Are you serious? Popularity (+ money) is almost the only thing she cares about, and that's why she keeps working with famous producers and shows a lot of skin on her album covers. After she got fired from Universal, she moved to Paris just to say "oh, Japanese peopled don't get me", but didn't become popular there either (even though she suddenly changed her title to the "Anime queen from Japan"), so came back to Japan and released an album that consists of iTune songs which were initially exclusive to her (non-existent) French fans.
Now she sells over-priced cosmetic products in addition to the Carolina clothing line (she actually sold Carolina to a large apparel company last year to make extra $$$ while remaining as a "brand producer"...she fired most of the original Carolina staff tho). And she gets her face done and makes up fake scandals on a regular basis. But unfortunately for her, Kyarypamyupamyu has already replaced her and become a lot more popular in Japan.
I love some of MEG songs, but is she a true artist? The answer is "no" imo.
This comment is disgusting. You don't even know what you're saying.
1. She did not get fired from Universal. Her contract expired so she decided not to renew and move somewhere else. She got picked up with unBORDE and Starchild Records instantly so it's not like she was around for months or years without being in any label. 2. that's why she keeps working with famous producers and shows a lot of skin on her album covers. Seriously? Are you even serious with this? The most she shows are her legs when it comes to her album/single covers, and it's not even if all of them. It's not like she's the only singer who shows "skin" and she's not even showing that much compared to others. And if she is, so what? It's her choice. She still looks amazing. There are singers (both male and female) in the music industry that show way more skin and you don't see anyone complaining. 3. She went to Paris to take a BREAK. Not to debut there and become a popular singer. 4. Her French digital singles were just a side-project she was working on. 5. Her French fanbase may be really small, but it is not non-existent. 6. Whatever she wants to do with CAROLINA GLASER is her decision. So what if she sold it to a larger apparel company? Think of the benefits this brings her label. 7. Fake scandals? Care to contribute? 8. MEG and Kyary are NOTHING alike. They share the same producer, and that's about it. The work Nakata has done with both of them are clearly different even if they're both in the electropop genre. Therefore, it is impossible for her to "replace" MEG. They don't even aim for the same demographic, jfc. 9. MEG is an outstanding fashion designer, art director, and great lyricists. Sure, she might not be great as a singer (and I'm saying this as a huge MEG stan), but she doesn't need to in her genre. This is enough for me to view her as a true artist.
Yes, of course, like any other human MEG will also care about money. I mean, she has to make a living, right? And why is she to blame if she wants a luxurious lifestyle? She has the right to with all her hard work. But you claiming that she's doing all of this just because she cares about money and nothing else is very narrow minded.
Honestly, you don't have the right to talk about MEG like you know her. Nothing of what you said are facts. Try harder next time.
...ok I'm seriously scared and surprised by your comment. I didn't know there were people who actually believe in her tbh... she's just a former (reader/) model who knows some powerful people in the industry after all..
Wow. Get out. Just get out. Do all of us a favor. Do yourself a favor.
How can you think no one would flip tables over your disgusting comment? Do you just want attention? Is that it? Does speaking shit about someone make you feel special? You didn't even contribute to your "claims." Smh tbh.
Seriously, like... on all of that. She wasn't fired, she left on her own terms (she was photographed at an event with Universal staff some time afterwards so I wouldn't say it was on bad ones either). And she's never said the Japanese don't get her; she was tired from working all the time and needed a break to love music again, and having that time away showed her things she loved about Japan as well. And she never intended to sell her cover album, but she got offers to release it from labels all over Japan while she was in France and finally settled on one she liked.
I didn't say she doesn't care about money, either, just not sales regarding her music. I'm fully aware that she does fashion and now cosmetics work to support herself, but if she were ever to be dropped from a label again, I'm sure she'd go back to releasing independently just because music is what she most wants to do. Why not work with big producers when she's at a level in the industry that allows her to do so? She's worked with smaller ones just as often (even when she was at the height of her popularity with Nakata), so she's not rejecting anyone who won't make her famous or something. Considering the last ~scandal I saw from her was two years ago, I'd love to know about all of these other ones that supposedly exist.
