Morning Musume 12th Gen Auditions Finished, No Winners Announced

Tsunku declares today that there are no qualified candidates for the 12th gen audition “Mirai Shoujo”. Based on the theme and name “Mirai Shoujo” (girl of the future) Tsunku was looking for a super star to add to the group. However, the performance level of Morning Musume is so high right now that he does not feel it would be appropriate to add anyone into the group at this time. Tsunku also will not be adding anyone from H!P kenshuusei at this time. He does not feel comfortable inserting a new girl into this current lineup. However, that does not mean that the talent and skill level of this group of girls were low. To the contrary, Tsunku feels that he saw many girls who were able to shine throughout the audition. He believes they have plenty of talent, but it just quite isn’t enough to join the group.

He adds that had these girls auditioned at the same time as the 9th gen audition, he would have let them in the group. He feels there are a lot of girls with potential. He does not mean any disrespect toward 9th gen with this statement. He states that since 9th gen joined, they have improved to the point where the current Morning Musume is at the highest level of skill in all of MM history.

Tsunku believes that the potential candidates from this past audition are like raw diamond ores. He is very excited to see what will come of proper refinement. As such, he has invited all of the girls he saw potential in to join H!P kenshuusei to gain more experience. He hopes to unveil them when the proper timing comes along.

In regards to 12th gen audition, he plans to hold another audition again. Essentially re-do 12th gen audition, it will not be considered 13th gen. He also states that he has a lot of things on his mind for the future of H!P – including a new group which could potentially be filled with the girls from this audition. Tsunku has a very positive outlook on everything and hopes you guys will look forward to whats coming next.

I think this is the best choice at the moment. Right now MM is still rebuilding their image.

The public should know the current members first before Tsunku adds new girls to the group.

As of now, the idol war is still intense; by just being cute or funny will not bring sparks at the current momosu cause the 2 groups (48 family and Momoiro) has monstrous members in terms of appearance and personality (even Salty Paru is recognizable by public because of her unique personality). The only thing they can do now is to be unique by hiring polished girls already since as of now they can boast that "were the best girl performer" (but they are still idols it won't matter TBH and 48 family will start this kind of Hiring this coming draft system).

"where the current Morning Musume is at the highest level of skill in all of MM history."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA he wish.
spiritofvenus 25th-Aug-2013 03:05 am (UTC)
I know this is the dumbest thing.
mamoswine1 25th-Aug-2013 03:42 am (UTC)
my big brother left the Momosu fandom when they enter the Platinum era TBH I can say the current line up of all H!P now sucks it means not only with the girls but with gimmicks, appeal, shows, music and promotions
nozo_rin 25th-Aug-2013 06:57 am (UTC)
Got me super butthurt
sadistic_dance 25th-Aug-2013 04:11 pm (UTC)
It's true though. In all aspects except singing basically.

"the performance level of Morning Musume is so high right now"
LOL that's bullshit and he knows it.
Their dancing is okay, but their vocals are bad compared to the golden or even the platinum days. I understand why he wouldn't want to add more members given how tight-knit MM seems nowadays, but they can't just keep making Oda and Sayashi singing everything.

Miziki, Ayumi, and Sato sing a good amount of the lines also.

Current MM has vocal potential. They just need to grow into it. Their lacking vocals are highlighted by a lack of seniors to takes up "line space". In the past there have been more seasoned members to balance the less seasoned.
calzonazos 25th-Aug-2013 04:26 am (UTC)
Exactly, we both agree that MM still needs a bit more time to develop. Tsunku thinks they are already fine in this point though. I think an additional member with a strong voice could've filled that lack of seniors you pointed out, and help balance things while they improve their vocal skills.

"the current Morning Musume is at the highest level of skill in all of MM history."

Wow, what a way to completely insult every past lineup by saying a bunch of 12-year-old girls who can barely sing properly are superior to them.

I'm so done with this idol wave, at this point I'd even prefer a J-rock dominated chart to this. And this is coming from someone who used to hope and pray for Momusu to have some success again, but that was when the average age of the group was, like... 20.

I used to love Momusu back in 2008~2010, but I think they were given so little attention even though they had so much talent!

I like their classic (1999~2000) songs, but Resonant Blue and Shouganai Yume Oibito are still two of my favorite singles!! Takahashi, Risa, Koharu, Reina, Aika, Eri, Sayumi... and the chinese girls, Linlin and Jujun made such a great team, but sales were very low and they never really got the chance to shine... They looked more mature and elegant, unlike the current members, who are still very young. It's not that the current members aren't good, I'm sure they have a lot of potential! It's just that Momusu doesn't appeal to me anymore as it used to... Maybe in a couple of years I'll be back in the Momusu fandom, who knows?xD

ok... This comment doesn't really has anything to do with the post, but I felt like expressing my feelings as an ex-Momusu fan! LOL

nozo_rin 25th-Aug-2013 06:56 am (UTC)
I agree. Platinum era is my FAVORITE era and I admit I'm bias towards that era cause that was the time when I first got into H!P and I just loved their image...
kemi_chan 25th-Aug-2013 07:24 am (UTC)
Me too!! I started liking Momusu sometime between Resonant Blue and Pepper Keibu and have followed all of their steps until Maji Desuka Ska! I'm sure some people at the time thought that the Platinum Era was just the shadow of the Golden Era, but I think they had a charm of their own!xD

It's been particularly hard for me to digest all of these sudden graduations, especially because the line up was so stable during the Platinum Era...
bear100 25th-Aug-2013 04:12 pm (UTC)
I LOVE Shouganai Yume Oibito. I put that song on a pedestal.
I kinda wanna jump back to that era now. Life was more smooth for me as well. lol.
baka_neko3 26th-Aug-2013 12:23 am (UTC)
the thing with the Classic era and the platinum era is, not only do i prefer their songs more than now, i also like their personality, you know.. like, there's something about each of their individual personality which pulls me.. i stopped following and buying anymore MM stuff since a while ago because i don't know, i think the new MM is sort of too generic... they have the same feeling as a normal idol group and not unique anymore...

yeah, ex-momusu fan here too... the new one bored me to death!
kemi_chan 26th-Aug-2013 04:15 am (UTC)
Yes, I personally miss their concert performances, it used to be so powerful and lively!! I mean, the members nowadays are given much more technically difficult choreographies, but somehow I feel they are so bland =/ The older girls knew how to "moriagaru" the public at a big venue better than the new ones, but I think that's just because they don't have much experience yet... I'd give them a year or two for them to consolidate what character and image they want to have as an idol!^^
ajisaitea 25th-Aug-2013 03:40 am (UTC)
And Tsunku trolls us again.

On one hand I am happy. With the current 'I Am Morning Musume' campaign happening to go along with the guide book that is soon to be released the timing to add new members is wrong. I agree with what others around the web have been saying and that is to let the girls become more stable and to let the public get to know more about them.

On the other hand; really out all of those girls none of them were at the level of Haruna? o.O
Tsunku the drugs you are taking must be nice in order to have those kinda delusions. lol

I've said it once I am say again:
Tsunku = TROLL
And I bet he enjoys it too.
nozo_rin 25th-Aug-2013 06:57 am (UTC)
Yeah.. I actually thought the same thing about Haruna
marcmurphy 25th-Aug-2013 03:48 am (UTC)
No really a big fan of this anymore.. but should be interestingPlease Visit!
sundaetea 25th-Aug-2013 05:35 am (UTC)
I'm pretty nonplussed about not getting a new member. I did want to see a couple of new faces, but at this time I don't think MM really needs another two new faces when the general public doesn't even know the current MM except for Sayumi.
baka_neko3 26th-Aug-2013 03:26 am (UTC)
exactly! i only know sayumi atm..
sadistic_dance 25th-Aug-2013 04:13 pm (UTC)
Good. Morning Musume is finally getting attention again and they don't need their focus to be on new girls. Their focus needs to be on getting Riho to sing well tbh.
itskimbitches 25th-Aug-2013 09:12 pm (UTC)
I was watching some old mm and they were not that good but the musical production was way better. The members were not that good at singing or dancing tbh
mamoswine1 27th-Aug-2013 06:34 am (UTC)
This!!

I don't know why but some H!P fans are so blind to brag that H!P are VERY TALENTED they can sing and dance but not to the point they are beyond the limit cause they are still idols after all or maybe they were just frustrated because of what is happening at the current H!P fandom
