To celebrate the release of the group’s 50th single “One Two Three / The Matenrou Show“, Recochoku asked their users what their favorite song was by Morning Musume.
The votes were tallied through Recochoku from June 22nd through June 29th, and the song bringing the most votes being the title track of their latest single “Renai Hunter“, which was released on April 11th. “Renai Hunter” was the group’s forty-ninth single overall and the last for seventh generation leader Niigaki Risa before her graduation earlier this year. “[I chose this song] because it’s got this fighting spirit in it [that says] ‘the new Morning Musume has begun’! Since there’s a lot of new members, I want them to try their hardest,” said one female voter in her teens. Another male user commented, “It’s Gaki-san’s graduation single! So I think it’s okay to call this one Gaki-san’s song. I can’t watch Gaki-san’s line at the end without tearing up.”
Coming in second place is the group’s hit single “LOVE Machine“, which was released in September of 1999. “This song brings back memories. When I was in elementary school, I’d sing and dance to it with my friends everyday,” said a user in her twenties. Another older fan recalled the group’s heyday with fondness. “I miss Gomaki singing as the center after she was added in,” he commented. “I also think it’s a song that gives you energy.”
