Poll: Strange charms of the opposite sex

goo Ranking recently asked what aspects of the opposite sex that others might find a little odd did people find alluring, for both men looking at women and women looking at men.

Demographics

Between the 17th and 18th of January 2012 1,048 members of the goo Research online monitor group completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 61.6% of the sample were female, 12.3% in their teens, 15.6% in their twenties, 27.9% in their thirties, 25.8% in their forties, 9.5% in their fifties, and 8.9% in their sixties. Note that the score in the results refers to the relative number of votes for each option, not a percentage of the total sample.

Ranking up!Collapse )

Love the pictures in this post OP!

"She eats a lot" :D
yumcheesy 28th-Mar-2012 02:01 am (UTC)
"she gets drunk easily"-- hahaha, that was towards the top
tomoeicemaiden 28th-Mar-2012 02:21 am (UTC)
Totally understand the regional accent thing, that shit is sexy
endorphin_rush 28th-Mar-2012 02:39 am (UTC)
apparently my sexual orientation is fetish material in japan.
nova_usagi 28th-Mar-2012 02:41 am (UTC)
It`s a translating error. It`s "androgynous" for the poll which is probably in reference to looks...like not a masculine, manly looking guy but a more feminine, pretty boy.
nova_usagi 28th-Mar-2012 02:40 am (UTC)
The couple pic is super cute. They match really well as a couple. Recently I`ve been seeing mismatched couples when it comes to fashion sense, not that it really matters they they`re dating but into different styles of clothing. :P

But 中性的 is not "asexual" it means "androgynous". Here it`s probably being used to refer to guys who aren`t very masculine and are kind of pretty boys.

So, I totally get the cold thing. Surprising, right? But...tsunderes are my drugs, guys. Without them life just wouldn't be fun~.

.....also, I'm glad guys like nerds/dorks/goofs too because total sentai and otoge nerd? Yes, yes I am one of those. {Although I understand how the otoge thing can be a turnoff. >.> IT'S JUST BECAUSE I'M FOREVER ALONE, OKAY? D:}
hirogime 28th-Mar-2012 04:23 am (UTC)
He is a nerd in a particular field

He hasn’t got rid of his regional accent (THIS pretty much)

He eats a lot

He is narcissistic

He gets embarrassed exceptionally easily

I'LL FALL IN LOVE. Definitely.
naming_is_hard 28th-Mar-2012 04:31 am (UTC)
I don't get the "thick body hair" bit. So every woman who subjects herself to waxing and things, was wasting her time, since men find that attractive? Right.
nova_usagi 29th-Mar-2012 05:36 am (UTC)
Maybe it means thick only in certain places... like hair on her head and maybe even pubic hair. A lot of girls do little to no trimming down there, but getting the under arms and forearms lasered away isn`t so uncommon.

S/he hasn’t got rid of his regional accent

BBS going to Japan soon as some of these seem to be according to my taste or describe me. XD
december_clouds 28th-Mar-2012 11:14 am (UTC)
I love different accents among the same language. I'd fall for a Kansai accent any day.
_pink_starz_ 28th-Mar-2012 11:25 am (UTC)
Yeeeah, I agree with people questioning why it's odd to be attracted to tall guys... what?~!

The regional dialect thing is so hot. I love it whenever my boyfriend speaks in kansai-ben. Granted, sometimes I have no idea what the hell he's saying but regardless! :3
isinuyasha 28th-Mar-2012 12:15 pm (UTC)
What the fuck is wrong with liking tall men?
And asexual...eh...that would be a total turn off for me, literally.
Strong body odor? If you're talking about a good odor, okay, I get that, I like that as well...but I hope they're not talking about sweat or something.
Thick Body hair, eh D:
Sweats like a pig, wtf Japan.
nova_usagi 29th-Mar-2012 05:37 am (UTC)
It`s not "asexual" it`s actually "androgynous" as in "pretty boy" or not so girly girl.
rosemaine 28th-Mar-2012 12:20 pm (UTC)
I can only accept 1 2 3 and 4 for male's. others are just pure odd and annoying >.>
newsvsyamapi 28th-Mar-2012 05:27 pm (UTC)
MTE!!!!!
miyasaikou 28th-Mar-2012 02:36 pm (UTC)
"His jokes often fall flat"
why dear god yes I am certainly attracted to this for some reason
newsvsyamapi 28th-Mar-2012 05:27 pm (UTC)
"7 He is asexual" would hate it...
some of teh answer makes me go: WTH!!!!
nova_usagi 29th-Mar-2012 05:38 am (UTC)
It`s not "asexual" it`s actually "androgynous". The main poster mistranslated the word.
inachan89 28th-Mar-2012 08:05 pm (UTC)
the sweat like a pig, strong body odor and thick body hair are a no for me. Normal body hair is fine(don't want him to have less hair than me) but thick..

Want him to be nerd about something so he can't say anything about me LOL
sxechiru 28th-Mar-2012 08:26 pm (UTC)
To me it's DEFINITELY odd to find a guy's coldness towards you attractive. Coldness makes me either reciprocate or ignore you, just saying.
emeraldxdew 29th-Mar-2012 03:23 am (UTC)
Hmm...might that cold thing tie in with bad boy stereotypes?
sibylblack 8th-Apr-2012 12:25 pm (UTC)
Some of these are just WTF...
