Arama They Didn't

AKB48's Maeda Atsuko's drama has a controversy...

AKB48’s Maeda Atsuko’s Fuji T.V. drama, “Hanakazari no Kimi Tachi e~ Ikemen Paradise 2011”. It’s been getting much talk due to the show’s low ratings up to this point. But since August 7th, it brought along another controversy and it’s getting much talk once again.

Maeda’s t-shirt that she was wearing on August 7th, the day considered to be after the bombing of Hiroshima is considered the problem this time. On the back of the t-shirt, it said ‘LITTLE BOY’.
This is the picture (Click source to view the pictures).

Little Boy is the codename for the nuclear bomb that was used on Hiroshima in World War II.

Picture of the nuclear bomb ‘Little Boy’ (In source).

August 6th is considered the day of the atomic bombing. It’s been 66 years and this year as well, there are events and a memorial service. Wearing this kind of t-shirt on the day after, if it was intentional, it will bring a new argument.

And for this issue, the netizens are saying…

-What’s honestly going on with Fuji recently? (´・ω・`)

-That’s a huge ‘coincidence’.

-This is like wearing a t-shirt that’s praising the bombing of Pearl Harbor (Picture in source).

-It can’t be helped if they’re criticized for this, even if it was a mistake that came from ignorance. If it was intentional, then they’re finished.

-↑There’s usually a check on the outfits so they would definitely notice. But they still showed it, which means it was intentional.

-Since there were so many staffs, the excuse of no one knowing about this would not work.

-If we get complaints about this, we can’t make the B-29 plastic models anymore (The Enola Gay plastic model).

-↑ That plastic model had to stop selling.

-Eh? Level company’s one is still sold. It was recently made again and I bought it at Amazon.

-The name of the bomb (laugh). How much do they need to stretch this to make themselves feel good (laugh).

-Hmm, you can take it both ways.

-It’s not possible that this is a coincidence because on that one special day out of 365 days, they decided to wear this t-shirt when there were so many other t-shirts as an option.

-The t-shirt’s color is also a yellow cake.

-First of all, do they even sell these t-shirts?

-This is hard. Even if you say Little Boy, a normal young person probably wouldn’t know, would they?

-My son in elementary even knew. Doesn’t Maeda know? If it’s on purpose, then it’s a horrible story.

-If you’re Japanese, you need to know Little Boy and Fat Man.

-↑I didn’t know about Little Boy. I learned something new.

-You can take this as a nuclear bomb ‘Little Boy’ due to the timing of the show’s airing. But, this drama is about a girl who is lying about her identity to enter an all boys school. So there is a possibility that this shirt was just for effects to express this.

-Little boy means shounen so since it’s that kind of role, it can’t be helped. It doesn’t mean that it's only about the nuclear bomb.

-↑ then wear that shirt that says ‘Little Boy’ and walk around in Hiroshima at this time. I’ll beat you up if I see you.

-↑ Before a guy beats that person up, the ladies will start up an huge lecture meeting and it’ll continue on forever.

-Are they making fun of the victims, this is inexcusable.

-Serious? This is honestly horrible. I’ll never forgive them.

-Fuji T.V. is amazing. Are they seriously considering putting up a fight with the Japanese people…

-Fuji T.V., if the female Japan-US soccer finals were cancelled, they decided to choose the movie ‘Pearl Harbor’. (Picture in source)

-Well~ how to say. Yes! There’s no delicacy. It’s more than ignorance; you can’t feel intelligence from the CX. There’s no feeling of crisis and proper risk management.

Translated by me. Any problems, suggestions, and so forth, please feel free to tell me.

Fuji’s been getting hit with some not so nice controversies recently. Considering the amount of nonsense English Japan has for their t-shirts, they need to learn to check the meaning and grammar of their shirts and such.

Chances are none of the dumbasses looked at the T-Shirt properly and made the connection. Fuji TV is really putting its foot in it lately, though.
dorkiilove 11th-Aug-2011 10:38 am (UTC)
or maybe because she's portraying a little boy in the drama

Well, the drama was filmed way back and it just so happened that the drama was aired after the historical event, no?

It's just a pure coincidence...
a_grumble_cake 11th-Aug-2011 11:13 am (UTC)
nm misread your comment
l0ck0n 11th-Aug-2011 10:45 am (UTC)
Because they film the episodes on the day they're broadcast. Totally.

Come on Japan, really?
harukakamiya 11th-Aug-2011 10:48 am (UTC)
I'm sure FujiTV reps will issue an apology for the unfortunate coincidence, and Acchan probably as well, too, since y'know, it's always the wearer of the shirt's fault*.

It's just a coincidence, yes; but please don't let me see any history fail in this post, Arama. :(

*sarcasm here

This may prompt FujiTV to issue a statement saying, "We're sorry for something we didn't actually do."
benihime99 11th-Aug-2011 11:33 am (UTC)
That would be fun... everyone should apologize then, I didn't do it either but I'm sorry^^

Right when I read the beginning of this I thought of the bomb... Of course it seems like a stupid mistake but due to the controversy with Fuji lately I'm not surprised people are upset, they need to get their shit together imo
hananaki 11th-Aug-2011 11:34 am (UTC)
That's the least of their problems.

Blaming this for the ratings is almost funny...

anduril_narsil 11th-Aug-2011 12:29 pm (UTC)
I think it's a coincidence, but when I read it, I went: ouch! They need to be more sensitive in the future.

The t-shirt’s color is also a yellow cake.
