NMB48 Sets New Record On Oricon And Announces Special Osaka Tour!!



On February 8th, NMB48 released their third single, “Junjou U-19”, and it’s already sold 329,000 copies in its first week! Not only that, but the single has also topped the Oricon Single Ranking for the week of February 20th.

This marks NMB48’s third single topping the Oricon charts in its first week — their previous singles, “Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shoujo” and “Oh My God!”, had also placed a triumphant first on their release weeks.

With this achievement, they will be the first female artists in the Oricon chart’s 45-year-old history to top the ranking with three consecutive songs (including their debut single). Up til now, Yakushimaru Hiroko and Sawajiri Erika each held the highest record for consecutively topping the charts with their two first singles, but now NMB48 has stepped up to take the crown.

They are also the very first female artists (including female solo artist) who’ve sold over 200,000 copies on the first week for their three consecutive singles.  “Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shoujo” sold 218,000 copies, “Oh My God!” sold 265,000 copies, and “Junjou U-19 sold 329,000 copies.

Commenting on this incredible feat, Captain Yamamoto Sayaka (18) stated, “This was all possible because of everyone’s support. Thank you so much.”

Also, to thank their fans for three consecutive top spots in the Oricon Charts, NMB48 has announced a live tour to be held in 10 places in their home prefecture Osaka.

The preliminary title for the tour is Osaka Juuban Shoubu (roughly Osaka Ten Matches/Contests) and it is set for April and May this year. Further details have yet to be announced.

Team N is just amazing. Naniwa Nadeshiko in particular is a GREAT idol show, and the Team N stages are just flawless. They're all amazing, even though Milky is definitely my favorite.

And I totally understand, because I love/miss Ori B....

Yeahh Team N's a really great team!!! That's right, flawless stages!! I honestly can't wait for N3, their first original stage!! Well my oshi is actually Sayanee, Ainyan is close behind in no. 2...but I do love all the other girls too!! I'm so glad Akarin and Shiokichi are back nowww!! Well they're not like my top favs but still they were important to Team N for me as well. Everyone's important and I would be sad if any of them leavesss :3

Sayanee is so great; I mean, I'm Milky oshi, but I can totally see why Sayanee takes the lead. Especially after her performance of Bird. omg. Ainyan is excellent, too, but Nana's my second favorite.

I refused to believe that they could do it because they stand on their own, more like riding AKB48's successes instead.. Yea, they may be from Namba (Osaka) and AKB from Akihabara (Tokyo) but NMB wouldn't get the record if weren't for AKB...

Nevertheless, NMB is somewhat like JE's ver of K-T ;P

Tbh I'm really sick of this argument.

I'm not denying the fact that yes, NMB would probably be nobodies without the 48name, but that couldn't be the only contributory factor to their success up to now. Many other factors would have played a part.

Honestly, making an argument like this saying they won't get the record if it weren't for AKB...you started a dead end argument here because there is no way I can deny it as NMB pretty much came into existence because of the success of AKB...then only Aki-P decided to start these sister groups...

In the beginning stages like esp for the first single, I can accept that their success was from riding AKB's success. But get real. How long do you think they can depend on AKB's popularity to boost their own?

At first, people may get hyped up from the 48name...that's for early stages but after that, they're basically on their own. If people didn't like the songs, members and etc, it won't work either.

Also, you do have to remember there's no AKB girls in NMB singles. if people buy them, people actually do want to listen to them, see them, and shake hands with NMB members alone.

I only wish that the future 48groups can stand on their own without having someone from the 'new48' in AKB48 to 'boost' the center & 'new48', that is while AKB is still relevant...
