Utada doesn't want fans to buy "Utada the best"

Utada's second best album is being released against her will and doesn't want fans to purchase it. From her twitter...

The release of "Utada the best" is entirely against my will. I wish that my fans won't have to buy it. There's no new material in it.

and

utadahikaru "Single Collection Vol. 2" is a release that's filled with my sincerity. I plan to make a more detailed comment about "Utada the best" in the days to come. But pre-orders have already started... I wrote what I did because I couldn't hold it in anymore. Good night for tonight!

That sucks, I kind of wanted to buy it because I really like her non-Japanese releases and want to support them. So was she also not responsible for picking the songs on it? :(

I noticed Japanese companies tends to release alot stuff without the approval of the same artists...its like they only care milking fans -.-

It happens in other countries too, for various reasons (milking fans, fulfilling a contract, etc).

I love it that some artists, even though tied down by various contracts and agreements, still manage to stay independent and are not afraid of saying what they want to, and not what the management tells them to say.

It seems like she's always had issues with her English record label.
I remember when a staff member impersonated her on myspace to announce the title of her newest album.
She kindly apologized and said she would talk with the staff.
This is why I love her <3
She's practical, down to earth, and always tries her best to connect with her fans' feelings.

Yep. She put out 3 albums in two years and didn't believe it was right to say that was her best works so early in her career. Avex has the copyright to her music so there was nothing she could do.
