Indie idol confesses to her dark past [TRIGGERING: RAPE, SELF HARM, CHILD ABUSE/PEDO, SUICIDE]

An underaged female idol wrote a blog post recently about how she had been raped, also partook in underage drinking, smoking, money-borrowing, and compensation dating. She alleged, “I was forced into his car and then raped.”

This has caused quite a stir on the internet…

The idol in question is Miaan. On April 6th, she wrote a blog entry about what she had experienced thus far as an idol, and that blog entry has been the point of some heated discussions online about the state of the entertainment industry.

[TRIGGERING: RAPE, SELF HARM, CHILD ABUSE/PEDO, SUICIDE]

Miaan wrote about her upbringing, her loneliness, and her experiences in being the victim of bullying. In middle school, she committed self-harm by cutting her wrists because she felt life had no meaning. At the same time, her relationships with her friends also deteriorated.

After that, she fell in love with a host, and borrowed money for him under her name, and was forced to prostitute herself as a result. She suffered a mental breakdown, and she started looking for other means of income through cell-phone dating sites. In writing, the men promised to lend her the money, but in reality, she’d meet up with them and they’d have their way with her, going as far as raping her.

After such a shocking confession, her management agency fired her.

That's still an idol. If you think this shit doesn't happen with "legit" agencies you are delusional because it was pretty much proven it already did.

I didn't say they did. However I wouldn't be surprised if this stuff went on behind the scenes a lot in "legit" agencies and everyone knows about Johnny and the sketchy things the AKB girls got in trouble for. Plus little agencies have this problem as well.

It's not the agency's fault she did this and I don't blame them for firing her but they are assholes. The poor girl has had a shitty life that she doesn't deserve to have and she needs support at this time, not hate or people shaming her.

Why is it so strange to you that it happens? You should not be so ignorant about such things. I'm not saying that everyone is taken advantage of because I don't believe that but chances are some companies are going to take advantage of young untalented pretty girls who are away from their families and at some point. Duh.

What were the accusations against Johnny for if nothing ever happens? Are you saying those people who accused him were lying because your precious Jpop can't be tainted at all because everything in Japan is perfect and kawaii desu?

Dude there are so many women who get raped by superiors and bosses at regular companies I have no doubt in my mind that the idol industry is no exception no matter how big or small the office.

While I would think (and sincerely hope) it's not something that many are faced with, the reality is that it happens more often than you would think.

I think people are generally just expressing their outrage at how the industry obviously ignores when people like this need help or some kind of intervention as long as it generates profits.

Although I agree that she obviously can't work in these conditions and needs to be let go, the fact of the matter is that I'm sure these conditions were affecting her long before she posted this blog, the company knew it, but instead chose to stay silent, ignored, and/or exasperated her condition in order to hopefully turn a profit. Now that she's wrote this entry, her "pure" image is ruined and she got canned because she will no longer be profitable without that.

So the problem isn't the fact that she was let go, it's the fact she was only let go when the company could no longer squeeze anything out of her like a disposable thing instead of stepping in earlier to try to help or letting her go in order for her to get help. There was a better way to handle this than how they did.

Ooh, what sketchy things did the AKB girls get in trouble for? When/who got in trouble?
