When racism doesn't cut it anymore...you guessed it: a Jin post

The brilliant songwriter and all-around nice guy, Jin Akanishi is about to launch his new album, Japonicana. Some netizens have already gotten their hands on a digital copy and thus on the lyrics of his songs. One in particular is very interesting:

That's what she said - lyrics
edit: Please note that the lyrics can be triggering for people who have experienced sexual violation in any way. Also note that due to the heated discussions a lot of the comments will be triggering as well and none carry warning labels.

To the right, to the left, to the left, to the left
Down up down up down up down down up up
Down up down up down up down down up up

(repeat last 3 verses)

So what does it mean? Judge for yourself. The fact that Jin hasn't put one proper sentence in the entire song certainly leaves something for the imagination. It's hard not to think of date rape and misogynism when he uses such classy lines like "Slut + Bitch = Slutch", "I can't drink this", "This tastes funny". How much his fans want to support such a message remains to be seen. Japonicana comes out on March 6th and will be available on itunes and several amazon stores.

pls dont generalize 'western music' as being all this shit. but i think i get your point. i lost interest in artists that just sing about worldly themes that just corrode listeners' brains.sigh
i admit jpop is not free of such things, but damn, what an irony, that Jin threw away his 'safe' music with KAT-TUN for this crap

MTE. Please don't generalize. Only some wannabe gangster rappers and the like would churn out misogynist crap like that. The majority of western artists - the ones that *I* listen to at least - don't. Some may have racy lyrics, Dresden Dolls come to mind, and sing about sex, masturbation and whatnot. But I have yet to hear a song that glorifies date rape in such crude and dumb manner. Even Austrian singer Falco's highly controversial song "Jeanny" (which is from the POV of what appears to be a mad murderer and rapist) is infinitely more clever and subtle. The lyrics are unpleasant and give you the creeps but they're thought provoking. (And I don't even like that song that much.)
Jin's song? Just crude and despicable. Stop raping English.

Really? You acknowledge that Jin's lyrics are misogynist and then say Stop raping English?

Well, I'd rather have him write his lyrics in English - so that I cannot understand them. Ignorance is bliss sometimes. Not that I'm that much into his music to begin with.

And that point went soaring over your head.

Well, thanks for giving me a chance to clarify then. Nice meeting you too.

You seem to have missed my point: don't use the word "rape" as slang/as a metaphor for something else. Doing so trivializes actual rape and the suffering of women who have been sexually assaulted. More here.

OK. Now I see where you're coming from. Touché. Of course, I didn't mean to trivialize sexual abuse. I think I made that quite clear in my other comments here. So let me rephrase it: Stop using the English language to spread your intellectual BS. That better?
PS: And your link doesn't work.

THIS!

Western music is more than just the mainstream shitty lyrics. There is so much more if you only look.
