Oh Happy Day: New Sailor Moon Anime for 2013



This just in: At a Sailor Moon 20th anniversary talk event at Nicofare in Japan (Nico live link here), series creator Naoko Takeuchi announced that the Soldier of Love herself would be gracing the TV screens of Japanese anime fans in 2013 via a new, remade anime series. Momoiro Clover Z (Moretsu Pirates) will preform the opening theme song to the new series.

Although the geek idol group is currently in France for Japan Expo 2012, the organisers of the Sailor Moon talk event had the Momoiro Clover Z girls perform the opening theme – as well as their other hit songs – and streamed it over to the Japanese audience gathered at Nicofare.

The new anime series, simply titled “美少女戦士セーラームーン” (Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon) is currently slated for the Summer 2013 TV anime season.</p>

Originally serialised from 1992 to 1997 in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi manga magazine, Sailor Moon was a hit – in particular with the teenage girls demographic – and has since been adapted into various anime series, video games, and even live-action musicals and a TV drama.

That one is my FAV. But I like a lot of the other songs too. Especially the one Mars sings for that talent contest.

I like the Japanese version better purely for the arrangemnt. /band geek.

The SM discography was my JAM back in the day. Even now I bust out Moonlight Densetsu at karaoke and just let loose.

When my friends start to side eye me for all the JE songs at karaoke, I bust out sailor moon to redeem myself a bit.

Now I have regrets not buying the CD box set when I had the chance...

I'm usually doing karaoke with my much older co-workers, so, they find me singing Moonlight Densetsu really fucking cute. (Then I break out the SMAP and english version of J-pop songs to redeem myself.)

I love her so much! She single-handedly made it cool to like sailor moon. My host family used to make fun of me, now they think I'm some kind of hipster.

I just feel old, all my students were like, new borns when SM come out, so they just don't get it. They make fun of my contempt for PreCure. (Except for SmilePreCure because it's basically a magical girl comedy and it's fucking hilarious.)

I wanted to scream "You shut your whore mouth. YOU KNOW NOTHING!!"

But then I remember that they are like 4/5 years old.

I taught 6 month olds to high school.

It was actually one of my HS students who tweeted me the news.
She was like I never saw it. She did read the manga though, so we cool.

I calmed down and then Skyped my friend and started crying again and then got out my PGSM Luna and Artmis and sat them on my shoulders.

Why did I move back to the US from Japan??? WHY????

I'm starting to question my life choices every day. I'm excited for everyone!! Who knows, maybe I'll be back by next year too.
