Five Johnny's Talents Called-In for a Private Dinner

Julie Keiko Fujishima, President of J-Storm and niece of Johnny's and Associates President-Johnny Kitagawa, hosted a private dinner for five of Johnny's talents, Weekly Bunshun and Johnnys-Watcher reported.

The attendants are Kanjani8's Ryo Nishikido and Ryuhei Maruyama, Arashi's Satoshi Ohno and Masaki Aiba, and KAT-TUN's Junno Taguchi.

Julie Fujishima also invited over 20 members of press from TV and women's magazine in a dinner held at a Chinese restaurant in Azabu Juban district. According to the article, the center of the discussion was unclear but the invitees are five of Johnny's talents who will be having a drama this April. Nishikido with "Papa wo Idol", Ohno with "Locked Room", Aiba with "Miki-neko Holmes no Suiri", Junno with "Legal High", and Maruyama just finished his starring role in "O-Parts" and was also casted in "Strawberry Nights".

Press attendees said that the dinner has been very luxurious, Satoshi Ohno served wine while Nishikido Ryo was even asked to speak to one of magazine editor's daughter on phone because the daughter is a huge fan. During the dinner, TOKIO's Nagase Tomoya and Yamaguchi Tatsuya also appeared, the two are rumored to be Julie's allies in the so-called "Julie Faction".

Entertainment insiders said that a similar dinner also happened November last year. Although this might looked like a simple dinner to promote activities of these Johnny's talents but insiders are claiming that this is Julie Fujishima's way of flaunting her power and influence that she's ready to take-on Johnny's Entertainment once Johnny Kitagawa leaves.

Okay, so this is all stuff I've learnt from 2chan speculation, so take it with a grain of salt.

Basically, there are four "main" factions: Johnny, Julie, Mary and Michi. Since Johnny and Mary are obviously getting old and don't have as much control over the Jimusho anymore, their groups are starting to lean either Michi or Julie. HSJ is generally considered a group in the Johnny faction despite being under the Jstorm label, and they've been more on Michi's side these days.
TOKIO, for example, was under Mary, but they've been more and more with Julie as time goes on.

I don't think they're forbidden to be on each other's shows per se, it's just that they won't promote each other as much. Chinen would definitely be heartbroken, haha.

It's all very confusing and everyone has differing views on it.

but how do people know which side they are leaning towards?

It's speculation based on what shows they appear on. TOKIO appear on a few Arashi shows while HSJ members have starred in dramas with SMAP members. KAT-TUN have appeared on SMAPxSMAP and seem to get along well with the SMAP members in general.

And ofc Kisumai are on every single SMAP show ever.

I finally get why I don't have Toma with SMAP T___T But then Goro was in Hanakimi and Toma was on SxS, Toma once was in Shingo's drama and was in Nakai's show in 98.

daaaymmn..so much politics..my head hurt. So I guess jstorm isnt entirely julie's? I thought jstorm was built for arashi, and since arashi is on julie's team, everything under jstorm would be her. Why is it only smap under viktor? can you tell me the bad points of both michi and julie? I've seen some je fans distaste toward julie, but I'm not familiar enough with her and michi. And what about matchy-san? I heard he's gunning for the top spot too

sorry for asking much, the power struggle is very intersting..

Haha, that's okay. I think it's very interesting too, but I don't understand everything myself.

Yeah, J-Storm was built for Arashi, but even though she's the VP of J-Storm somehow not every J-Storm act is considered hers. KAT-TUN's actually under J-One which used to be separate but is now a J-Storm subsidiary, but even then they're not under Julie. TOKIO are now J-Storm and are pretty much completely on Julie's side.
HSJ is a really odd case, though. They're under J-Storm and are a Johnny group but they do a lot more things with Michi faction groups.

I've heard a lot of people say that Julie isn't really good at managing groups, and that Arashi's popularity was more because of good timing than due to her managerial skills.

Victor is an outside company and the groups Michi manages directly are on outside companies. Like Kisumai are under Avex.

Basically, it goes something like
Mary: NEWS (not sure), TOKIO (leaning Julie)
Johnny: HSJ, KAT-TUN, NYC (all leaning Michi)
Michi: SMAP, Kisumai
Julie: Arashi, Kanjani8

V6 and Kinki don't really seem to take part in power struggles. No one ever talks about them online so I have no idea who they're under.

Hmm..maybe that's why Jin is favored, since kattun is under Johnny directly. From what I know, kinki is even more loved by Johnny, they're his pet project. Only one of them can get away with saying anything about Johnny to Johnny. I guess the battle continue with eito vs kisumai?
Yeah I guess julie is kinda suck, remembering how arashi was back then. Looking at kattun/kisumai, arashi/eito, looks like michi's always have the fast rising group, and julie's the slowburner..
V6 is a mystery,maybe mary's?

But SMAP is the very definition of a slowburner.

They're the only JE group whose debut single didn't debut at #1. Their 12th single was the first to peak at #1. They finally had their consecutive #1s from 1994 onwards.

Kinki was several times on SmapxSmap, and both was on Kurobara. The same with T&T
