Matsushita Nao to become a detective for winter drama
Actress Matsushita Nao (25), who had her big breakthrough this year with NHK's hugely popular morning drama "Gegege no Nyobo", will star in her first real prime time drama on Fuji TV next season. Moreover she is going to play the role of a female detective.
"Every day I haven't been on a set since the end of the morning drama felt really lonely and I can't wait for the filming of my next drama to begin," she said enthusiastically.
Actor Fujiki Naohito (38) has been casted as her partner. He will play a psychology professor.
After Matsushita's starring role in the NHK morning drama, she became the national "nyobo" (wife) of Japan and her big breakthrough even gave her the opportunity to host this year's "Kohaku Uta Gassen".
About her new role as a female detective, she said, "I want it to become a detective drama that even women will enjoy to watch. My character seems to be a woman that can sometimes be cool and sometimes be really sweet."
Fujiki also already used to the opportunity to make a comment about his new co-star. "Matsushita-san conveys the impression of an innocent woman, but at the same time you can sense a certain dignity and strength around her. I will have to try my best not to lose against that strength of her," he said.
Kanjami8's Yokoyama Yuu (29) will appear as one of her colleagues as well. Both Matsushita's and his character have been classmates at the police academy. Further he seems to be more like a soshoku man (lit. herbivorous, not really competitive at work and in love), because so far he never had the courage to confess his true feeling to her.
Fuji TV hasn't yet decided on a title for the drama, but it will start in January and air every Tuesday at 9 pm.
