Paparazzi hound Utada Hikaru as she arrives in Japan

I saw this today and it's just terrible. Let her mourn in peace. The video is especially heartbreaking.

Through Google Translate, I think that the second link mentions that they were surrounded by around 40 reporters :(

"let her mourn in peace" as you post a gallery of these sick photos? give me a break! you should not have posted this in the first place, it makes me sick to my stomach... at least put EVERY image behind a cut because i clicked on arama without expecting to see this disturbing picture (i was actively trying to avoid it) and i feel triggered... so much that i had to make a comment to speak my mind about this situation. the mod who made this post should be demodded because this level of voyeurism is crossed the line. leave this to the crap shoot like TMZ!
fancifury 29th-Aug-2013 11:14 pm (UTC)
are you ok
apple_fries 29th-Aug-2013 11:18 pm (UTC)
i am most certainly NOT okay after seeing these photos! aramatheydidn't used to be a community of fun and lightheartedness but seeing utada hikaru hounded by paparazzos near tears in a hearse carrying her mother's corpse is NOT something i ever wanted to see here and the OP pretending to be sympathetic and saying it's 'terrible and heartbreaking'' deciding to share it for God knows what reason? it's all very transparent and i know arama is becoming very inactive but i did not think they were this desperate for hits.
xbrokenbabydoll 29th-Aug-2013 11:18 pm (UTC)
I agree with you (partially). Don't say "Don't take pictures like that and let her mourn in peace" and then post all the pictures, you're just contributing to it and giving people more reason to keep taking these kinds of pictures. Don't say something is horrible and then spread it. This poster is not any better than those people.
wargled 29th-Aug-2013 11:33 pm (UTC)
In hindsight, I agree. I really shouldn't have submitted this and if I could delete it I would.

Edit: To be clear, though: I wasn't "pretending" to be anything. Evidently, I did not think this through and I apologize for posting this.

i want to apologize for my harsh words to you in my comment. i just feel extremely upset and angrered seeing my queen in such a fragile state being taken advantage of by the press. i think you didn't have any malicious intentions with this post since you're her fan just like i am and i overreacted.
wargled 30th-Aug-2013 12:01 am (UTC)
Yeah, my reaction to this when I saw it on another forum was "we haven't seen her in so long and when we do it's like this?" :(

Now I feel bad. This is no better than Tomomi Kahala's comments :/
aubotte 30th-Aug-2013 11:26 pm (UTC)
But I think you wanted to show to which extent the Japanese paparazzi were ready to go/how much they can ignore her pain and sorrow just to have footage of her, no? that's how I've taken your post...

To the ones who hate this post : Blame the heartless paparazzi, not the poster who is showing you the real face of Japanese mass-media!

It hurts me a lot to see her like that, and I really can't stand hearing those paparazzi shouting at her for "comments" and such, they are such beasts...
baka_neko3 30th-Aug-2013 12:25 am (UTC)
i do understand why you are upset... the comment and the pictures are a bad combination... just stumbling across the first picture is enough to disturb me, because i feel like, it's her private time and everyone should respect her as a human being, even if they're not fans of hers...
crimsonbreeze 29th-Aug-2013 11:33 pm (UTC)
She looks so fragile and vulnerable. I always thought she was strong enough to overcome anything, but I was wrong. Her image reminds me of her younger time, circa First Love. So natural, exposed. I hope you can find relief in the beauty of this world Hikki. You're way too young to dwell into this pain.
yasmine2009 29th-Aug-2013 11:39 pm (UTC)
Why is this even a post. I don't want see these horrible pictures and I'm sure others don't. This isn't entertainment news! A young woman lost her mother. Not cool!
ayatsurimaster 29th-Aug-2013 11:59 pm (UTC)
This is inhuman. These pictures and video shouldn't even be posted.
Poor thing.
tokyocinema 30th-Aug-2013 12:10 am (UTC)
first, that one lady who wanted to turn her mother's suicide into a song and now this. Honestly, I'm pretty sure no one would blame her or hold it against her if she just snapped and bitch slapped these idiots.

Just saying. /hairflip

jw does anyone possess any form of common sense or
evilblueberry 30th-Aug-2013 01:03 am (UTC)
sadly if she did do that I think they would still blame her for the whole thing. Media and people are so messed up.
45s 30th-Aug-2013 12:23 am (UTC)
Vultures swoop in. We know she's upset. We don't need photo confirmation
evilblueberry 30th-Aug-2013 01:02 am (UTC)
omg just seeing the pics is so heartbreaking. That poor woman. And that last picture.. no pap should ever be that close to the car. Such sick people. I really hope Hikaru will find some peaceful sanctuary away from all the media so that she may heal and grieve in peace. My thoughts are with her.
zr_misc 30th-Aug-2013 01:14 am (UTC)
I don't understand why people are freaking out because of the paparazzi, a famous person like her should always expect her photos to be taken everywhere she goes. It's not new information that paparazzi's don't have common sense.
nyankee 30th-Aug-2013 01:18 am (UTC)
No, what we should expect is for paparazzi to stop operating like a heartless machine in situations like this, not that Utada should live with the idea that people are going to set flashes off in her face while she tries to mourn the loss of her mother.

We need to be holding paparazzi, fans and other people inclined to do this nonsense to a higher standard, not blaming celebrities for not "expecting" to be treated like they're an exhibit at fucking SeaWorld. The problem is not with them.
zr_misc 30th-Aug-2013 01:34 am (UTC)
Tell that to them then.
nyankee 30th-Aug-2013 01:39 am (UTC)
Ooh. Aren't you ~edgy~.

I do. A lot. I'm pretty active on Twitter. That statement applied to you too, since you think she should "always expect her photos to be taken everywhere she goes."
zr_misc 30th-Aug-2013 01:49 am (UTC)
No I'm not edgy and you people should stop being overly sensitive about everything.
nyankee 30th-Aug-2013 01:56 am (UTC)
Or maybe you should examine why everyone else is upset and finds this distasteful and you're the only one in the room who doesn't find anything wrong with sticking a camera in someone's face after their mother dies, mid-funeral.
zr_misc 30th-Aug-2013 02:53 am (UTC)
Yeah yeah w/e
nyankee 30th-Aug-2013 01:15 am (UTC)
The death of a parent is not a fucking circus show. It brings the worst kinds of people into your life even when you're not famous, and the thought of everything people who are high-profile like this always have to go through turns my stomach. I really wish people would leave her and the rest of her family alone. Let them grieve in peace and on their own terms and stop taking pictures like you're at a zoo.
benwayshouse 30th-Aug-2013 01:20 am (UTC)
THISSSS. My grandfather died this year, and it's destroyed all of my relationships with my relatives on that side. So much unnecessary drama, motivated by selfishness.
nyankee 30th-Aug-2013 01:32 am (UTC)
I'm sorry about your grandfather, and I feel you. When my biological father died I was barred from the funeral because his wife didn't like me, and she could finally do something more concrete about that than refuse to have me at their house. He wasn't even around anymore and she was that desperate to remove me from their life and pretend I didn't exist (she claims he doesn't have a daughter).
arashic5 30th-Aug-2013 12:15 pm (UTC)
Yeah I had an argument with my uncle at my dad's funeral. Looking at hikki like this really made me remember the things I felt when I lost my dad.
lolufailhard 30th-Aug-2013 01:48 am (UTC)
You can just see the grief in her eyes, and her lips were seemingly trembling at one point...... :''''(((((( How could they do this to her? I thought the paps would at least be relatively respectful for a while..... How heartless and insensitive...
baby_angel191 30th-Aug-2013 05:09 am (UTC)
Seeing this picture of her really breaks my heart. People just have no respect/privacy. What has this world become? :(
mizumi10 30th-Aug-2013 08:18 am (UTC)
i know op didn't mean to post this because it wasn't thought through, but how distasteful and disrespectful these paparazzis are. :( such fragility i see. makes me want to cry.
akame_koi13 30th-Aug-2013 10:52 am (UTC)
This really is horrible. For goodness' sake, the woman's mother just passed away. Leave her alone! Does no one have any shame or sympathy or humanity?!
jennyhime 30th-Aug-2013 12:48 pm (UTC)
So sad,am I hearing correctly there's a female journalist yelling how does she feel now. What a dumb question to even ask, it's clear she's sad and heartbroken.
gambareletsgo 30th-Aug-2013 02:46 pm (UTC)
HIKKI BABY LET ME HOLD YOU
sawsan88 30th-Aug-2013 04:36 pm (UTC)
My heart goes with her :(
It's just heartbreaking she has to deal with all that .... <3
keiko1981 30th-Aug-2013 05:56 pm (UTC)
Since KyodoNews have disable commenting on the video I decided to send them a private message (in English) asking them to remove the video (included Japanese title in my message).
Now just wait and see if something happens.

I suggest that everyone who DON'T like this video - dislike it.
spanish_silver 30th-Aug-2013 11:34 pm (UTC)
that's so awful... but you can't really blame the reporters when even fans are posting and sharing and commenting on this story.
firemelon 31st-Aug-2013 05:36 am (UTC)
The pictures speak more than enough, there was no need for them to post video.
palamecian 1st-Sep-2013 05:39 am (UTC)
This entire media circus pisses me off! LET HER MOURN IN FUCKING PEACE! I swear people are nothing but animals these days.
tryxkittie 1st-Sep-2013 10:05 pm (UTC)
Maybe these pics/vids should be under a cut with a warning?

But yeah, I can't believe this shit, but I remember when Cory Monteith died, someone shoved a camera in his cousin's face right as he had visited a memorial and I was like....entertainment industry vultures. They all need to be thrown in jail.
