Hamasaki Ayumi becomes the top-selling female artist in music DVD sales!

According to Oricon’s Weekly DVD ranking for May 9th, pop queen Hamasaki Ayumi has officially become the female artist with the highest music DVD sales in Japan!

The previous record was held by Morning Musume, who has sold approximately 2.303 million DVDs since their live concert DVD “Morning Musume Memory Seishun no Hikari” was released in 1999.

Hamasaki’s most recent music DVDs “A 50 SINGLES ~LIVE SELECTION~” and “ayumi hamasaki Rock’ n’ Roll Circus Tour FINAL ~7days Special~” – which sold nine thousand and six thousand units respectively – have pushed her total sales to 2.313 million units, surpassing Morning Musume’s record by ten thousand units.

Ayu broke other Oricon records just last week when her four remix albums charted in the top ten on the Oricon album charts, making her the artist with the most albums to rank in the top ten simultaneously. She also became the first female artist to hold the top two positions on the music DVD ranking when her two music DVDs were released on April 20th.

Congratulations to Hamasaki Ayumi on her achievements!

well the thing with ayu is that she does lots of genres - so for example i have favorite songs in different genres when it comes to her

ballads:
rainbow
forgiveness
moments
immature

pop:
fairyland
surreal
because of you
until that day
sparkle

her "darker" toned pop songs:
P.S. II (powder snow II)
ourselves
game

techno/trance/remixes:
jewel from ayumix silver
connected - main radio edit
kanariya - club radio edit (something like that)
whatever - version m

(she usually has great interlude tracks too - tasking is my favorite)

i hope this helps :))

I think some of her best songs are
inspire
sexy little things
rainbow
game
and everything on (miss)understood album

I am... and Rainbow are pretty good earlier albums too

She has a lot of great songs... though some of my personal favorites are Memorial Address, Unite!, evolution, RAINBOW, kiss o' kill, Jewel, SURREAL, Mirrorcle World and Moments. I don't listen to her remixes very often, though I do like the acoustic or orchestra versions.

the A BEST 2 albums, -WHITE- and -BLACK-, are always a good place to start!
(miss)understood, MY STORY and Memorial address are also good albums for an ayu newbie I think.
It's best to try out her older stuff after trying out the new, because even though her early works are her best, it could take some time to get used to them (it did to me). I am... is a big fan favorite, so you could try that! =)

recommending albums and not songs, cause there's just... to many songs to mention lol.

watching a tour is also great to know her, and the latest R'n'R Circus Tour is amaaaazing, so do try it out if you can!

aaaand... most important... don't forget to check out the lyrics! they're the best part! if you listen to ayu's songs in chronological order, it's like an autobiography. it's... just.... yeah. Ayu<3
