I’m Minegishi Minami from Umeda team B of AKB48.
I’m very sorry to have caused enormous worry to members, fans, staffs, my families and a lot of other people with the article in the weekly magaizne that is published today.
(Deep Bow)
As the 1st generation member of AKB48, the group that has formed in 2005, it’s my responsibility to always behave as a good role model to juniors. I deeply regret what I did this time. It was a thoughtless deed and I was completely lacking self-awareness as a senior member.
My brain blanked out and I’m still unable to figure out what to do, what I can do. But after I saw the magazine a little ago, I couldn’t help but doing something. And I decided to shave my head without consulting any member or staff at my agency.
Although I don’t think I would be forgiven by doing this, the first thing that I went through my head was that “I don’t want to leave AKB48.”
This is a place where my dear members, who I spent my blossom of youth together, are. And it’s unimaginable to even think about leaving the group where I’m with so many wonderful and sweet fans.
I understand it’s wishful thinking, but if it’s possible, I would like to still be AKB48′s Minegishi Minami.
This is all my fault.
I’m truly sorry.
I will leave my hereafter to the hands of Akimoto-sensei and management.
Though I haven’t been able to tidy my mind up, but I just wanted to tell my current feeling to you.
Thank you so much for listening to me.

Seriously, it hurt so much to see Miichan in this condition. I think this is the first time she cut her hair. Well, congrats to Shunkan Bunshun for destroying her and Masuda Yuka's career in just a few months. And to think that Miichan is 1st generation member! T-T But at least she didn't graduate.... Miichan's fans, show your love to her in the next election!

Edit: Okay, I think this is too sweet to be ignored. 1st generation member (minus Kojima Haruna). Even Acchan's there! Apparently, Takamina also cut her hair (It is far more shorter than when she get haircut because her hair burned). Not sure about Acchan though, because I think she wear extension before, so I don't know her original hair length From Itano Tomomi's twitter

"caused many troubles to the fans from this issue" Says who? Ugh
a_cheshire_grin 31st-Jan-2013 11:28 am (UTC)
What in the world happened?
She could hardly talk in this video. I feel so sorry for her.
helsings 31st-Jan-2013 11:27 am (UTC)
Why did she shave her head though? :(
a_cheshire_grin 31st-Jan-2013 11:31 am (UTC)
It's seen as degrading and shows that you're deeply sorry for what you have done.
sekainostar 31st-Jan-2013 11:28 am (UTC)
They're crazy. Seriously WTF.
zsutzy 31st-Jan-2013 11:32 am (UTC)
this is just horrible, because she dated someone?
sheda_kun 31st-Jan-2013 11:33 am (UTC)
what happened to the hair??? sorry to say but she looks like someone diagnosed with a cancer
a_cheshire_grin 31st-Jan-2013 11:36 am (UTC)
Your comment is pretty rude.

Cutting/shaving your hair is seen as degrading in Asia and shows that you're deeply sorry for what you have done.
liime_arix 31st-Jan-2013 11:34 am (UTC)
Apparently she cut it of her own accord and management didn't know. But I'm calling BS, like I feel they did pressure to go the extra mile. And cutting your hair is probably a big deal in Japan where being feminine thing is important in her life and her job. I only 2 celebs that are bald over there (a harajuku fashionista and a ora-ora kei model for soul sister). And it can have some negative impact on her mentally, getting work. But apparently now some of the wota want to beat alan up though, just as wtf (should blame management and yourself tbh).

People can 'omg great honor!!2111!' one minute and then turn around and mock her and cross her off her their faves list just because she doesn't have hair. It's frustrating and they really need to do away with the love ban rule. I was really meh with it, especially with the fact girls have had bfs and probably still do and none of the fans know or they just get a slap on the wrist. But Miichan gets humiliated (was this video necessary, like for reals?) I know AKS isn't the first or last with this rule, but I'm really not about this crap anymore.

I hope when she goes home, Alan is waiting to give her some lovin' or smth.
rim1789 31st-Jan-2013 11:38 am (UTC)
To everything you said.

She is not as popular as other girls who got caught, but I really didn't think they would go to that lenght.

meoinkie2 31st-Jan-2013 11:35 am (UTC)
wtf..im not even a fan but i feel so sorry for her
that's so freaking harsh

Me too. I can't STAND AKB and any of their sister groups, but I just want to give the poor girl a hug ;~;

Knock her down to basically trainee status all for being a normal girl and dating? This type of treatment may be something normal in Japan for female idols, but it's incredibly flippin' harsh, man.

Even scarier, the straight hardcore fans who call for this kind of stupid crud whenever their little wet dreams of banging their favourite idol is shattered by the idol being a happy, normal human being and falling in love and/or having an healthy and active dating/sex life.

She shouldn't have felt the need to shave her head but just...ugh. poor child. :c
rim1789 31st-Jan-2013 11:36 am (UTC)
Mii-chan ;A; Seriously WTF?

She is my favorite so I may not be objective at all, but I m angry at this
rosemaine 31st-Jan-2013 11:41 am (UTC)
Wow just wow, this is just plain disgusting. Why would they treat her like this just for dating @@
helsings 31st-Jan-2013 11:49 am (UTC)
The idol world can be cruel and harsh. Innocent dating can be compared to a death wish, career wise. Sadly female idols pretty much have to maintain this 'virginal' image.
patentpending 31st-Jan-2013 11:47 am (UTC)
Well, this is all kinds of disgusting. I don't know why they're even still trying to keep these girls from dating, especially since it seems every time they even look in a guys direction these days, it's made a bigger deal than it should be. Any old tabloid could make up some "evidence" and get these girls in trouble, and since the company is only concerned with public perception, it won't even really matter in the end if they were doing anything "wrong," they'll still be punished or scolded for "causing trouble". It's more trouble than it's worth at this point.
ethereal_limbo 31st-Jan-2013 11:51 am (UTC)
just so people know miichan shaved her head on her own. this has nothing to do with management. there were loads of scandal girls before her. they didn't get their heads shaved. this was a personal decision on her side to express how remorseful she felt.

what management did was demote her to kenkyuusei.

also translation of the video. be sure to credit source if taken.
misty__eyed 31st-Jan-2013 01:58 pm (UTC)
+1 but I'm sure no one will care and think it was them anyway. Which if it was them it wouldn't make a lot of sense.

okadarei 31st-Jan-2013 11:54 am (UTC)
This is seriously too much. Idol rules are idol rules, but this time, they just went overboard with pressuring her. Is not the first idol who's caught with a bf, why does she have to be so crumbled?
sapphirehyeran 1st-Feb-2013 02:13 pm (UTC)
well atually she chose to do that so she could keep her job, thye others were forced to graduate.
kinari_pamyu 31st-Jan-2013 11:57 am (UTC)
I'm torn between two opinions when it comes to things like this;

A) She knew what she was getting in to and the potential consequences for breaking the mandates of her contract.

B) Without knowing the exact behind the scenes circumstances (aka. Was she forced to shave her head, what type of contract is she bound by, how does her treatment compare to that of the other members?) then it's impossible to judge whether it was her 'fault' or not.

Regardless the video/head-shaving is pretty melodramatic.

yes, it's part of the idol "rules" that you are not allowed to date - but it's so incredibly disturbing how seriously the hardcore fans take offence to a girl breaking those rules. there needs to be a serious discussion about how unhealthy the implementation of these rules, and the creation of completely unrealistic image of an ideal girl is. like, it's not healthy for the girls to have to struggle to maintain their image 24/7 (even if it is their idol "job" - the job description then needs to change) nor for the fans who are so intensely emotionally attached that they would feel betrayed by the girls dating.

end rant. but seriously, this is so disturbing. poor girl.
turtle_yurippe 31st-Jan-2013 12:20 pm (UTC)
THIS. Yes, those girls know what they're signing up for, but seriously.
I read a Japanese dating advice site for fun, and they have lists like, "what some guys think about women". Apparently, some guys thought that pretty girls and idols don't have normal body functions, i.e. they don't use the loo, or if they do, they probably c*rap rainblow glitter. WTF?
thewarpedmelody Wtshit is this!?31st-Jan-2013 12:09 pm (UTC)

Being demoted, thats one thing. But that video was a wreck, her hair doesn't even look evenly shaved and she looked really devastated. I don't even think that she was at the right mind/condition to be talking to do a video message.

She claimed she shaved her hair herself, but I seriously doubt so. Moreover no3b activities just resumed and this happened...

Just curious, whats going to happen to the other party? Don't think HIRO gives a shit about the EXILE TRIBE members' relationship?

crimsonbreeze Re: Wtshit is this!?31st-Jan-2013 03:56 pm (UTC)
I don't think it was a management order for her to shave her hair. Yuko, Acchan getting caught drinking and smoking back in her 48 days, Sasshi and the rest of 48ers that have been caught in scandals and have been demoted, nobody of them have had their hair shaved, so... yeah, this is pretty much her.

In any case, indeed, nobody in EXILE gives a damn about each other's peens lol She should just have kept her hair anyways.
danceinthedark 31st-Jan-2013 12:09 pm (UTC)
Well the good news is she is one of the rare people who can pull off such short hair. She looks alienesque, in a good way.
crimsonbreeze 31st-Jan-2013 03:56 pm (UTC)
She kinds reminds me of one of the members of Orange Range.
momoiro71 31st-Jan-2013 12:09 pm (UTC)
Japanese intertainment industry is so scary like seriously, I can't stand to see Miichan in that video.

Poor girl.
ilikedjibouti 31st-Jan-2013 12:10 pm (UTC)
I can guess what movie she has watched recently.
aku_rin 31st-Jan-2013 12:12 pm (UTC)
Seriously, WTF?
I have no idea of who she is but her message is heartbreaking.
This is pure bullying. Vile. Degrading.
I had no interest in this kind of groups before, and after seeing this, I will just get bad feelings every time I see anything regarding them.
kashiwashipashi 31st-Jan-2013 12:13 pm (UTC)
I just hope that there was REALLY something between Alan and her besides being friends, otherwise all this is too much just because wotas imagine the worst. Also if there was something between them, I hope Alan was serious about it and is now consoling her in private over text or calls...(unless their agencies are banning any interaction). I don't know much about the guy but I hope he's not the playboy kind who drops her like a hot potato the moment he sees that she's now bald.
taciturndream 31st-Jan-2013 04:14 pm (UTC)
I was thinking about this as well...but I wonder if she is going to cut ties, since she's the one in trouble and the one that feels as a senior she should have behaved and stuff. If she does that then it's really sad.
askbask 31st-Jan-2013 12:14 pm (UTC)
Fucking disgusting. Whether she shaved her head on her own accord or not, she's paraded around here, it's part of the pillory that forms this video and announcement - a public humiliation of a woman who did nothing wrong, contract or no contract, a systematic misogynist approval of disturbed possessive attitudes where girls are disgraced in the worst fashion for implied slutty behavior.

The Shunkan Bunshun ruined her career? I don't see this ruining anyone's career outside of these mental institutions with their codec of behavior pandoring to delusional fans. Sickening.
momoiro71 31st-Jan-2013 12:21 pm (UTC)
THIS.

It's really disgusting, seriously.
kurakura_chan 31st-Jan-2013 12:21 pm (UTC)
seriously?! seriouslyyyyyyy...
poor mi-chan ;________;
liime_arix 31st-Jan-2013 12:28 pm (UTC)
Alan's agency is saying they're just close friends: http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/entertainment/2021212/full/

Someone should have taken a leaf from LDH's book. AKS could have really said, she was getting dance lessons or something.
thewarpedmelody 31st-Jan-2013 12:40 pm (UTC)
LOL "Dance Lessons"

Does HIRO actually cares about this kind of relationship issues?
lady_mercury 31st-Jan-2013 12:30 pm (UTC)
This is fucking disgusting.
crsg 31st-Jan-2013 01:32 pm (UTC)
THIS.

I'm not even an AKB fan but personally, I think it's morally wrong to publicly shame someone like this. It's management who should be ashamed.
ryusa5 31st-Jan-2013 12:30 pm (UTC)
I feel so sorry for her,she looks devastated in the video

and once again the girl is the only one 'punished' in this sort of cases
in fact it probably serves as free promotion in Alan's case cuz the scandal was released in the same day his group released their 2'nd single
