Thanks for posting! Very interesting. And sad. I liked the snark too, btw!

Never been a big fan of Maki or Momosu for that matter, but this was really sad.

She's a strong woman!

Japanese media is very sensationalist and really oppresive on the artists life. Just go and watch Matchy's special. They made their Dai Sempai talk about his tragedy about how his mother died and what happened at the Nihon Record Taisho.

Poor Maki making her cry like that ;_;
ifotismeni 8th-Aug-2010 03:01 pm (UTC)
doesn't this strike anyone else as extremely exploitative?
lady_mercury 8th-Aug-2010 03:22 pm (UTC)
Japan is known for exploiting the littlest shit to get an artist to sell.

Now go buy her CD.
And call your mom.

You know what? I don't even like JPop.

But I will. I will buy that CD and call my mom.

;O; sad story for sure D:

Its sad and all but is her story really unique and different from every other person's story out there in terms of family delinquency and problems? These days, seeing her being a 14 year old alcoholic turned 23 year old coke addict is more heart wrenching.

I dunno, I feel for her but I don't think that her plight should sensationalized as one of the biggest tragedies to happen to a pop singer's life. Jennifer Hudson is a tragedy... Maki Goto is just life.
awkwardnormalcy 8th-Aug-2010 06:32 pm (UTC)
No its not the biggest tragedy but its still sad, just because she didn't suffer as much as Jennifer doesn't mean she didn't suffer, just in a different way.

Every aspect of a celebrities life is sensationalized if you can make money off of it.

Holy god. I knew some of the details about all of this, but not the whole thing. Maki, you're a strong gal. Keep it up. Your mom is proud of you.

Fuck, now I can't stop crying. ;_;

I remember the funeral for her mom. The press was just constantly picking at everything :/
stole_away 8th-Aug-2010 04:23 pm (UTC)
i cried. D:
this is so sad ):
she's been through so much.
aznsao9 8th-Aug-2010 04:31 pm (UTC)
i've listened to a few of her songs... but nothing else beyond that.
but wow, she's come a long way and what a very heartbreaking story.
reading all of it... i tried so hard not to tear up... but it was hard... because it just hits you.
and that's sad about her being bullied, losing both parents, her "friends" selling pictures to the tabloids... so messed up.
but good things that came out of her life... she bought a house at age 15, continued with her life and made great songs and other things.
to be honest, i really hope for her to obtain a lot of happiness from now on and now i'm going to go hear that song for her mom.
thank you so much for sharing.

Poor girl. I think it was in bad taste to re-enact some scenes.
