Arama They Didn't

You have to suit your schedule to AKB48's unless you're SMAP or Arashi

Now that Takamina’s mom scandal seems to have lost steam, mainly due to the fact that it was not widely reported by the main media sources. People have started to wonder just how much influence Akimoto Yasushi has over the industry.

According to a source connected to the commercial industry, “AKB48’s popularity is amazing right now. When it comes to AKB, they can even take part in CMs from competing companies. For example, Oshima Yuko can be the spokesperson for company A, but she can also participate in the CM for company B as part of AKB. Take Kimutaku for example, once SMAP got the deal to appear in CMs for SoftBank, he was let go from his Fujitsu CM deal. This is how great AKB’s influence is right now.”

But instead of saying it’s AKB’s power of influence, it might be better to consider it as Akimoto Yasushi’s influence. He even has the power to influence other management agencies.

A source working with management agency said, “Right now, Watanabe Mayu is filming for her drama, even though her schedule is already super packed, her activities in AKB take priority. Her agency, Ogi Production, a super well-known management agency within Japan, has not once complained. At the same time, Maeda Atsuko is co-starring with Yamashita Tomohisa in a drama right now. When filming for a music show conflicted with filming for the drama, Yamapi, the lead, actually was forced to wait for Acchan. Akimoto even said that the only people he’d actually check schedules with are SMAP and Arashi. So basically, people have to go with his schedule, always. That’s how much power he has right now.”

Being an Arashi, SMAP, Yamapi and AKB48 fan, this pleases me a lot. I don't mind if people make Yamapi wait. He used to do it to others before, as well.
arashic5 18th-Feb-2012 12:54 am (UTC)
Pretty much what you said :D
aibajunior 17th-Feb-2012 08:39 pm (UTC)
...he seems snobby.
ayaelf92 17th-Feb-2012 08:42 pm (UTC)
ikr.
zomboid 17th-Feb-2012 08:47 pm (UTC)
I can see why that's the case though. With all the shows they have, their schedules are probably packed. Yamapi doesn't have any regular shows and the promotion for his single hasn't really started yet.

I'm happy for the girls but I hope they're not working themselves to death.
liime_arix 17th-Feb-2012 08:53 pm (UTC)
I always worry about the girls being overworked esp. when there's members with a bare schedule.
nilla_cakester 17th-Feb-2012 08:51 pm (UTC)
...meanwhile 30 girls sit at home with nothing on their schedules but a few theater shows and maybe being a seat filler for AKBingo!

I like AKB but safe their singles all they give me is below average garbage

so boo his power, his actresses aren't any better than the shit we get from JE
heartgatavirus 17th-Feb-2012 09:08 pm (UTC)
that's funny because a lot of fans consider their singles to be below average garbage and much prefer the other things (esp. stages). huh.
heartgatavirus 17th-Feb-2012 09:06 pm (UTC)
I can't really think of AkiP as "stuck-up" and "snobby"... because he just seems so nice on his Google+ posts and comments xD

I could just be naive though lol.

I, and I think all fans of anything ever, will always have a love/hate relationship with management though (TEAM SHUFFLE. NEVER FORGIVE. NEVER FORGET.)

(TEAM SHUFFLE. NEVER FORGIVE. NEVER FORGET.)

;_; Original Team K...and the other teams but team K is my team lol

I really hope this doesn't happen again.

people who take this article even an ounce seriously...........................................................
coika 18th-Feb-2012 04:10 am (UTC)
Why? I don't think this is really all that shocking... right now AKB have a higher status, so of course their activities are going to be put in priority. It's not a new concept... I mean even at my own job I have to work around the schedules of people who are higher up than me.

As for the competing CM things... they do have some truth there. "Give Me Five" has been used in at least 3 CMs so far that I'm aware of. It's not common for older songs used when they were first released to be reused in different CMs later on down the road, but this is the first time I've seen it with CMs running concurrently at the same time. Usually this would be a conflict of interest for the companies in question, but it seems like they've made an exception for AKB.

I can understand AKB's activities are most important.
But why should other people wait for them ? (I take the exemple of Yamapi) They are 48 and more, are they all hover booked ?
Ok, they are famous. But they are not like other group, singer or actors who have more years of activity, or who are more popular or most demanded. These people/groups can (sometimes) make other people waiting.

I dont consider AKB as one of these group.

Sorry for my bad english ^^'
liime_arix 17th-Feb-2012 09:40 pm (UTC)
But even if you don't count AKB48 as one of those groups, you kind of already answered your own question with '...who are more popular or most demanded.'
kachuusha 17th-Feb-2012 09:59 pm (UTC)
i don't think it's stuck up. people who are popular are in high demand, people are probably willing to wait for them. i'm sure it happens more than people think.
liime_arix 18th-Feb-2012 02:24 am (UTC)
I wonder if people's reactions would be different if it was any other group.
arara_chan 17th-Feb-2012 10:06 pm (UTC)
"Akimoto even said that the only people he’d actually check schedules with are SMAP and Arashi."
He really said this?? Hahahaha I'm laughing so hard xDDDD
There must be a bunch of stars or agencies, who hate him xDDD
mrwaffle 17th-Feb-2012 11:00 pm (UTC)
Aki-P being powerful is a surprise? He was the producer of Utaban, produced and/or wrote songs for some of the biggest names in the business for decades... we're really surprised?
tsumi_riina717 18th-Feb-2012 12:05 am (UTC)
well.....
yasmine2009 18th-Feb-2012 12:08 am (UTC)
I wonder if all these jobs AKB have are the best thing for them. I have a friend from Japan who went back home over winter break. Before he left, he had no problem with AKB. He even though a few were cute. When he came back...Let's just say they aren't his favorite.
coika 18th-Feb-2012 04:14 am (UTC)
That's because you can't go into any store/turn on the TV/look at a magazine without at least seeing one of them. It's pretty annoying. I feel the same way about Arashi, but at least they only hog the TV.
ringochan93 18th-Feb-2012 01:54 am (UTC)
oh pls, even if Arashi is famous (maybe more than AKB), i havent seen any news like that abt them yet. I loved AKB, but now, i have some bad sense.
liime_arix 18th-Feb-2012 02:23 am (UTC)
There's been news about people having to adjust to Arashi before.
cherylena 18th-Feb-2012 02:43 am (UTC)
I really want Aki-P to GTFO. Not AKB or any other 48, but just Aki-P.

BTW, this article has an unreliable source so don't take it too seriously. (not like there's anything to be taken seriously about in the article)
leicee 18th-Feb-2012 02:53 am (UTC)
i'm disappointed. why would these angels actually have to give way to dicks? even during smap's heydays, i doubt they sold more than 7 million records in a year.

fine, i'll patiently wait for the time when everyone will have to suit their own schedules for akb. won't be long now, i reckon.
noonew 18th-Feb-2012 04:31 am (UTC)
I think they have to give ways to SMAP and Arashi not because of the gender but because they arer busier than AKB. Also, the schedule AkiP talked about is mainly TV schedule and both groups are bigger TV stars than AKB. TV stations will be willing to accommodate SMAP and Arashi's schedules more than AKB. When both groups' shows are in the teens and even surpassed 20% but AKB's shows barely make it to double digits.

SMAP never sell more than 7 million copies in a year but their TV ratings trump any other group even now. That's the reason why Aki-P has to adjust to their schedule, TV is the main force of Japanese Entertainment.
sakatamarie 18th-Feb-2012 03:07 am (UTC)
Sounded so snobby. I'd hate to work with someone like that =_= I mean, you are famous and etc. but that doesn't mean you can just say 'groupzx isn't famous as groupxy so I don't care about their schedule'. It's quite anti-ethic in my opinion.
Maeda Atsuko is a bad actress tbh. Watched HanaKimi and Ryomaden and was..."wtf is she doing in a NHK taiga acting like that?"
No troll intended. I think she's one of the most charismatic girl in the group.
But as an actress. ugh.
antifools 18th-Feb-2012 04:09 am (UTC)
Acchan haters gonna hate. Well, a whole lot of other people would disagree with you. Also, the wait is because of the load Acchan has. It's not her fault for having too many engagements in a day. The girl barely gets a break.

And you already believed a "I heard he said that article"? Gee, some people really are so gullible.
coika 18th-Feb-2012 04:18 am (UTC)
No one is blaming Maeda here, but if you want to stay in lalaland and make this about Maeda lol OK then.
stbluemoon 18th-Feb-2012 06:25 am (UTC)
What I care mostly about this article is: Iijima Michi > Akimoto Yasushi. You go gurl.

Though on a more serious note, I hope he doesn't do that holding up other artistes thing too often. After all, it's the girls who have to apologise to everyone when they turn up late for filming.
flashylicious 18th-Feb-2012 07:37 am (UTC)
for now
everyone knows this phenomenon is not gonna last

i don't think AKB48 will last long after the 1st generation graduated..>.<
