Details revealed for “GANTZ PERFECT ANSWER” DVD

It was recently announced that the hit movie, “GANTZ PERFECT ANSWER“, will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on October 14th.

“PERFECT ANSWER” stars Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari and actor Matsuyama Kenichi, and is the concluding episode to the breakthrough hit series that has attracted over 5 million viewers and over 600 million yen in box office takings. Although the movie picks up from where the original film left off, it also included an original conclusion.

The DVD and Blu-Ray will come in 2 disc sets, featuring the original movie as well as special features. The special features disc will contain making-of footage, as well as event documentary clips.

In addition, included as a special bonus will be a 20 page special comic booklet, “GANTZ/NISHI“, created for the movie.

has anyone seen the first film? does it live up to ecpectations or fall flat?
haruno21 14th-Jul-2011 07:04 am (UTC)
the movie is not bad at all, tbh.

BUT there are some really important details to the story and character development that shouldn´t be changed, Because they totally changed the vibe and atmosphere at some points. I felt rather dissapointed at it.
Not to the entire movie cause the final product is decent.

I´m a HUGE Gantz manga fan. I tell you so that you from where I´m speaking XD

It's definitely a lot better than the second part, since it was based on the original and the second part made me want to claw the screen and then cry my eyes out idk lol.

I don't think most adaptations can ever live up to the source material (especially transferring stuff from comic to movie), but it's a decent effort. :D Matsuken is really good in it. Nino's fine too.

It's up for download (with English subs) on Our_hour if you ever wanna watch.

after seeing the 1st film twice i can honestly say its really good. i read the manga and i'm satisfied with what they kept/changed. at first i felt that the "out of gantz" parts were a bit lacking, but after the second time...well i felt they couldve done more to it, but it was ok.

the movie as a whole is a good adaptation in my mind.
yaoilicious_53 14th-Jul-2011 11:51 pm (UTC)
The first movie is really good. I was gasping the whole time LOL XD

hannahime25 14th-Jul-2011 05:42 pm (UTC)
Oh oops! I was looking for a Ninomiya Kazunari tag. My bad.
skybluecotton 14th-Jul-2011 07:43 am (UTC)
Also, I'm shocked that we don't have a Nino tag.

LOL yes, we do.

On topic: I haven't even watched the first movie yet, there's no way I'm watching it out of order. :(

why~ why is the damn date so far away! I knew watching the first was a horrible idea since i love to watch everything in one go. Im terrible with waiting. I do like the manga better but im not delusional to think anything could own up to it. =_= I just love Nino in the suit. Damn he is fine *-*

morpheuslove 14th-Jul-2011 10:26 am (UTC)
not sure when it will be released in america, but im in new zealand right now and both GANTZ movies are screening at the the international film festival here :)
angelachibayuy 14th-Jul-2011 10:44 am (UTC)
Well the first one was already screened in America nationwide... but it seems like the second has no plans.

Second was great in theaters though, haven't read the manga so just loved it for what it was ^^ Since the anime just ended without any real resoluations.

I was lucky enough to snag a ticket to each of the movies when they played at the Japan Society in New York with subs last week.

That said, speaking as someone who has no interest in the manga and couldn't get into the anime, I mainly went because I seem to learn something about acting every time I see Nino in a movie.

Someone here said the first was better than the second, but I thought the opposite was true--the second movie held my attention a lot better. Maybe that's just because I don't know the Gantz world very well? Or maybe because the second dealt more with people and less with CG aliens. The ending seemed kind of like a deus ex machina combined with "we only have 15 minutes left so let's use up the rest of our SFX budget!" But I admit I did almost cry. Almost.

Certainly not in my Top 5 Japanese movies, but it was definitely worth seeing at least once.

frankly it's better to watch if you dont expect anything from it more like i was afraid to expect much from it when the first came out xD gosh, i super cant wait for the 2nd movie to come out where i am~~ am so getting the DVDs <33

Also, I'm shocked that we don't have a Nino tag.
they do have a nino tag, what's a jpop gossip/news website without individual arashi member tags? XD
hannahime25 14th-Jul-2011 05:43 pm (UTC)
Oh oops! I was looking for a Ninomiya Kazunari tag instead of the other way around.
love323able 15th-Jul-2011 08:00 am (UTC)
I actually was expecting it too be aweful because of the dubbing XD
but in the end i really liked it<3
still waiting for the 2nd part
ending_theme 14th-Jul-2011 12:35 pm (UTC)
The first movie was great, and I went back to see it 3 times in theaters.

The second one was meh and left so many questions unanswered that I found the title highly ironic. One time was enough and the ending was super predictable. Sadness :/
no1_antielitist 14th-Jul-2011 01:07 pm (UTC)
The first film is scheduled for release on both DVD and Blu-ray in the U.S. on August 30. I've been wanting to do a post about it for my comm, but VIZ/New People hasn't sent out PR for it yet, so no one has much in the way of details. I think the DVD is supposed to have 2-discs, though, so I'm guessing we'll get some pretty decent special features.
cry1baby 14th-Jul-2011 09:04 pm (UTC)
really now
*is intrigued*
falling_cookie 14th-Jul-2011 04:29 pm (UTC)
I'm still upset that they didn't show the second movie in the US. I liked the first movie (I've never read the manga or seen the anime tho) and I was looking forward to seeing it too.

And I thought a lot of people showed up to it. Was there any report on how much it made through those US screenings?
cry1baby 14th-Jul-2011 09:06 pm (UTC)
they kinda did...in the NYAFF but thats only for people who actually had the means to get to NYC and of course those who lived there.

but yeah they needed another 300 theaters type of screening >.
chouxcream 15th-Jul-2011 10:27 pm (UTC)
Here's a link to the SF premiere. Wish I could go. Damn you, college orientation!
http://www.newpeopleworld.com/films/films-8-2011/#gantz2

I doubt there'll be many additional screenings. The 300-whatever theater thing from the first movie seemed a bit overzealous (though very nice).

Oh, and there's going to be some DVD premiere event for the first movie at the JPop Summit.
eeyore_kun 18th-Jul-2011 06:03 am (UTC)
For those that live in Adelaide, Australia, JFF is on next September. Gantz and Gantz: Perfect answer will be shown during the festival (on the same night back to back). Here's the link :http://15th.japanesefilmfestival.net/filmlist.html

I think it will come to Sydney too in November and Melbourne Nov/Dec, Japanese audio with English subs.
