We previously announced that pop duo RYTHEM would be holding a special Ustream appearance for a mysterious announcement, and the fears of many fans were confirmed as they revealed live that they would be breaking up after their February live concert tour.
Members YUI and YUKA have been close friends since middle school. They released their first single in May of 2003, “Harmonia,” before going on to make their major debut, releasing a total of three albums and 17 singles in their long career.
The two have mutually agreed that in order to grow as artists, and individually craft their musicianship, they need to disband. Their official site now holds the announcement, “RYTHEM has put a lot of thought into the decision.”
RYTHEM will release their last album, “Rhythm,” on December 8th. It will be followed up with their national tour, “Acoustic PoP Tour’11 ~Live Tree,” in January through to February 27th at Zepp Tokyo. The last show in Tokyo will be their farewell concert, and will be called, “Final Fantasy Live~RYTHEM Shijyousaidaikou no Rhythm!!!”
