avex launches talent search in L.A.


Japanese music company avex is holding auditions for entertainers in Los Angeles, California to perform in Japan, Asia, and the entire world!


This time, they are looking for different types of entertainers such as singers, rappers, models, actors, and entertainers. If you are successful in the audition, you will have an opportunity to debut in major record labels, professional backup debuts, be backup dancers, perform in musical pieces, or be in magazine spreads.


Application Period: (only entries through the website are accepted)
From June 11th 2012 ~ June 24th at 11:00 PM Pacific time.

Since the application and audition are both performed in Japanese, the ability to understand Japanese is required. (If the applicant is under 20 years of age, a guardians consent will be required.) After the first audition(application screening), you must be able to do a performance given at a certain place in the Hollywood- Los Angeles area on Sunday, July 1st 2012.

Tbh, Japan has a better track record of PoC as singers than some other countries in Asia.

Wow, that's bigger than I expected. I really like how they included guitarists and other instrument players as well as lyricists and composers.

Sounds interesting, i wonder tho, are they only looking for asians or any race?

i'm wondering because that's how SM auditions go. They only look for asians, and maybe mixed.

In all seriousness though I wish whoever does this luck in achieving whatever goal they want to achieve by pursuing their dreams doing this audition. I think would be a great jumping point for anyone looking to do an overseas based entertainment career if that's what they want to do.

LA is about 4-5 hours away by car from where i live. i know and understand some japanese......but i have no musical talent what so ever lol...:( oh well XD it's not my dream anyawys, but even if i was able to understand japanese fluently, and have some talent, i think it would be something interesting to check out.

...well if I had the money (I mean, I got the car) I would totally take a road trip. however I'm not sure how well I can really do. I can sing...not sure how well my vocals actually are but my pronunciation is pretty good. Dancing...I watch too much dance moms...they turn out to be more of martial arts moves damn it lol. Understanding Japanese? Somewhat. I need more practice...plus more on reading...

hmm, can I handle some weird scandal, not too sure about that. not to be a downer but I am somewhat on the 'too heavy' side for the media the media sucks, honestly.

Not gonna lie, this is kind of tempting! I actually considered trying to go to some auditions when I was living in Japan in my teens, but I was too afraid of failing, and also that my background would be treated as a gimmick, assuming I had any success. These few years later, I suppose I feel the same about the second part. Recently came across the balls to try my hand in the local market, though. Just got an audition (my first) for an independent film later this week.

Good luck to anyone who does this! Please don't let being embarrassed hold you back if this is what you wanna do. I did for ten years.

The first thing I thought is I feel sorry for the talent scouts who have to sit through some weeaboos auditioning for their kawaii desu japan dream and cringe at the thought any dakota roses popping about. Otherwise, I really hope there be some promising talents that audition and good luck.
