WOW.
xxkonokisekixx 17th-Mar-2010 03:13 am (UTC)
My reaction exactly.
originaru 17th-Mar-2010 03:02 am (UTC)
Hasn't Nakai been a high earning entertainer for a while? :O Not surprised to see him and Kimura up there, but I was kind of wowed at seeing Sho's name. You go bb.
chifunii 17th-Mar-2010 03:03 am (UTC)
...Buy something nice for yourself Sho.
But nearly all of those incomes are justified to a certain extent, I mean, they're really popular, etc.etc. But it's not only that, it's also because they're doing a crapload of stuff. I'm not sure about everyone else, but Sho is singing/dancing/ghei-ing up the world as Arashi, but also doing newscasting, TV show filming (with Arashi), acting in dramas, and doing endorsements and stuff.

These guys are busy...and they get the income to show for it. +100M yen for being awesome. Or something weird like that.
godsgirl7 17th-Mar-2010 04:49 am (UTC)
I agree. Like, I'm pretty sure being a newscaster is why Sho is making more than the rest of Arashi. Plus, hello, I'm pretty sure this is nothing compared to Western actors/singers/etc...
flipangel_88 17th-Mar-2010 03:04 am (UTC)
you know what, sadly that's not very much at all ... Nakai makes a little over 5.5 million US dollars. I honestly was expecting them to make so much more than what they seem to make a year ...
lane_myer 17th-Mar-2010 03:05 am (UTC)
MTE. Especially when you consider how much money they bring in for JE and their record labels.
ih8je 17th-Mar-2010 03:05 am (UTC)

Their incomes are small change comparing to American celebrities....
domyouji_love 17th-Mar-2010 03:14 am (UTC)
They work for Johnny, I'd say they're doing good just with that fact alone.
emiliecious 17th-Mar-2010 03:05 am (UTC)
wow sho is fucking loaded. marry me now ♥
katokathy 17th-Mar-2010 03:09 am (UTC)
Behind all that modesty, I always knew he was a rich/smart kid.
sociologique 17th-Mar-2010 03:06 am (UTC)
gotDAMN Sho, get that money money.

I still figured they made way, waaaaaaaayyyy more than that, though. Like, swimming in olympic-sized pools of money a la Scrooge McDuck. Oh, wait, no, that's Johnny.
sociologique 17th-Mar-2010 03:08 am (UTC)

Sakurai Sho: acquiring currency, disregarding females everyday

Just because the icon fit. That's it.
kawaii_beela 17th-Mar-2010 03:25 am (UTC)
LOLLL WINNNN XDDDD
lane_myer 17th-Mar-2010 03:08 am (UTC)
I'm surprised to see Sho up there. Taichi is on every network, and SMAP is SMAP, but I didn't realize Sho had so much individual work last year.

What's potential rating? Pardon my ignorance but I never took an econ class during college.
sociologique 17th-Mar-2010 03:12 am (UTC)
It's not econ :) The kanji is about television ratings
2hothere 17th-Mar-2010 03:09 am (UTC)

that's not a lot of money, actually...I think 15 year-old Miley Cyrus makes more money than Nakai.
flipangel_88 17th-Mar-2010 03:11 am (UTC)
oh she definitely does ...
crystaltokyo 17th-Mar-2010 03:10 am (UTC)
I'm not sayin' I'm a gold digger but... Suddenly I realize why I'm so attracted to Sho, beyond the smarts, looks, and suits.
katokathy 17th-Mar-2010 03:14 am (UTC)
I know eh? I mean when he was in Vancouver for News Zero, he was wearing a really nice trench coat which was probably some luxury brand and also carrying an LV luggage bag... WOAH Sho. >D

He's probably one of those smart, rich kids from the start. Seems to come from a well-off family.
flipangel_88 17th-Mar-2010 03:11 am (UTC)
does the list only reveal the top 5 highest money makers. I wonder what the rest of ARASHI make; as well as the younger acts like NEWS, Kanjani8, & KAT-TUN ...
domyouji_love 17th-Mar-2010 03:12 am (UTC)
I never imagined Sho would be on the list. I was assuming it would be some of the older Johnny's (i.e. Okada Junichi or Nagase Tomoya).
ulchick418 17th-Mar-2010 03:13 am (UTC)
Err, just to let you know for Taichi: "notch Tailand" is actually 'Tainocchi'. (ROFL FOREVER. Oh Google)
katokathy 17th-Mar-2010 03:19 am (UTC)
Oh thank God for this. XD I just could not find out what that was and it's the only thing Google translated to. = =
2bling_bling 17th-Mar-2010 03:14 am (UTC)

I wouldn't want to marry any of these JE guys...They're not that RICH especially the cost of living in Japan is horrendously expensive.

loverspit 17th-Mar-2010 03:37 am (UTC)
Lol! You *couldn't* even if you *wanted* to because of the Johnny-san sized cockblock.
larrapin 17th-Mar-2010 03:15 am (UTC)
Interesting discrepancy between the three lists. Which one is the right one?

I doubt Sho would be making more than Kusanagi Tsuyoshi though.
katokathy 17th-Mar-2010 03:32 am (UTC)
Not sure which the 'right one' would be because they're from different articles/links at the bottom.
abbysayswhat 17th-Mar-2010 03:15 am (UTC)
why am i not surprised at the low amount? oh johhny...
moogle_tey 17th-Mar-2010 03:15 am (UTC)
Interesting...and yet, I'd rather know what the Bottom 5 Annual Incomes look like. XD XD XD For a little perspective.
flipangel_88 17th-Mar-2010 03:17 am (UTC)
THIS~!

It's probably the new group that came out, being that they are younger and less popular than the more veteran Johnny's
sandreen 17th-Mar-2010 03:16 am (UTC)
I know I shouldn't be surprised, but man, Sho-chan's rich! XD
And it kind of makes me LOL that since he has no hobbies he invests that money in food/dinner. XD
botanbutton 17th-Mar-2010 03:41 am (UTC)
Haha!, lol, thats right!
I should let him know I'm connoisseur of all food.
cleyra 17th-Mar-2010 03:17 am (UTC)
I think there's a typo somewhere in this "According to bulletin in 2005, the income of year 2004 of Nakai was 220M and Kimura was 270 yen"

Takuya only earned 270 yen? XD;;;
katokathy 17th-Mar-2010 03:26 am (UTC)
There probably is lol. Sorry, you can check the original sources below. The girl who translated this probably made a mistake and Google doesn't do much better.
goto 17th-Mar-2010 03:18 am (UTC)
Don't certain idols have things like housing accommodations paid for them...I SWEAR I read that somewhere (in relation to H!P girls) if it's true then JE boys probably have similar perks like that.
freepureangel 17th-Mar-2010 03:32 am (UTC)
JE idols live in their own apartment. Some share. I heard Jin and Yamapi share apartments.

I think, when they're trainees, they might live with another trainee.
But I remember from an old interview, someone said that while they were training, they just lived at home and bused/trained to the company everyday to train.
@@"
maclou 17th-Mar-2010 03:18 am (UTC)
I love how people are saying it's not that much compared to American celebs. OBVIOUSLY they're not going to make as much as American celebrities. They make plenty, it's American celebrities that make too damn much.
xkimchi_ninja 17th-Mar-2010 03:25 am (UTC)
This~ Especially considering that the Japanese entertainment industry isn't as huge or global as the American one.
yamakaze9 17th-Mar-2010 03:19 am (UTC)
WHAT YEARLY INCOME??? this is their ANNUALLY????

LOl who would have thought that Sho will even top Shingo and Taichi..his Dai sempais lol
epicwaters 17th-Mar-2010 03:20 am (UTC)
That's right, get 'cho money Taichi!!
Whether these are real or not, looks like money after taxes lol. I'd think they'd get more dinero than that.
xxkonokisekixx 17th-Mar-2010 03:21 am (UTC)
Not surprised at all to see Nakai and KimuTaku topping the list. Sho is a bit of a shock though. Good for him! ♥

It pisses me off seeing people go, "they only make that much?" Really, they could be in a much worse position had they signed with another company.
flipangel_88 17th-Mar-2010 03:34 am (UTC)
I only say "they only make that much" because when you watch Japanese television these guys (especially Nakai and KimuTaku) are everywhere and make great contributions to the entertainment industry, whether through ratings or sponsorships for products and whatnot.

I'm shocked because I think they deserve more considering everything they have done and how long they have been doing this.

I am not familiar with other companies/agencies so I cannot defend nor fight your statement. Regardless which company they could have signed with, they did not sign with them and instead are part of Johnny's & Associates, which is one of the more dominant and profitable agencies in Japan, and therefore, my shock is valid because of the fact.

I know they make a lot of money, I mean how many people get to say they make more than a million dollars a year, but again, with everything they do and how many days out of the year they work, I was just expecting a bit more.
