Poll: Child-rearing and doting fathers

It’s a while since I’ve had an iShare survey, so I’m not just pleased to see an update, but also to see a rather interesting topic being surveyed, that of child-rearing and doting fathers, with both the husbands rating themselves and wives rating their husbands.

Demographics

Over the 15th and 16th of March 2012 726 members of the CLUB BBQ free email forwarding service completed a private internet-based questionnaire. 50.3% of the sample were female, 33.7% in their twenties, 33.2% in their thirties, and 33.1% in their forties, furthermore, all were married with a pre-school child. The survey was conducted in conjunction with Benesse’s Women’s Mall.

If you want to find out how doting a parent you are, Benesse’s Women’s Mall offer a self-test.

In the survey below, I use the Japanese term イクメン, ikumen, which describes men who proactively take part in child-rearing, and who grow up themselves while enjoying child-rearing.

"What doting father activities do you, your husband actually carry out?"
When my wife scolds our child, I always protect the child.

I am soooo annoyed by this answer -_-
This is why many kids nowadays hates their mom, it's not healthy to defend your kids in front of your wife!

Well it is a survey about doting fathers, not good parenting!

Who cares though? I just pointed out that this kind of doting is unhealthy (while for the other answers, I'm pretty OK with them) and it happens anywhere in the world.

IA, this kind of parenting is very unhealthy. Both parents need to be on the same side or the child will take advantage of them, as well as feeling insecure and confused.

Also sending your child to acting/modelling auditions doesn't make you a doting parent.

Yeah I know similar case like this that happens in my cousin's family, I feel kinda sad for the mother.

LMAO maybe the parents think it's similar like introducing the kids for new hobbies like drawing, playing piano, singing etc. As long as they're not trying to force the kids to enter the idol world ._.
Idol world sucks.

I don't think they're all trying to force their kids into the idol world. I think it's more like wanting to show off their child.
