Arashi and NMB48 Face-Off on May 9th

NMB48
, the youngest sub-unit of AKB48, have managed to rank first in Oricon music first week sales for three consecutive times since their record debut. However, NMB48's quest for four consecutive number 1 single might be put on hold with Johnny's Entertainment Arashi announcing the release of their "Face Down" single on May 9th.

The girls of NMB48 have topped Oricon weekly ranking for their past three singles- "Zetsumetsu Kurokami Shōjo", "Oh My God!", and Junjou U-19". Those singles sold more than 200,000 for the first week. But the girls will soon face their biggest hurdle with popular boy group- Arashi. Arashi's "Wild at Heart" managed to snag the top spot with more than 550,000 sales for their first week.

However, rumors have surfaced that NMB48's 4th single "Nagiichi" will contain ballots for the upcoming Senbatsu election on June 6th. If it were true, then this battle for the top spot might be not one sided at all.

NMB48's "Nagiichi" and Arashi's "Face Down" will both be released on May 9th.

Who do you think will reign supreme on May 9th?

Shame on Arashi for picking a fight with AKB's baby sister. Lol if they wanted it to be a big deal they should have went face on with AKB.

Which they clearly won't do since their sales are no match for akb's current sales. They should have battled it out with SKE at least who has a more likely chance of beating them based on recent sales and cause SKE's been out longer too.

NMB only debuted their first single last year. Johnny's really is shameless.

lols all NMB needs to do now is include Acchan in their handshake events!! That way we'll get acchan fans buying nmb's single for handshake! h. lol dirty method but heyy we had Sexy Zone doing that against Not Yet. Though I do know of actual acchan fans who are nmb fans as well. aha

though nah, I suppose that's not a good idea coz haters will come and say nmb was just riding acchan's popularity. I kinda wanna see what nmb can manage on their own too. XD

I'm may be biased but I really hope that Arashi will get No.1, else their hard work since Pikanchi Double will have to be gone to waste. I don't really like any 48 groups because I think they have too much members to focus on each member individually. But, no matter what, I still want Arashi to win.. TT I'm pretty scared y'all know? Wild at Heart competed with SDN48 and it's a great relief for me that they won no.1. I couldn't sleep for that whole week until the weekly Oricon chart was released. Praying that Arashi will win...:DD

No competition, just wanna see Top 3 singles with over 100,000 in sales, if ya know what I mean. ;)

May 9th will be a tough week, and hopefully will cover for the bitterness I had during the December 7th 2011 week.
