DSP looking to take legal action against magazine

A Japanese magazine recently took a close-up of the inside of Goo Hara’s skirt and used it as their cover picture. As a result, DSP Media is looking into what legal options it may take against the magazine.

On May 14, Goo’s agency, DSP Media, said, "The magazine is a popular Japanese adult magazine and they took a picture of the inside of Goo’s skirt. They report on celebrities and maliciously release edited and suggestive pictures of them."

"We are currently checking how the magazine reports did on our entertainers and we are also considering taking legal action against the magazine, with Japanese DSP Media and Universal Music."

The picture was taken when Goo attended the ’2011 Best Dressed Awards,’ which was held in November in Japan.

A follow up to this post.

LOL, how about instead of that, you teach your idols to sit properly or use longer skirts? 8D
eishastan 14th-May-2012 07:57 pm (UTC)
So it's her fault that a bunch of perverts decided to zoom in her crotch area and publish a picture of it? so she deserves to have that kind of pictures published just cause she was wearing a short skirt?

I can't with your comment.
falsie 14th-May-2012 08:19 pm (UTC)
im disgusted.
fuck anyone who suggests that this is in any way goo hara's fault cuz ur dumb as shit.

Mte.

Not to sound like a victim-blamer {because perverts are disgusting and need to fuck off, in all honesty}, but I was always taught that if you're wearing a skirt, you should sit cross-legged to avoid the panty-flash. Especially if you're wearing a shorter skirt. {In other words, wear what you want and be happy, but be aware that perverts do exist and if you don't want to be exposed like that, take measures yourself to make sure it doesn't happen.} Either way, I hope her company is able to get retribution for this. :/

o_o she was probably moving at that moment. and women in japan dun cross legs, they join the legs together then tilt them to theside a bit o_o it's another way to prevent it >.>

This is seriously me not doing the victim blaming thing, and me really just kind of confused, but I'm at a loss as to how this could really be a court case? I mean, it's not like the cameraman stuck his camera up Goo Hara's skirt. Yes, what they did was tacky and really just disgustingly unnecessary, but they took a picture of a public event and zoomed in. To me, this is basically the same as any of those cameramen in any performance that see females (sometimes adults, sometimes NOT) and zooming in on their asses when they're wearing tiny shorts or something, and that happens plenty of times without anyone caring. I just... I don't know, I'm kind of at a loss. I've been disgusted by plenty of things that happen in the Japanese entertainment industry (and in the Korean one too) when no one else really seemed to give a damn.

And just thinking about poor Goo Hara amidst all this, I can't help but feel like all this attention a court case would give to her... I just think it would be better if people let her move on and live her life without continuing to draw attention to this.

(Again, I'm very sorry if anything in here offends anyone, as I'm truly trying not to. I'm just confused.)
muzikiz4evaluv 14th-May-2012 09:07 pm (UTC)
seriously they most likely are going to go with defamation of character which will go nowhere b/c it would probably made her more popular :p

like seriously all they got was a thigh shot the little blur thing was so misleading and yes tacky as hell but hey bullshit sells.
muzikiz4evaluv 14th-May-2012 09:03 pm (UTC)
fucking pervs!!!!poor girl :(

i have a feeling this wont go n e where tho....
kazu_kumaguro 14th-May-2012 09:27 pm (UTC)
wow the comments here.
and tbh I'd like to see them winning this, if they can.
I mean this is like taking a bad shoot, it's even in public event.
plus this magazine has been doing this since forever, I don't think anyone can escape from this.
this has to be stopped, yes, but technically this isn't illegal, just saying.
kazu_kumaguro 14th-May-2012 09:28 pm (UTC)
and the one who blurred it isn't the magazine fyi.
bittersweet_bun 14th-May-2012 09:34 pm (UTC)
How Goo Hara's sitting or dressed isn't the problem here. I'm fed up with people saying women should have to do this and that in order to prevent these things from happening (not just this case, but in general)... you know what would make this actually stop? Making the men stop. Because by saying that women ~should have known better~ really only lets the men off the hook.
lillie_frost 14th-May-2012 09:34 pm (UTC)
Are ppl here actually saying this is the girl's fault for wearing a skirt? -_-
moob 14th-May-2012 09:41 pm (UTC)
victim blaming is a haute nu trend didn't you know
thatbananayes 14th-May-2012 09:40 pm (UTC)
smh @ ppl immediately comparing an upskirt shot to rape. Not every "Girl's fault" thing is comparable to rape, just so you know. Duuuuumb.
flutterbychild9 14th-May-2012 09:50 pm (UTC)
+1
xaoiholic 14th-May-2012 09:40 pm (UTC)
Are people even aware of the fact HARA DOES NOT PICK HER OUTFIT HERSELF?

Idk but what are all the "she should have prevented this, she's wearing the skirt"s and the "she called it on herself in the #1 most perverted country!"s. I find it very similar to victim blaming, tyvm.
liime_arix 14th-May-2012 09:43 pm (UTC)

Some of the people in this post look so stupid. Keep digging a deeper hole for yourselves dearies.
xiahrisma 14th-May-2012 09:57 pm (UTC)
It's kinda painful to see so many people explaining it to them and they keep victim-blaming I hate this world
j_o_n_n_o 14th-May-2012 10:01 pm (UTC)
nvr stop victim blaming and screaming troll when someone points out you're wrong, arama
mellastella 14th-May-2012 10:02 pm (UTC)
At this point, I don't even know what to think. If I say one thing, people attack. If I say another, people attack. I thought opinions were opinions, you know, things that aren't necessarily true, but are just what people believe. Who are we to judge what opinion is right or wrong? If that's what they think, let them be (unless it's something on the topic of "rape/murder/suicide/any other really sensitive topic you can think of").

Another thing, why does everyone get so vicious over the internet? Just because we're anonymous doesn't mean that the people we talk to aren't real people or people who don't have feelings. Seriously, some of the people in this post can get real vicious real fast if someone goes against their opinion. Why? Because that opinion is "wrong"?

I just . . . Can't people be nice anymore? Is it so hard to have a simple conversation without having to insult others? You don't have to agree with them, but you don't have to be rude if you don't either.

I've had people attack me for my opinions, too, and I've told people they were "wrong" for believing what they believe. But I'm trying something new. It's called "civility". Anyone wanna join?

Sadly, I get the feeling someone's bound to attack me for this, saying something like, "Oh look at you, Goody-Two Shoes, preaching to everyone blahblahblah, get off your high horse bitch." :/

/soapbox rant (again)

Sorry about the long post. orz
flutterbychild9 14th-May-2012 11:32 pm (UTC)
This is one of the reasons I just stopped replying. Don't want to start a pointless flame war, don't want to shove my opinion down others' throats. I know where I stand on this issue, and if some random anons on the internet think I'm a bad person - so what. No skin off my back. :)

Off-topic, but I really like your icon. I forgot the comedian's name, though. ^__^U

EDIT: He's from Hannya! That's all I remember, tbh. xD

Ok..wow..the victim blaming.......yeah..

Anyway this won't go any where. I mean since there's alot of tabloid newspaper that do these kind of upskirt shot and it's just her thigh, the most they can do is get an apology maybe and some promotion because of the scandal.

Poor Hara :\
I hope this will just blow over quick and we can just move on....reading the comments on the article on AKP make me want to punch something.
asaphira_sachi 14th-May-2012 10:52 pm (UTC)
Well, well. Didn't expect this post to get blown out of proportion so fast.

litost 14th-May-2012 11:04 pm (UTC)
smh at the victim blaming in this post. i hope you realise the issue at hand is that people are compromising basic morals and ethics to be publishing such photos, not that hara didn't cross her legs at an event.
lip_glossy 14th-May-2012 11:04 pm (UTC)
yup, sue them and make them pay, perverts...

whether or not she's sitting with her legs close or open, they have no right to make a zoom in blow up on the front of their magazine of her crotch...period.

2worldsend 14th-May-2012 11:05 pm (UTC)
this happens in HK entertainment all the time but you don't see them celebs or their companies suing the magazines for that >_>

whatever floats their boat...

still doesn't make it right
taylorniw 14th-May-2012 11:24 pm (UTC)
I don't see DSP winning the case, tbh (those who do are being a little too idealistic). Things like this happen pretty often and no one gets in trouble for it. The magazine doesn't get in trouble and gets more publicity.

xxpopopxx 14th-May-2012 11:48 pm (UTC)
Do people expect her to sit "cross-legged" for the WHOLE duration of the event?? She's not some sort of robot who can stay in the same position, heck I change the way I sit every 5 minutes as it's hard staying in a same position. Girl should be able to move around if she wants!!

And this "crotch shot" is really embarrassing for the magazine it's nowhere near "crotch shot" and not as bad as some of the shots of celebs in Hollywood
icehism 14th-May-2012 11:56 pm (UTC)
Poor goohara

Too bad DSP won't win the case.
