"The Music Hour" ( formerly "Utaban") ends its 14-year history

On September 14th, one of the premier music programs in Japan, The Music Hour (formally known as ‘Utaban‘) ended its 14-year history.  The final episode was three hours long, and it showed the summary of its 14 year-run, including battles between one of the MC, Nakai Masahiro, and featured guests (particularly the famous battle with Ohno Satoshi of Arashi).

Many artists who have made appearances on the program submitted message videos; other musicians, such as Every Little Thing, SPEED, and the original Morning Musume showed up to say farewell to the show.

Some speculated that the show hardly breaking double-digits ratings anymore, ever since before Utaban get its renewal and that could be one of the reasons TBS won't bother to continue it. Grr.

It still boggles my mind that The Music Hour hasn't even lasted for a full year. I mean, Arashi was on Utaban back in March to promote Troublemaker and now, in September, the show has gotten canceled. Though I guess it shouldn't be so surprising. I heard ratings since the revamp have sucked big time. They never should have tried to change Utaban. Why mess with a winning formula? Fail, TBS, fail. D:

Does anyone know what they're planning to replace The Music Hour with?

They changed the format because Utaban was also having bad ratings, not just because they wanted to ruin it LOL
Probably they thought they could save it changing it a little but it seems it was impossible.

I'm sooooo sad, I'm gonna miss nakai-ohno fights and Nakai awesomeness in general hehe

Now, there are really no more Ohno-Nakai fights. Should we blame its disappearance for the single-digit ratings?

I'm gonna miss nakai vs ohno.
