smap-joy infinite-koi_ni_ochiru_toki arashi_live_tour_popcorn

Popular group, SMAP have reached the top spot in the singles chart with their 50th single, "Joy!!". This is their 17th consecutive no.1 single since "freebird" (May 2002), and their 28th no.1 single overall. They have also updated their record of the only male artists (group or soloist) to have achieved 50 top 10 singles since their debut with "Can't Stop!! -Loving-" (September 1991). At 2nd place for the most top 10 singles since debut for male artists are V6 and Arashi, tied with 41 singles. For male artists not including since debut, tied at 2nd place are B'z and THE ALFEE with 47 top 10 singles. Including female artists, SMAP are only the 2nd group to have broken 50 top 10 singles after Morning Musume with 53. The last time SMAP surpassed 300k in the first week in the chart was with "Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana" (March 2003, 630k in the first week), 10 months and 3 years ago. The title track is currently used as the theme song for FujiTV's drama, "Kasukana Kanojo", starring member, Katori Shingo.

In the albums chart, 7-member Korean male group, INFINITE have achieved their 1st no.1 with their 1st full Japanese album, "Koi ni Ochiru Toki". They are the 4th Korean male artist to have reached the top spot in the albums chart with their 1st album after FTISLAND with "FIVE TREASURE ISLAND" (May 2011), Jang Geun Suk with "Just Crazy" (June 2012), and CNBLUE with "CODE NAME BLUE" (September 2012). INFINITE's highest-placing in any Oricon chart previously was with the single "Be Mine" (April 2012) at no.2.

Posting the top 30 albums/singles and the top 10 music-DVDs. The second column in the top 10 refers to sales in 2013. New release in bold.

OMG, WHAT IS THAT .GIF????

But, yeah, SAME!

It's from the gloriousness that is the Smac PV (am I the only one who loves Smac btw? I can't be the only one, but I only see hate for it ;; ).

Joy!!'s such a good single, I didn't expect it to be that good. The previews barely did it justice.
exdream1999 15th-Jun-2013 11:04 pm (UTC)
Oh, I LOVE SMAC, I've just only seen the PV, like once. I have the live performance from MSte only. (And the single, which I hunted down and bought.)

I've loved Joy!! since the first time I heard it on Kasukana, though it's much better in full.
apneatic_melody 15th-Jun-2013 11:44 pm (UTC)
THANK YOU, FINALLY someone who appreciates how sick a jam Smac is ;w;w;
I can't judge, I often forget half the old PVs that aren't lion heart or dynamite even exist, idek why. (You know what's up :3b)

You have clearly more foresight than I do, 'cause I liked it when we got a full radio rip, but I was expecting it to be in the "bright, okay song" category not in the "hot damn, this is my jam" category as it turned out to be.
And don't even get me started on the b-sides. Imo, we couldn't have asked for a more solid 50th single.♥
exdream1999 15th-Jun-2013 11:51 pm (UTC)
Well, at least Smac ranked up in the 25 singles by fans on SmaSte, so the Japanese fans also appreciate it's awesomeness. I used to have some of the older PVs, but having computers crap out on me means that I've lost them. (Lion Heart and Dynamites PVs are good, but so's Aoi Inazuma...XD)

I love songs like Joy!!, but yes, it's really way too good. OMG, the b-sides, even the CM song, why do I love that silly song??
apneatic_melody 16th-Jun-2013 12:23 am (UTC)
It did?! I don't remember that *googles* I don't see it. :'(
(Since you mentioned the SmaSte ranking tho) imo the biggest surprises there were Sakasama and Battery doing so well -being very recent singles-, the top3 being all ballads -albeit rightfully so- and Dangan Fighter ranking! I had no idea Dangan Fighter is popular, I thought it was overlooked by the general public (because of its sales, perhaps); it was a lovely surprise.
And in the coupling top3, #1 and #2 were already fixed, but I'm still not over the utter shock of Aogeba Toutoshi being #3. It's like, the last b-side in the world I would expect being popular, wth?
Most of them were reuploaded recently on smapxmedia, if you still want them back... (Aoi Inazuma is perfect in every way tbh, the PV couldn't be an exception. Shingo's bangs alone are enough to make that PV a masterpiece. But I have to confess I still love dynamite and lion heart more because of reasons that would make this comment an even huger wall of text than it already is ^^;;)

IKR, it was so basic in the CM, and then the full version happened. And it was good. Science is still trying to figure out how.

I too love SMAC just that I really don't like the PV. The performance on SxS was much better with the look, the choreography that uses dance moves from old singles included in the song.
apneatic_melody 16th-Jun-2013 12:28 am (UTC)
No arguing there, the performance did a much better job at bringing the "anniversary" theme of the song. The PV is random as all hell. But since I tend to love random as all hell PVs and songs, I was pretty much done by default.

That said, I must admit I too, watch Smac performances more often than the PV so...
