Kis-My-Ft2 sell over 250k of their album in the first week!

Seven-member Johnny's group, Kis-My-Ft2 have sold 254,000 copies of their debut album in its first week according to the new Oricon weekly charts dated for April 9. "Kis-My-1st" hits #1 just one week after the group's third single, "SHE! HER! HER!" snagged the top spot, making it two weeks in a row for the group atop an Oricon chart.

The last time a male act was able to surpass 200,000 copies in their first week with their debut album was over six years ago when KAT-TUN released "Best of KAT-TUN."

That's cool I guess. I still don't understand the appeal. At all. I remember when my friend and I first saw ads for them and we couldn't stop laughing. Then we jumped to the ad on our phones and almost died on the platform. I remember thinking "ok, these boys are silly. flop"

That just goes to show how much I understood the climate of Japanese pop-culture >.<

Maybe I just need to delve deeper??

you need to watch more to be able to distinguish between flop silliness and awesome silliness lmao

haha it seems like a very thin line. i just need to sharpen my skills ^^

lol what. if they don't appeal to you then that's that. it's not a matter of Japanese Pop culture or whatnot. I have a lot of Japanese friends who dislike JE bands as much as I do.

I know. But I was saying I thought they'd be flops (and since that's currently not true) then I obviously don't understand the J-pop industry. I don't understand why no one in arama reads comments thoroughly...

oh i just assumed, when you said you wanted to understand how flops can make #1 in charts, that you wanted to find out what was so appealing about them so then you can like them too.

I just read too much into your comment sry. :))

No it's fine. My comment did seem kind of convoluted now that I look at it... :)

tbh, I don't think I can ever like them or any JE >.< waaay too lulzy for my taste
kazeyumi 3rd-Apr-2012 02:13 pm (UTC)
lol you and me both!
uledy 3rd-Apr-2012 02:39 pm (UTC)
haha. Actually, no I'm not. I find this incredibly lulzy and so do most shawols...Fail attempt at trolling...and in your own post at that. *2nd hand embarrasssment*

Honey, if you're trying to bait and create a juvenile fan war, it's not going to happen. Each group has their own charm and appeal. They can't even be compared. Each fan values something different. That's it. Besides if you've been following SHINee's career (a group you apparently hate), then you've wasted a solid 4 years of your life...

Your persistence is admirable, I must say. It must be terribly exhausting to fight a battle with no opponents. I'm not bashing "your boys" I you'd bothered to read any of my recent comments. But some people are naturally adversarial, especially when the have anonymity of the internet.

I have nothing else to do at work right now, so this is entertaining.

Just ignore them, I'd say tbqh. They can stan a group that can look super weird on most days and then wonder how one can stan the flawlessness that is JE.

Keep in mind, the have been a group for a number of years and have accumulated a very large fanbase over the last 7-8 years. They have loyal fans and a lot of them. Those people have been waiting ages for them to debut.

It may not appeal to you, that's fine. However, they appeal to a lot of people including myself. XD

And I agree that they are silly, but they are loved for it. And, they aren't always silly.

Wow that's some serious anticipation on the fans' part! I don't know if I could make it that long...I guess that makes their current success an even greater deal since it was a long time coming. Thanks for the info~!

I suppose it's the same when any idol group does something silly: to those on the outside it looks ridiculous but those on the inside understand who the artists really are and find it endearing :)
