Finnish teenpop singer ripping off Kyarypamyupamyu's style?



Finnish teenpop singer Tuuli recently released her debut music video titled "Salaisuudet" with many similarities to those of Kyarypamyupamyu's music video "PONPONPON." The most notable one being the main set of the music video which could just be an identical copy of the main set of "PONPONPON". See for yourself below!

Well... I wouldn't call it a 'rip off' since Kyary isn't really THAT original and one of a kind...
It's the same as assulting Kyary for being a rip off of Lady Gaga. They might be somewhat similar, but electropop and fancy dresses aren't reserved only for Gaga. It's the same here - being cute and making electropop music doesn't make her a copy of Kyary.

The one who designed the set for the chorus part was definitely inspired by PONPONPON. I mean, the floor, curtains, the wall and the cute stuff at the sides are clearly the same but in different colours.

It's clearly inspired. The set designer or director obviously saw the PonPonPon pv and was inspired by the set, use of green screen and 3D word type popping up. Yes, it's close to a rip off (the striped wallpaper and patterned floor particularly gives it away) but they probably also thought no one would notice and it's just lazy creative production on their part more than anything.

OR we accept that people like Katy Perry and countless other before then have been doing this style longer than that Kyary girl. (It actually reminded me of one the Brilliant Green's girl alter ego)

Did you see the both sets though? They're exactly the same. The point is not that they're both cute and colorful, the point is that she directly copied the same set in Kyary's PONPONPON.

OP keeps saying the set are exactly the same, but.. I mean, seriously, what's the same? The wallpaper & curtains, and the fact that she's in the center with stuff on both sides?? That's supposed to be like a dollhouse. I've seen many dollhouses with the same sort of background, not only in music videos.

The song isn't similar at all.
The video, as a whole, isn't nearly the same..
Just because one artist has a video where at one point they're in a room with blue candy-pop wallpaper and pink curtains, doesn't mean another artist can't have a video where at one point they're in a room with pink candy-pop wallpaper and pink curtains. That's stupid. The background is so generic to begin with.

That'd be like me saying "Oh, this person has a dollhouse set just like (insert artist here) had.. They're copying them!!" and crying plagiarism. It's stupid.


Oh, and OP, you might want to change the title of this.. Kyary's "style" isn't being ripped off at all. That title makes it seem like she's the first one to be in that genre of music, or that her style of music is only hers. You're meaning to say the set is "exactly the same", so it would be "music video," not style.
And like Kyary's "style" isn't a rip-off.. C'mon, really?

First of all, I never said anything about the music. The music isn't the same at all. I'm talking about the music VIDEO. And the whole dollhouse thing, it isn't JUST the background. It's everything. It's basically Kyary's set but with less stuff. And in the music video the girl is also riding a scooter and whatnot just like Kyary.



I mean, are you blind... or? Did you really watch both videos all the way through?

And yes, the title is correct. That music video is Kyary's "style" and this girl copied it. No doubt on that. Who is Kyary ripping off btw? Just wondering.

the set is super similar. yeah may look like she copied kyari-'s style and whole pop fashion. copy or not, the graphics in the music video are done so much more cheapy. seems like a school project. i hope that's not her official cd cover. the inconsistency of it kills me. if it was intentionally copied they should have copied the quality too.

Putting aside whether it's a copy or not -- can you really put all the blame on the singer? Aren't video concepts the job of the director or some sort of designer (this is an honest question so no hate please)?
