Keep yourself alive: The original Tomo-chan is back!

Singer Kahala Tomomi (37), who has been away from the entertainment industry since 2007, is looking to make a comeback. She used her brother’s blog to talk a little about her plans to return, though nothing concrete has been decided yet.

On October 30, she wrote on the blog that she has been living overseas with her father since about a year ago, in order to regain her health and her own self. She said that she is currently very happy, and she plans to return to Japan before the end of this year to undergo voice training and acting practice with the aim of returning to show business.

Kahala has previously made headlines for her personal life, including an apparent suicide attempt in 1999. In 2009 and 2010, she had to be taken to the hospital after tranquilizer overdoses.

Kahala’s agency, who let her go in 2007 after continually being unable to contact her, said that it has not heard anything about her making a comeback.

I loooooooooooove Tomo-chan. I am happy that she is able to comeback (despite being a mess) and overcame her problems. I hope she doesn't go back to having her old boyfriend (TK) producing her again (rumors been going around about this). It's going to be a mess.

Arashi donates 300 million yen to disaster relief

Nippon no Arashi : Pocket Version

It’s been revealed that popular group Arashi has donated about 300 million yen (approximately $3,841,229 USD) to Iwate, Miyagi, and Fukushima, the areas affected by the Tohoku earthquake.

A portion of the donation, 50 million yen, includes the members’ own royalties from their book “Nippon no Arashi : pocket version” which was released back in June. As reported last fall, “Nippon no Arashi” is based on the Arashi members’ trip throughout Japan, and it was first privately donated to 40,000 elementary, junior high, and high schools nationwide. Then the book was released to the public, due to the high demand, and has sold about 420,000 copies. The 300 million yen also includes the profits from the publishing company, as well as the sales of the charity goods from the charity event “Arashi no Wakuwaku Gakkou” which was held at the Tokyo Dome for three days back in June.

The donation was made directly to each prefecture on November 2nd (100 million yen or around $1.28 million USD per prefecture).
