Both Ohno and Nakai did equally well in their roles, but I think Nakai should have won because of the difficulty of his role.
crystalluvshun 10th-Aug-2012 12:42 am (UTC)
I somewhat agree that Nakai should've at least received more votes for his portrayal of Ataru.
However, I thought Sakai Masato was also equally sensational with his outrageous role in 'Legal High' which was also a more difficult role to play.

Overall, I would've voted for either Nakai or Sakai Masato for the best actor category & I think they both are more deserving to win...but, this is the Nikkan sports drama awards after all...it's notorious for being a fans-only voting poll, so it's basically a popularity poll really...and not so much about the acting.
So I'm not surprised the awards was dominated by Kagi/Ohno virtually all throughout.

the television drama academy awards is a much more reliable award in comparison...

leicee 10th-Aug-2012 03:04 am (UTC)
why do you look down on fans-only poll? because they are biased? is there any award-winning body that is completely not biased? even the fucking Nobel Prize committee is subjective. if you think that Nakai acted better than Ohno, then that's your opinion and would've counted for 1 vote. as far as Nikkan Sports readers are concerned, more thought Ohno acted better than Nakai.

Kame gets a lot of votes in this drama award whenever he's nominated and as a fan, i'm proud of that.
crystalluvshun 11th-Aug-2012 12:19 am (UTC)
I don't take fans-only polls seriously because they only receive votes from the fans, which I have no doubt, is full of biasness.

As much as I love Kame, I personally would not vote for him in 'Best actor' categories when there are other actors nominated who I believe are more talented & more deserving actors.
But why does Kame win virtually all the time in Nikkan? Because he has the amount of fans who will vote for him regardless.

This is why fan-only polls have such a notorious reputation, because they're full of biasness from fans' input.

With the television drama academy awards, at least they also accept votes from a professional judging panel and various media personalities, so there's less room for bias results.

Although all awards are based on subjective opinions, but when you have a poll that's only voted by fans, the chances of bias voting is extremely high, because fans would just simply vote for their idol and whoever they love most from the nominations, regardless of the talent.
Heck, even for the Nikkan awards, often there are people who would just vote for their idol or celeb they like most on the nomination list even if they haven't watched the drama itself, if they see their idol's name, they'll just vote for him/her, or the drama that stars their idols.
This kind of idol bias voting is so very common with fans-only polls, and any 'awards' that's purely based on fan votes, such as the Nikkan awards.

This is why I don't take the Nikkan awards and other fan-polls seriously.

if it's a only popularity poll, for example, where is Aiba?

I don't think they are so blind... Kagi's role was difficult as well.

crystalluvshun 10th-Aug-2012 11:56 pm (UTC)
easy, because he wasn't nominated...neither was his drama...this is only for the Spring 2012 dramas.

You can't vote for something if it's not on the list of nominations.

But if Aiba & his drama were nominated on the list, then I'm sure it would've got alot of votes too.

btw I never implied that Ohno's role was "easy"...just that both Nakai & Sakai Masato's roles were more difficult to portray & they both played their roles brilliantly.

Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri IS a spring 2012 drama.

Sakai has great experience, Nakai imo didn't do that great his chara was acted in a kinda simple way, just cause his role is difficult doesn't mean he has to get an award or something.

tbh Ohno got even the television award.
crystalluvshun 20th-Aug-2012 09:12 am (UTC)
either way it wasn't nominated so you can't vote for it.

There's really nothing "simple" about Nakai's character, playing a character with Savant syndrome is very difficult to portray convincingly and Nakai portrayed that role very convincingly. When I watch the drama, I don't see an actor playing Ataru, I see Ataru himself...I don't think there's a lot of actors out there who would've portrayed the character as well as Nakai did.
And sure just because you portray a difficult character doesn't mean that you need to win an award, but I would rather see the award go to an actor who did a better job.
Not that I'm implying that Ohno didn't do a good job, he was good too, I just think that both Sakai and Nakai did a better job because they both portrayed more difficult roles very well.

btw I heard Ohno won the television academy award because he had a overwhelming number of votes from the fans, which eventually outweighed all other votes to give him the most votes overall.

I don't think you must be nominated for nikkan, plus either Fujiki Naohito and Okhura were on list for best supporting actor. Strange if Aiba and the drama weren't.

Well this is your opinion. For me Nakai wasn't convincing, it was Nakai triyng to portray an autistic person, neither i think his role was more difficult than Ohno's since Enomoto was a sort of socially disturbed with great experience only in his field. Just call him with another syndrome's name lol.
Don't worry if it was an Oscar's performance it would have been recognized in some way. About Academy awards, Nakai wasn't the favorite in any category, Ohno overtook him in every category as well.
And well audience success worth, you know.
I don't know where you read about the overhelming vote of fans lol... but once again if was just this Aiba would have been 2 or 3.
crystalluvshun 20th-Aug-2012 08:35 pm (UTC)
either way, all I know is that Aiba nor the drama itself was nominated, strange as it may be, all the nominations for each of the categories are all listed here, all the 5 nominations for each category.

We may differ in opinions with regards to Nakai's acting, but did you forget Sakai's acting? For me, Sakai's performance in 'Legal High' eclipsed both Ohno & Nakai's.

Don't get me wrong, I like all 3 of them, but as much as I like both Nakai and Ohno, I have to be objective, and with my objective views, Sakai exceeded them both and imo he was more deserving to win.

lol when I said I heard that Ohno had an overwhelming amount of votes from the fans at the television academy awards which ultimately gave him the most amount of votes overall, I honestly don't understand why you had to bring up Nakai specifically into it...was it because we have such differing opinions about his acting that you could only bring up Nakai for the comparison? Please, Nakai was not the only other actor nominated for best actor.

I think the reason why Kagi and its casts won in most of the categories for both awards is because of its popularity, Kagi was afterall, the highest-rated drama during its run, so you can sure that the reason why it dominated both awards is largely because of the drama's popularity.
If Kagi wasn't so popular, I wonder if it still would've won so many awards, and whether Ohno would've still won best actor...

ayuchanoh 21st-Aug-2012 10:16 am (UTC)
But logically thinking, it would be really strange if supporting actors were nominated while the drama and the main actor weren't... especially since Mikeneko got quite good ratings. It doesn't make sense...
But ok, if you like i'll say Kagi won Nikkan just for popularity lol, although ATARU had the exactly same success in terms of ratings, oh well.

As for Academy clearly speaking, Kagi has been a success, either for audience as for critique. It was convincing as a drama itself that's why it won in every category.
About Sakai as i said he's an actor with a lot of experience, Ohno has not his experience yet, despite this he did a great job in a role which was different but not less difficult than Sakai's one imo. Another reason could be that Ohno came from a popular role like Kaibutsu-kun and the gap between this role and Enomoto was surprising (at least is what many japanese viewers said).
Ergo, i think Ohno deserved to win with all the respect for Sakai who was closely second anyway.
crystalluvshun 2nd-Sep-2012 11:51 pm (UTC)
if Aiba himself & his drama was nominated, then I have no doubt that both he & the drama would've gotten many votes from the fans for the Nikkan awards...but yes, strangely as it is, they were not nominated.

As for the academy awards, yes Sakai is more experienced than Ohno, but that is beside the point, Sakai actually was the hot favorite among the panel of judges & the TV reporters and received the most votes from them. But like I mentioned before, Ohno received by far the most votes from the readers/fans, so he won 'Best actor'...if he had not received so much votes from the fans, then Sakai would've won. And Sakai's 'Legal High' also received the most votes for 'best drama' from both the jury panel & TV reporters and had a good chance of winning. But again it was Ohno's Kagi that received enough votes from the fans to win overall.

Sakai & 'Legal High' ranked higher than Ohno & Kagi to both the jury panel & the TV reporters. Although I agree that Ohno did a good job with his role, but I have no doubt that most of the readers who voted are the fans who voted for their favorites, they will vote for their idol or whatever their idol appears in regardless of whether who acted better and what not. Many Japanese Ohno fans voted in this award and you don't have to guess who they voted for.
ayuchanoh 3rd-Sep-2012 02:11 am (UTC)
Sure, think what you want.

Even if Ohno wins the Oscar will always be fans' merit right?

Oh well.

I enjoy Kagi's well-deserved wins <3 and i don't care if report or jury voted for the most experience actor as i think it's natural.

Bye.
crystalluvshun 10th-Sep-2012 06:48 am (UTC)
i don't care if report or jury voted for the most experience actor as i think it's natural.

you just answered to your own argument there, yes, Sakai is the more experienced actor and the actor who did a better job according to the un-bias voters.

I believe I have made my point very clear to you so this will be all from me. Bye.
