On July 26, it was announced that the horror movie ‘Sadako 3D‘ will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 31st. Moreover it was revealed that there is going to be a limited ‘Sadako no Noroi Hako‘ (lit. ‘Sadako’s Curse Box’) edition, which comes with a unique mini photo book called ‘Sadako no Kyujitsu‘ (lit. ‘Sadako’s Holiday’).
There are only going to be a fitting number of 4,444 copies of the limited edition available for sale, and the blessed (cursed?) ones to obtain such a copy will get to enjoy a 32-page photo book, which features Sadako enjoying a day off from cursing people on the streets of Tokyo. She made full use of this opportunity and refreshed herself by going to a beauty parlor, a nail salon, and relaxing at a park near the Tokyo Sky Tree. The first teaser pictures should give you a nice glimpse into the atmosphere of the photo book. It’s your chance to see her as just an innocent girl rather than a scary horror icon.
Of course, this photo book isn’t the only bonus included in the limited edition. There will be several bonus footage clips, a making-of, and the movie version PV of rock band SID’s theme song “S“.
‘Sadako 3D’ transfers Sadako’s curse from videotapes to online cloud services and is based on the latest novel by original author Suzuki Koji. It was directed by Hanabusa Tsutomu (‘Handsome Suit’) and stars Ishihara Satomi, Seto Koji, Yamamoto Yusuke, Takahashi Tsutomu, Sometani Shota, and Hashimoto Ai. It opened in cinemas in May and recorded a cumulative revenue of around 1,500,000,000 Yen (19,170,000 USD).
