I was so mesmerized by how girly he looked at the beginning that I jumped a bit when the vocals kicked in. Not a bad track, but dear Lord, he's a magnificent looking woman! I wonder if that might be more attention grabbing then the fact he's white. I'd definitely give more tracks of his a listen, though.
I'm not really into this stuff anymore, but he sounds pretty typical. So if he wanted to blend in musically and create sounds similar to those already within the industry then I think he was totally on point. It seems generic to me, but I'm not a fan of the genre. Either way, it's cool that he's living part of his dream, so few of us get to do that in any capacity.
I'm just curious what people who are really into VK think about this?
I think the intro of the PV is pretty interesting. Although he sounds darn typical (his voice sounds familiar but I've been out of vkei for too long) and looks darn typical too. But overall pulls off quite well, perhaps it's because of his Japanese pronunciation. Although the female version's part in the PV is so awkward (his body language and all).
I made it all the way through the video so thats a good sign at least. Like I said it has a very Janne Da Arc sound to me... with some old school Miyavi thrown in. This song is better then a lot of vk shit made by Japanese vk bands...
Visually I think he fits the vk look well, but I donno about the girly bit. I think he just looks awkward. Hes like what 17? I just wonder what he will look like after a few years of aging a bit more.
He's very cute! And his pronunciation is pretty good- I think he pulls it off. IDC that it's typical- I say good for him- it seems like he actually knows what he's doing (good voice, careful Japanese and decent guitar skills).
omg what, this is YOHIO? Where did time go?!!? Did someone fast forward? Why do I feel old?! I can't believe how much he has grooooooown!! I still think of him as the tiny just-turned-teenager he was couple of years ago~ But wow, he's impressive. Not that I'm surprised really.. he's been wickedly good with the guitar since before, nothing wrong with his singing voice either.
He looks like the love child of Yura-sama and Aya from Pyscho le Cemu. If he started doing para para dance moves he'd be the perfect splitting image of them.
I actually don't mind the song or the video. Both are nicely done. It does feel slightly generic (and perhaps a bit soft for the genre) and he's got a lot of strong competition, but we'll see where he goes from here. If nothing else, he's very enthusiastic about the whole concept and putting a fair bit of effort into it.
