(new KAT-TUN song, SMILE FOR YOU, from CHAIN album)

As some of you are probably already aware, the short KAT-TUN anime/CM starts today in Japan (2012.01.13). The anime/CM is for the renewal of the mobile gaming site Logtomo, whose name is changing to entag!. The CM broadcast schedule for Japan is here. The anime has a total of five very short episodes, with an overall running time of 4min. It's basically to promote the site (which is why you have Maru running around in each ep, showing off the games on his phone, lol).

The anime scenario is that this girl is living with KAT-TUN in a "non-blood related" brother-sister way. There are several doki-doki scenes. ;P So it's like an otome game without actually being a game unfortunately.

Episode 1 - Junnosuke (48s)
It's been 1 month since I first started living with the non-blood related brothers...

Episode 2 - Tatsuya (51s)
Kyaa! Doki-Doki Every Day☆

Episode 3 - Koki (47s)
Cooking for my sake...

Episode 4 - Kazuya (52s)
It's as if we're newlyweds (embarrassed)

Episode 5 - Yuichi (53s)
The nice surprise from everyone is...!

Compilation (all 5 eps together) (4min12s)

LOLOL. Maru was all over the place. Ueda is hot. I still think the Kame's anime character didn't match him and that Maru switched to Junno. But can't we have more? This is fun.

“ALWAYS 3″ uses the sky as the backdrop for an advertisement

On January 12th, the promotions for the upcoming third and final installment in the “ALWAYS” trilogy, “ALWAYS San-chome no Yuhi ‘64” took to the skies. The film used three propeller planes to write ‘333′ as a form of advertisement and used the vast blue sky as the backdrop.

“ALWAYS San-chome no Yuhi ‘64″ (English title: “Always: Sunset on Third Street 3“) will continue to depict the lives of the residents at Third Street in Tokyo, this time set in 1964. The Olympics are set to take place in Tokyo and the country has experienced a period of rapid economic growth.

The best spot to see the skywriting was from the back of the Tokyo Tower, where the main cast witnessed the expensive event (costs of $390,000 USD) together with the reporters and the spectators.

Another half-assed debut group from Johnny?

Mezamashi 2012.01.12

The group is going to debut in less than 3 weeks but the members rarely have any TV appearance to promote for their dvd debut. Even Johnny magazines (Duet, Potato, Wink Up, etc.) do not even bother let them be on the covers. Do you think A.B.C-Z will be given a proper debut like Kis-my-ft2 or this is just another half-assed debut that Johnny makes just to shut the fans up?

Is Hollywood 'whitewashing' Asian roles?

By Stephanie Siek, CNN

(CNN) - America’s embrace of Japanese pop culture, particularly manga and anime, hasn’t resulted in an embrace of Asian and Asian-American actors when those storylines go to Hollywood.

Two upcoming feature films based on Japanese material are already stirring controversy after rumors that white American actors will be cast as characters originally written as Japanese.

Tom Cruise is rumored to be in talks to play the lead role in the Warner Bros. adaptation of Japanese novel “All You Need is Kill,” replacing a Japanese main character. Warner Bros., which is owned by the same parent company as CNN, is also in the pre-production stages of making a live-action version of “Akira,” a graphic novel that was made into a landmark 1988 animated feature film in Japan. All of the actors rumored to be in consideration for the upcoming film’s main characters are white Americans, although casting calls invited actors of “any race” to audition.

That’s troubling to both the series’ devoted fans and advocates of diversity in casting.

Racebending.com, an international grassroots organization founded in 2009, protests what it sees as the “whitewashing” of film roles and pushes for the fair representation of minorities in media. Spokesman Michael Le said that the increasing popularity of manga and anime titles means that movie producers are keen to cash in, but many don't see value in keeping the original Asian characters that made them popular.

“I remember 10 years ago, I could walk into [the comics aisle of] a Barnes and Noble and it would be all western comics, all DC and Marvel. Now I walk in and the Asian section is bigger than the western comics section,” Le said. “Asian culture is enormously popular and acceptable, but the people are not. The people are inconveniently the wrong race, and so whitewashing is a result.”
