Indie idol confesses to her dark past [TRIGGERING: RAPE, SELF HARM, CHILD ABUSE/PEDO, SUICIDE]

An underaged female idol wrote a blog post recently about how she had been raped, also partook in underage drinking, smoking, money-borrowing, and compensation dating. She alleged, “I was forced into his car and then raped.”

This has caused quite a stir on the internet…

The idol in question is Miaan. On April 6th, she wrote a blog entry about what she had experienced thus far as an idol, and that blog entry has been the point of some heated discussions online about the state of the entertainment industry.

[TRIGGERING: RAPE, SELF HARM, CHILD ABUSE/PEDO, SUICIDE]

Miaan wrote about her upbringing, her loneliness, and her experiences in being the victim of bullying. In middle school, she committed self-harm by cutting her wrists because she felt life had no meaning. At the same time, her relationships with her friends also deteriorated.

After that, she fell in love with a host, and borrowed money for him under her name, and was forced to prostitute herself as a result. She suffered a mental breakdown, and she started looking for other means of income through cell-phone dating sites. In writing, the men promised to lend her the money, but in reality, she’d meet up with them and they’d have their way with her, going as far as raping her.

After such a shocking confession, her management agency fired her.

You should probably add specific trigger warnings, there's a lot of stuff happening here. :( Things like this make me so angry. Her agency is unbelievably cruel to do something like that.

Thank you for telling me, I'll add them in.

It makes me so angry and sad for the girl. I hope someone will help her get through all of this.

I really hope she will get some help, though I'm not sure judging from what I've heard about their way of dealingwith thiese sorts of things :/

"After such a shocking confession, her management agency fired her."

I'm sure that helps, Japan.

It's ridiculous that they fired her. I'm actually really curious how her readers took it and if they are being supportive of her.

On another note though, I wasn't aware that the entire country of Japan fired her.
synthesizia 11th-Apr-2012 12:46 am (UTC)
Her bravery for admitting this is very admirable. I cannot believe her agency would rather fire her than encourage her to become a spokesperson to speak out against all this awful shit that happens to so many other kids.

After such a shocking confession, her management agency fired her.

jfc.

She's incredibly brave for going public about this. I hope it helps her find peace.

I hope one day Japan learns how to deal with victims of abuse

Dick move, agency. Dick move.

Good Lord poor girl~

"After such a shocking confession, her management agency fired her."

A good example of how agencies don´t give a shit about the human beings being exploted by them.
nova_usagi 11th-Apr-2012 07:27 am (UTC)
This. It`s all about money and protecting the agency image.
chiima 11th-Apr-2012 01:04 am (UTC)
This really makes me wonder what other Idols go through this! It makes the Idol industry look a lot scarier, now...

And seriously, her agency are that self-centred and dickish? I would sue the agency if they hid the shady, behind the scenes acts that go on, allowing their Idols to be hurt! It's disgusting what these people do to their acts!
prushrush 11th-Apr-2012 01:41 am (UTC)
Yes, because if she's a prostitute, she's beyond redemption.

Bullshit.

Attitudes like yours are what keep women in the life and ultimately kill them.
fumine 11th-Apr-2012 01:09 am (UTC)
I know you like your idols immaculate, Japan...but what a shitty and shameful move from her agency.
mrwaffle 11th-Apr-2012 01:31 am (UTC)
Don't think there's nearly enough info to make any judgement calls here. Slagging off her agency because of one line without details is a bit pointless.
nonightland 11th-Apr-2012 01:37 am (UTC)
they FIRED her? wtf

poor girl, terrible story. she's only one year older than me, that's so shocking. i hope she'll find a new, better agency..
wayof_life 11th-Apr-2012 01:37 am (UTC)
I can understand why the agency fired here (because of all the possible implications) but I would like to see them doing something to help her. What's done is done, but I think she needs some help to save her soul. Her brain's probably all messed up with all that had happened, self-blaming etc would not be unusual...
prushrush 11th-Apr-2012 01:39 am (UTC)
I hope that she finds the help and strength she needs to get past this.

I don't agree with her agency for firing her, but we don't know what happened behind the scenes with them.
