Singer Shion arrested for drug use


December 10th Kanagawa police arrested R&B singer Shion (26) for the possession and use of the narcotic ketamine. Shion gave a statement to the police saying, "I did use ketamine in my room."

According to the investigation, Shion had used ketamine and was in possession of it at her home on December 9th.

The police were searching her room in relation to a different case when a plastic bag containing 0.003 grams of ketamine was found under her pillow. The police also found a straw to which Shion admitted having used to snort the drug a week earlier. After taking a urine sample Shion tested positive.

In May of 2008 Shion made her album debut with Candy Girl, which landed at #9 on the Oricon album chart. Her most recent album Truth was released this past October, although she recently stopped activities due to a health issue. Shion is a popular singer among young women and had just been nominated for the Billboard Japan Music Awards 2009 in the Best Indies Artist category.

"recently stopped activities due to a health issue" ketamine is a hardcore painkiller. not that self-medicating is a good idea, but that could be it.

as for the recreational aspect, a couple of my friends said they had good times with special k but aren't really inclined to do it again XD

I might be off with this since I don't know much about her or the drug, but looking it up, it can be used to distract from pain or as an anesthetic. So...it says she has a health problem. For all the people saying "OMFGZ LIEK HOW COULD ANYONE TAKE DRUGZ?!!?!", her addiction may be related to distracting from said health problem, especially if it causes pain. I know for sure that a lot of people tend to...uh. self-remedy.

Not saying that's totally it, but...just a thought.

Well, it's not like you expect cops to come in and look under your pillow any old day if they weren't already given reason to search for it o_o; If they're searching, it doesn't matter where she put it, because they'll most likely find it.

That really sucks for her. I feel so bad for all the recent celebrity busts. And people shouldn't be so quick to judge a drug user, casual or an addict. Yeah drugs are bad for you, but so is a lot of the other shit out there that governments condone/profit off of.

I agree that people shouldn't be so quick to judge a drug user. I'm not making excuses for them. But they may be
using to overcome fatigue, to work harder, to perform better, or even to dull some kind of physical or mental pain.

Noriko Sakai was a sweetheart with a pure image. But she said it herself, she was addicted to the drug to help her handle her busy schedule and work. She needed the drugs to get her going and keep going.

And besides, for the most part the drugs they are caught using when they use it for those reasons; ie, fatigue etc, are often prescription meds or something similar that they just shouldn't have lol.
It's not as if they caught her with crack, or heroine, or ice or something like that.
