X Japan wins the “Best International Band” Award at the Golden Gods Awards

Japanese rock band X Japan took home the award for Best International Band Wednesday night at the Golden Gods Awards, after becoming the first Asian band to ever be nominated America’s biggest hard rock awards show..

X Japan beat out internationally acclaimed Rammstein (Germany), Lacuna Coil (Italy), Sepultura (Brazil), Behemoth (Poland), and Meshuggah (Sweden).

Below, Yoshiki’s acceptance speech for the award:
Thank you Revolver. Thank you so much for recognizing us. Some people might have heard of us, we're from Japan. Well, our band name is X Japan. We toured North America in 2010, and did our first world tour last year. Now we are finishing our first worldwide debut album. And we are planning on doing another world tour soon. And to our beloved fans: Thank you so much for your support, we are going to keep on rocking. And we f*cking love you.”

Held at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, the fourth annual Golden Gods awards handed out 11 awards Wednesday night. Other winners included Avenged Sevenfold, Slash, Korn, and Evanescence. The Black Carpet and Show was broadcasted on XBox Live and will be aired again this year on VH1.

X Japan is one of the most successful rock bands in Japanese history. The group plans to release their first English language album and is currently scheduling their next world tour.

Collection of Yoshiki's tweets:
"OMG! We won!! We fxxkin love you!! 勝ったよ~!!! みんなのおかげだよ!!"
"We have the most amazing fans in the world!! You are amazing.. Love you so much!!!自分達のファンは世界一だ!!"
"....I'm at home celebrating, eating chocolate... haha! ...今家でお祝いにチョコを食べている。。。
"To our beloved fans, this award is for you!! Thank you so much!! 親愛なるファンのみんなへ、この賞をみんなに捧げる!! ありがとう!!

1 - 2 - 3
Special mention to this website that calls the victory of X Japan the "biggest upset tonight"... [Well, thanks for ignoring/disrespecting the vote of the fans]

I have to say it - "We are X!" ^_^
Couldn't watch the event sadly due to time differences, but the actual awarding ceremony seemed ...pretty lame. I think it's rather obvious that people wanted someone else to win, I can understand that but whatever happened to professionalism?

PS: First time posting, I hope this is okay.

I wonder what that band presenting them with the award would have said if they knew the dainty, pretty man in front of them literally ruined his neck by playing so fucking hard and has been handed aa doctor's note saying 'if you play anymore, you're going to go disabled' and threw it away. Or with Toshi, when his psycho ex-wife and cult dragged him down, he still showed up with a busted throat to perform. Or, if you ask a fan who the hell hide was, they can still answer even despite him having passed away in '98. Same for Taiji. Or that X Japan sold out the Tokyo dome... 18 times (counting their most recent, that would bump to 20.) Or that X sold out Roseland ballroom (which is a pretty popular venue in NY that rock bands play) and actually had to KEEP the doors open because they had more tickets sold than the number of spots available in the place. Or that, before 6, the entire building had a line wrapping around the block--twice.

Hell, even if they knew people went out and learned how to properly sing Endless Rain in Japanese, even though they didn't have a fuckin' clue what they were singing, and only knew what they were feeling.

I wonder if those people in the audience would have been as spectacularly rude, or those presenters being kind of stand-offish, if they knew any of that.

I do hope they find out about this afterwards, so that they realize what a spectacular job their did at being dicks.

Poor Yoshiki :/ Getting the award you so hoped for, in that kind of environment...

He was probably like "Fuck alllllll you bitches."

No, it was extremely rude. Have the decency to fucking clap. Don't be dicks to other bands.

I mailed Musicians Institute to find out who the fuck that band was.

I got this as a reply:
"Musicians Institute isn't affiliated in any way with Anthrax. We were just sponsors of the award. We are proud to support music of all genres that are pushing boundaries all around the world."

So the band is called Anthrax.
Just thought I'd let you know in case you want to do it like me and avoid anything coming from those d*ckheads. -_-

Are they aware of what a big bag of dicks they were to the band? Seriously...
