Note 1:

The NINKI ratings are the results of a POLL conducted by Oricon indicating degree of interest/degree of purchase intention in an upcoming release. Although the ratings are never a true reflection of sales, it does give a strong prediction about where the single/album will place in terms of popularity amongst the Japanese public. However, they are NOT an indication of how it will perform in terms of chart positioning and total sales for the week.

Note 2:

According to Oricon's note under the NINKI page, Oricon researches about 870,000 of its members by random sampling of 400 members in their 10s until 40s. 50 men and 50 women are chosen randomly to participate in each age group. (However, some popular artists have had NINKI exceeding 500, so we can only assume that Oricon has extended the polling to around 600/700 people now.)

Some of the new releases next week (according to CDJapan listing):

Singles - FLOWER, Kiyokiba Shunsuke, GACKT, LM.C, Kuribayashi Minami, Nothing's Carved In Stone, WORLD ORDER, Runa Haruna, Hashimoto Erica, Yamazaki Masayoshi, YU-A

Albums - Rake, Sakimoto Hiromi, LGMonkees, Sakamoto Ryuichi, THE KIDDIE, Hyadain

Go go Mr.Children! Also rooting for UVER, HILCRHYME, Kobukuro and NAOTO. And I hope that FLOWER will do OK. It's sad to not see them in the NINKI, but I guess that's to be expected for a crappy release.

And yeah, despite the high NINKI, there's a big probability that SNSD will only sell like KARA or maybe only a little bit more, but we'll see.

WOW at Mr.Children! This sounds good :D

I'll be particularly rooting for Hilcrhyme and Flowers (hope Flowers will do well... but you are right, their new single isn't exactly exciting ><)

Also rooting for the Monsters - my forever adorable Shingo :D

(By the way, I had no idea that GACKT has a new single release. How come he isn't in the NINKI? Isn't he normally ranking quite high?)

Thanks so much for this post!! <3

over 500 points is usual for Mr.Children's albums...:)

and about GACKT, I suddenly didn't saw the single in the list anymore, so maybe it's postponed...
royu_kiyo 24th-Nov-2012 02:11 am (UTC)
It is. December 14 I believe is the new date.
yukkiz 23rd-Nov-2012 09:34 am (UTC)
Go go Misuchiru !!

Go Mr Children, The Monsters, Kobukuro, FLOWER, Kiyokiba Shunsuke, GACKT and World Order. Kind of surprised that Gackt is not in top 10 NINKI, but who knows what will happen next week?

I predict SNSD's album will probably fare around KARA's album sales too. But who knows?
oo_kuro_neko_oo 23rd-Nov-2012 10:59 am (UTC)
anyone know what does the number like 501.90, 201.60 stand for?
whited_79 23rd-Nov-2012 01:05 pm (UTC)
already explained in the Oricon notes, but to clarify, they're points...like when you send out a survey, there could be questions like, which of this upcoming releases you would to buy, then they'd give out answers with marks/points like 5-definitely will buy 4-most likely will buy 3-will think about it 2-maybe not 1-definitely not...you know, something along those lines like all surveys/polls are...
oo_kuro_neko_oo 23rd-Nov-2012 01:14 pm (UTC)
thanks, I understand now ^^
first I thought it was sales number or sth like that
kerplunk 23rd-Nov-2012 01:20 pm (UTC)
1st of all tbh im happy to see alicia keys so high xD

I have no idea what SJJD's company was thinking releasing this week, maybe they dont care that much about #1 maybe more about the overall sales, who knows?

I think SJJD will pull in 150k-ish 1st week? and maybe a little over 350k overall, they will probably release a repackaged to push it to 500k so that they can get 2x platinum.

They're agency really needed to step things up after paparazzi but they didn't, even tho i like flower power.

oop No #1 album for SNSD this time.

Mr.Children is gonna slay as usual.
ryusenkai 23rd-Nov-2012 06:52 pm (UTC)
Gogo Misuchiru indeed! I'd like to see stronger numbers than Sense, which with all of the promotion that they're doing, they should hopefully be able to get. Also, here's hoping that UVERworld can manage to snag the #2 spot-it would be REALLY nice to see them there.

Singles-wise: Go Kobukuro and World Order!

Here for UVERworld, Nightmare, and MUCC. I'll definitely buy MUCC's album when it hits iTunes and crossing my fingers hoping UVERworld's album is worth buying since I liked most of the pre-released tracks.

Hey just noticed the subject and I love it.
urubaby21 27th-Nov-2012 05:33 pm (UTC)
If boyfriend means the tweeny Kpop group, then ew.
Anyways, I'm glad to see Hilchryme there along with Uverworld.

And Ninki= estimations?
whited_79 28th-Nov-2012 07:54 am (UTC)
in Japanese Ninki means popularity, but in this case it's poll or survey, not even prediction or estimation...I mean, there no way that everybody will only sell below 500 copies, right? it's all in the notes...
urubaby21 28th-Nov-2012 07:13 pm (UTC)
OMG, I should have known what that meant considering I'm taking Japanese...this is a sad moment for me. Anyways thanks for clarifying this and I guess I'll go and actually read the article.
whited_79 28th-Nov-2012 07:21 pm (UTC)
lol Ok no problem! :)
