Ranma 1/2 Cast in Costume Revealed!!!

The Nikkan Sports newspaper published a picture of the cast in costume for the live-action television special inspired by Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 martial arts comedy manga on Thursday. As a revival of the manga, the special tells an original story centering around Akane Tendo (played by Yui Aragaki). Kenta Kaku and Natsuna play the dual male/female roles of the title character.
Other cast members include Kyoko Hasegawa (Angel Bank: Dragon Zakura Gaiden, Dragon Zakura) as the oldest Tendo sister, Kasumi. Tofu Ono, the man who has a crush on Kasumi even as Akane has a crush on him, is played by Shosuke Tanihara (Gekijoban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Victini to Kuroki Eiyū Zekrom, The Sky Crawlers). Genma — Ranma's father who transforms into a panda when splashed with cold water — appears in the form of actor Arata Furuta (20th Century Boys, Ping Pong). Katsuhisa Namase (Gokusen, Yatterman) plays Akane and Kasumi's father Soun Tendo.
In addition, Kento Nagayama (Liar Game The Final Stage, Solanin) will play Ranma's rival Tatewaki Kuno. Model/actress Maki Nishiyama assumes the role of the middle sister in the Tendo family, Nabiki. Yuta Kanai (L change the WorLd, Ikigami, Kimi ni Todoke) plays Hikaru Gosunkugi, the clingy classmate with a one-sided crush on the third Tendo sister, Akane. Ryosei Tayama (Kurosagi, GTO) is Okamada, the live-action version's enemy character who is not in the original manga.
In the story, Akane is determined to protect the family's legacy, its dojo. However, her father Soun suddenly and arbitrarily announced one day that "only men can be heirs." Unfortunately, this puts Ranma in a bind, since he turns female when splashed with cold water after falling into a cursed hot spring in China. To return himself to a "full man," Ranma searches for the "secret hot spring" and gets caught up in a battle with a mysterious enemy. Now Akane holds the key to the story.
The special will air during NTV's 7:00 p.m. Friday Super Prime timeslot in December. The original manga ran in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine from 1987 to 1996, and Shogakukan printed 53 million copies of the compiled book volumes.

Shaku Yumiko mistakenly buys an iPod Touch instead of an iPhone

Talento Shaku Yumiko cracked up her fans after she revealed that she accidentally bought an iPod Touch instead of an iPhone.

On October 18th, the star blogged her excitement about buying an “iPhone” by writing, “Finally! I made my official smartphone debut!” She continued, “I remembered a famous saying that goes ‘Kaitai toki wa kaikae doki’ (The time to buy is the time to change), so I made up my mind. I usually see people playing with it on the train — the technique of the smooth ninja thumb~ I’m so cool…

Once she received it however, Shaku’s excitement quickly turned into disappointment.

Yesterday, I happily showed off my new iPhone, but it seems this is an iPhone touch,” she said.

Shaku sighed, “No matter how many times people explain it to me, I don’t understand the difference because it contains the latest apps, and I can also use the internet, music, and email. I can use my smooth thumb technique, and I can also use the video phone. If you don’t call this a smartphone, then what is it?

Shaku adorably warned her fans against making the same mistake. “The appearance is confusing and complex, so for those of you who are considering getting an iPhone, please be careful not to make that mistake.

I almost died laughing looking at albums' NINKI. Seriously, I can't even imagine how the albums chart gonna look like next week! On the other hand, the no.1 single is gonna pawn, again! As if anyone can dispute that...:)

Anyway, hopefully back number and Inagaki Junichi-san get decent numbers at least. Also rooting for Maaya, Mana-chan and Nakajima Miyuki-san in the singles chart! :)

Foreigners show their Japanese singing skills on 'Nodo Jiman Za! World'

If you can sing in Japanese and you’re brave, then you should try for a spot on NTV’s program “Nodo Jiman Za! World.” Two segments were aired this year—one in June and the other on Oct 11.

“Nodo Jiman” has been around for decades, mostly on NHK—“nodo” means throat and “jiman” means boast. It features amateur singers from across Japan who sing their hearts out before a nationwide audience. It has mainly been for Japanese (although African-American singer Jero once appeared on it).

This year, NTV aired its own version—“Nodo Jiman Za! World,” specifically for foreign residents who love singing in Japanese. The contest attracted 13 contestants from 10 countries. The youngest was 12 and the oldest 71.

The winner on Oct 11 was Nicholas Edwards, 19, from the U.S. state of Oregon. He sang “Konayuki” (Powder snow) by Remioromen in the final round.
