Jpop Empress Ayumi Hamasaki is set to release her first best album since A COMPLETE (2008) on August 8.

From Ayu's Weibo:

AYU new album "A SUMMER BEST" released 8/8! 26 summer hits including "BLUE BIRD", "Greatful Days" and "July 1st" + new track "You & Me"!

Out on 2CDs or a 2CD+DVD set including the music video for "You & Me", a-nation footage and other rarities available for the first time!

Obviously its because Party Kween did terrible. It is terrible.
This coming from a long-time Ayu fan.
Mini-album with *new* songs would have been better.

mte, i think they plan on releasing another BEST album in 2013 that's it doesn't have a lot of her current songs.

Damn...she's following the wrong path. She's turning into those BEST artists, instead of new material. I wouldn't even mind 1 remix album of Party Queen.

MTE! you don't know how shitty it is as a long time fan, to see her legend get ruined like this. but tbh at least she's very happy these days.

her last best of was in 2008 and since she managed to release 4 albums and a 1 mini album so she should have waited 1 year at least.

i blame avex tho.

It does feel bad, but you're right - if she's happy that's what really matters. I gotta keep reminding myself about that.

Btw A Ballads & A Best 2, there was 4 years. I guess it was about time?
Looking through her discography on wiki (since I can't remember dates, lol), I'm seeing again that she released 2 albums in the same year, 4 times. I guess when inspiration hits, you can't help but keep going.

Ah yes, the company! I always remembered when Utada said on her twitter that her English best album was done without her consent and wished her fans wouldn't buy it.

like wtf is a summer hits album????? even for kuu it seems desperate (jk i still love her)

these are the moments where im glad namie isn't managed by avex trax anymore.

lmao!! kuu <3 I notice that she likes naming a lot of things. I guess since its being released during the summer it must be "Summer hits". The songs do feel summery, except for ANother song, Moon, & Blossom. (Then again, I dont kno Japanese nor remember the translations. ^^;; )

Those songs, Moon blossom far away, are called "sad" summer songs :P

anyways, yes Namie is under avex and releases under them but is not managed by avex anymore, she's managed by vision factory and has been for a long time.

Why release another compilation album? It's getting irritating now.. why won't let Ayu release a 51st single instead? Either way, Party Queen was not promoted very well imo.

I still have my "fairyland" and "&" singles here at home. Listening to it rn.

They have their 2 biggest female artist release summer best album (wtf is that even) slap on one new song so that fans would buy it. Almost all the songs on this release most ayu fans own TWICE.

oh well, im probably gonna buy it anyways T_T
