Where is Rich Man, Poor Woman? o-o That was my favorite drama all year!
Priceless was good though.
blazingeternity 29th-Dec-2012 06:11 pm (UTC)
Also, where's Kagi No Kakatta Heya? That was my other fave together with Rich Man, Poor Woman :/
vivibm 29th-Dec-2012 07:00 pm (UTC)
Kagi no kakatta Heya did 16% =D
Pretty good but not enough for top 10 this year
bluebird1988 29th-Dec-2012 07:08 pm (UTC)
18.3% not 16%
vivibm 29th-Dec-2012 07:16 pm (UTC)
after your comment I checked a second time at different sources, and Kagi did 16% ^^

18.3% would be still not enough anyway
buyme_arashi 30th-Dec-2012 01:41 am (UTC)
The ranking is based on best single episode ratings. Kagi's best was 18.3%. Not enough but just correcting the info. 16% is the average which btw beats ATARU's average ratings despite it getting a place in best top 10 best single episode ranking.

oh ok ^^ thank you ^^
blazingeternity 29th-Dec-2012 07:18 pm (UTC)
Oh alright, thanks!
I would have thought both (Kagi No Kakatta Heya & Rich Man Poor Woman) would have attracted more viewers due to the popular cast and great production. Nevermind ^^
vivibm 29th-Dec-2012 06:58 pm (UTC)
RmPw did "only" 12.4%
the top is based on ratings, so...
kame_94 29th-Dec-2012 08:17 pm (UTC)
Really? It only got 12.4%?? o.o I really thought it did better than that.. Such a good drama. Thank you!
queencrystallia 30th-Dec-2012 12:27 am (UTC)
it was a cliche drama and japan has had lots of cliche dramas in the past ~ i was srprised that it did not got higher given that oguri shun as leading but, i suppose it was expected? since japan isn't into romantic stuff anymore.
buyme_arashi 30th-Dec-2012 01:45 am (UTC)
I tried watching it but drop halfway. Shun and Satomi was great but I agree it was too cliche. Too bad because I love rom coms and actually used to not mind cliches in my romance.
kame_94 30th-Dec-2012 07:36 am (UTC)
I thought it was cliche near the beginning, but after about episode 4 it seemed much more well-developed. I guess it was expected to be cliche though, with a title like "Rich Man, Poor Woman". I just really enjoyed it and many others seemed to as well.
queencrystallia 30th-Dec-2012 09:25 am (UTC)
i enjoyed it as well but i won't lie. it was predictable to me. i knew that his friend would betray him and be forgiven , and i knew that the guy's sister would be of help in in the end... and come on after ep 4 ? the last ep with the airport scene? that was pretty expected, lots of romance dramas have that in the end where the couple gets seperated and they have the long distance relationship thing >.> then of course somewhere in the future someone comes back >.>
kame_94 30th-Dec-2012 10:05 am (UTC)
With all the suspicious shots of the friend, I think they made it obvious he would be the one to betray him. When I say more developed, I mean of the story between Shun & Satomi, his disease, his mother, and the co-workers that become more defined. Of course throughout the rest of the drama it had cliche scenes, the airport scene being one of those. I'm not saying that the rest was completely unexpected, but it had some turns. Like I didn't think the friend's sister would be as helpful as she was (maybe because I remember the actress's character from Buzzer Beat); I figured she'd turn more bitter. And I didn't think the guy who got fired would make a return later to help out, etc. I think that cliche ending is just to give a heart-warming feel. Even though it's done over and over, it works.. so maybe that's why they always use it..
I'm sorry if I ranted. It's late and I'm tired but don't wanna sleep yet xD
Edit: Corrected title of Yamapi's drama lol.

Akumu-chan >>>>>>>>

Doctor X was good too tho
exdream1999 30th-Dec-2012 06:57 am (UTC)
Akumu-chan was so good.

I'm also impressed that I had only figured out one of the big "plot twists" before their reveal.
ohcrepe 29th-Dec-2012 06:11 pm (UTC)
I've been curious about PRICELESS but I didn't wanna to start without any recommendation. Judging from the first two comments, I guess it's good...?
blazingeternity 29th-Dec-2012 06:17 pm (UTC)
I think it's good but I wouldn't expect too much.
For me personally, the development was a little "slow", if you know what I mean... There were moments when I couldn't motivate myself to watch the next episode because I felt I knew the story wouldn't exactly move. The actors are great, though and it's cute and I know many people love it. Give it a try!
aquariia 29th-Dec-2012 07:04 pm (UTC)
I've got bored in the middle, forced myself to watch till episode 8 and then droped it. The cast and characters are good but the story is slow. I saw many good comments about this drama though, so you probably should check yourself if it match your taste.
apneatic_melody 29th-Dec-2012 07:10 pm (UTC)
PRICELESS is ridiculously cute and enjoyable, just don't attempt to apply logic to it. Shut up your inner fussy critic, and you'll probably have a great time watching it. The cast has great chemistry, and there's not a single character you can hate, imo.
exdream1999 30th-Dec-2012 06:52 am (UTC)

He's probably my most hated character from any show I watched this year.
silver_kite 30th-Dec-2012 09:25 am (UTC)
apneatic_melody 30th-Dec-2012 11:35 am (UTC)
Lol, Zaizen? But even he had a bit of heart at the end. I disliked both him and Souichiro but I couldn't hate them anymore in the finale.

Zaizen was a greasy mofo tho, that's a fact.
ohcrepe 31st-Dec-2012 05:49 am (UTC)
Thanks for the replies! I might just have to check it out, watch with an open mind and without expectations ;D (though that slow bit killed my enthusiasm a bit).
inachan89 29th-Dec-2012 06:33 pm (UTC)
Oh i thought Ume-chan sensei had the highest ratings.Happy that Nino's SP had high ratings^^
apneatic_melody 29th-Dec-2012 07:02 pm (UTC)
These are single episode ratings tho, it should be noted.

Idg all the fuss over Doctor X tbh, maybe because medical dramas are not my thing. But as a Yonekura Ryoko stan I was delighted to see it become a hit, get it, bb gurl. \o/
buyme_arashi 30th-Dec-2012 02:11 am (UTC)
Not a fan of medical drama but Doctor X was great. Beats Priceless imo.
apneatic_melody 30th-Dec-2012 11:47 am (UTC)
Never said Priceless was better or Doctor X is bad. It deserved to do well, but that well? Okay, good for them, get that money and acclaim, but personally, I fail to see why.
I'm pretty sure that's just me tho, I really don't get medical dramas; I don't think I've ever watched a single one that excited me.
buyme_arashi 30th-Dec-2012 12:02 pm (UTC)
Never said Priceless was bad either just personally not as satisfying as watching Doctor X. For someone who doesn't particularly care about medical dramas, Doctor X was quite exciting. It's snappy. Despite not having my usual male eye-candies, I'm surprised it managed to keep me watching.
apneatic_melody 30th-Dec-2012 12:15 pm (UTC)
We apparently got opposite impressions out of this drama. It's a-ok, different strokes for different folks. :3b
ocha_suki 30th-Dec-2012 02:20 am (UTC)
i love to watch Jun to Ai, wish it has sub tho ;)
exdream1999 30th-Dec-2012 06:55 am (UTC)
So, I've only seen three of these.

Also, I'm so mad I didn't know they were doing one last Odoru TV special.

nene718 30th-Dec-2012 10:11 am (UTC)
it's been like 2 years since i've watched a jdrama. i should check out this doctor x that people are raving about.

what other great dramas have i missed since the start of my hiatus?
apneatic_melody 30th-Dec-2012 11:57 am (UTC)
From this year's bunch: Shokuzai, Legal High, ATARU and/or Kagi no kakatta Heya, Yuusha Yoshihiko to Akuryo no Kagi, the two Double Face SPs.

2011 stuff: Utsukushii Rinjin, Suzuki Sensei, IS, Soredemo Ikite Yuku, Yuusha Yoshihiko to Maou no Shiro, Kaseifu no Mita

Those are the last two year's must-watch dramas, imho.

Soredemo Ikite Yuku is probably one of the best dramas written in recent years. It's emotionally intense, but so so good.
nene718 31st-Dec-2012 09:15 pm (UTC)
ooh looks good. i'll check it out. thanks!
hananaki 30th-Dec-2012 03:23 pm (UTC)
The only one I watched from this list is Priceless (to be exact I am in the middle of it).
Really surprised about Doctor X having so high ratings to be honest!
nakabibighani 30th-Dec-2012 05:34 pm (UTC)
whoa, i thought kagi no kakatta no would make it...
