During the event, Okada was moved to tears by Oguri’s surprise letter. As a matter of fact, Okada had first planned to give Oguri a surprise letter on this day. However, upon hearing about the surprise, Oguri also wrote a letter to Okada.
Okada and Oguri only share 5 scenes in the movie, but they’ve spent over a year together with filming and promotional events. At their final event, Okada told Oguri, “During our private time, he would always give me advice about work. It’s like I’ve really gained an older brother. One day I plan to overtake you, and pull pranks on you with all my strength. Please co-star with me again someday.”
Meanwhile, Oguri read his letter aloud, “He’s friendly, hates losing, selfish, and pure. But I, as an older brother, am very happy to have a younger brother like Okada-kun.” As Okada wiped away his tears, the crowd was also deeply touched by the brotherhood.

Personally, I don't think Moe should have left the group for AKB48, that's a whole lot of wasted talent ;A; But I like ami a lot too.
On May 14th, Fuji TV announced that they will be adapting 11 of Higashino Keigo’s best short stories into one omnibus drama called ‘Mokuyo Gekijo – Higashino Keigo Mysteries‘.
The drama will be comprised of 11 episodes, featuring 11 different stories and starring 11 different actors. Of course the name Higashino stands for amazing mystery novels, but it’s his varied use of different atmospheres from serious to comedic to eerie that make each story stand out from his previous works. This kind of variety becomes even more evident when composed into short stories and that’s exactly what Fuji TV wants to offer their viewers this coming summer season. Airing a weekly drama in an omnibus style is a first in the history of Japanese dramas.
Actor Nakai Kiichi will serve as a story guide and will introduce each of the stories for the viewers with a certain breeze of humor.
The first story ‘Sayonara Coach‘ is from a collection called ‘Hannin no Inai Satsujin no Yoru‘ and stars actor Karasawa Toshiaki. He plays an archery coach whose favorite pupil committed suicide after his dream to participate in the Olympics didn’t come true.
Karasawa commented, “First of all Higashino knows how to create gripping mysteries, but it’s also his depiction of the darkness that dwells within each of us and the weakness and slyness of people that makes his works so fascinating. I can’t wait to portray the depth of human psychology together with the rest of the cast.”
Aside from ‘Hannin no Inai Satsujin no Yoru’, Fuji TV will be adapting short stories from Higashino’s collections called ‘Ayashii Hitobito‘ and ‘Ano Koro no Dareka‘.
The second short story, ‘Endless Night‘, stars Matsushita Nao as a woman whose husband is killed. In the third story called ‘Reiko to Reiko‘, a lawyer played by Mizuki Alisa gets dragged into a mysterious murder case related to a puzzling young girl. In ‘Amai Hazu Nanoni‘, Sorimachi Takashi ends up in an ultimate conflict as a man who loses his daughter in a mysterious incident. Nagasawa Masami will have to solve the mysterious puzzle left behind by her murdered boyfriend in a comedic mystery story called ‘Charade ga Ippai‘.
The cast of the remaining six short stories has yet to be confirmed and will be announced at a later date.
‘Mokuyo Gekijo – Higashino Keigo Mysteries’ will air every Thursday at 10:00 pm next season.

Besides Tamamori, talent Gal Sone and Takahashi Shigeo from duo Savanna will also be taking part in this challenge.
Tamamori, who has never tried cooking nor buying food for he lives at his parents house, reportedly struggles with this project.

On May 6th, 5-member girls unit 9nine held their first hall one-man live at Nippon Seinenkan.
The girls held two performances on this day for a total of about 2,600 fans. They sang 16 songs including their upcoming single, “Ryusei no Kuchizuke“.
9nine formed back in 2005 with 9 members. In September of 2010, the group went through a renewal, which resulted with their current members Kawashima Umika, Satake Uki, Nishiwaki Sayaka, Murata Hirona, and Yoshii Kanae. This past January, 9nine released their single, “Shoujo Traveler“, which became their first song to rank in the top 10 on Oricon’s weekly single charts. Then in March, they placed 8th on Oricon’s weekly ranking with their album, ‘9nine‘.
The concert was titled ‘Seinenkan no 9nine‘, and it was held with the theme of “evolution”. The girls also challenged themselves to their first live band performance with Satake on bass, Murata on drums, Yoshii on guitar, Kawashima on piano, and Nishiwaki on keyboard.
After their band performance, Satake commented, “Since this was our first hall one-man live, we did our best since the album was released on this day, and to show everyone 9nine on a bigger scale! I think these past two months were our time of youth! I am thankful for all the love and courage you have given us!”
Additionally, it was announced that 9nine would be holding a live concert on August 19th at Hibiya Outdoors Theater. Nishiwaki expressed, “When I first heard about it, I was insecure. But two months ago, I couldn’t imagine myself standing here today, and now we were able to actually welcome this day. I want to move on to our next challenge.”

The actress wore a necklace and ring totaling over one hundred million yen as well as a beautiful blue dress to the event. "It's such an honor. My heart is pounding. I'd love to be a woman who can put [jewelry like this] on of my own accord," she commented.
"Before I even realized it, I'll be turning 27 this year, so I wonder if I'm at the age where expensive jewelry suits me," said Ueto. She also sweetly remarked that she wants to buy jewelry to match with her mother one day. "Generally they're for couples and such, but I've thought about picking out and buying jewelry with my mother so that it can be something with deep meaning for us," she told the press.
At the event, actress Dan Rei also made an appearance wearing a green dress and a bracelet with 1,560 separate diamonds attached. "My heart's fluttering, like it's dancing or something," the actress said earnestly. "I can feel its profound importance, and the history [behind the company]."
At the party, some of Tiffany's most prized jewels from their main shop in New York were put on display, including the world's largest yellow diamond (which rarely leaves the headquarters store). Actress Manda Hisako, models SHIHO, Tomioka Yoshiko, and Chinese actress Zhang Jingchu also appeared at the event.
I love it. They just keep getting better and better, imo.
Gay rights campaigners in Japan hit out Thursday at Takeshi “Beat” Kitano after the award-winning actor-director compared same-sex marriage with bestiality.
Kitano, whose yakuza gangster films are popular around the world, enraged activists with his comments on a popular current affairs show as guests were being asked for their opinions on Barack Obama’s stance on gay marriage.
“Obama supports gay marriage. You would support a marriage to an animal eventually, then,” Kitano said after being shown footage of people celebrating the U.S. president’s comments.
Gays and lesbians do not usually encounter outright hostility in Japan, but there are few rights built into law for same-sex couples and there is little public debate on gay marriage.
Taiga Ishikawa, a gay activist and Tokyo assembly member who was among those shown celebrating in the program on Saturday, said the remark was unbecoming for someone of Kitano’s global stature.
“He is a world famous film director. It is disappointing that such an influential figure made that kind of negative comment,” Ishikawa told AFP.
“As a movie director, he must be a person with a great sense of imagination. I wish he had been able to put himself in the position of gay and lesbian people in society.”
Kitano, whose 1997 film Hana-bi won the Golden Lion at Venice, is a regular feature on Japanese television, hosting his own weekly show.
Last week Obama became the first sitting U.S. president to openly back gay marriage, an issue that sharply divides America.
Earlier this week, Tokyo Disney Resort confirmed same-sex wedding ceremonies could be held at hotels inside the popular theme park.
Will the world wake up to the scent of Perfume?
By DANIEL ROBSON
When the Nippon Budokan was built in 1964, its architects probably never envisaged it one day resembling a massive nightclub filled with hundreds of laser beams in every shade of neon as three women in lightup minidresses danced like finely tuned robots to the sound of the bassiest bombast imaginable. But this is exactly what Tokyo witnessed last week when the venerable venue hosted four concerts by chart-topping J-pop trio Perfume.
Five hours before the May 11 show, Ayaka Nishiwaki (better known as A-Chan, pronounced "at-chan"), Ayano Omoto (Nocchi) and Yuka Kashino (Kashiyuka) are giving The Japan Times their first ever — and so far only — sit-down interview with an English-language publication.

On May 16th, singer Ieiri Leo held a free live, ‘FREE LIVE TOUR 2012‘, at Lazona Kawasaki to commemorate the release of her 2nd single, “Shine“.
In front of 2,500 people, Ieiri sang a total of 4 songs including “Shine” and her debut number “Sabrina“. She expressed, “I’m very happy that so many people came out.” After the live, she held a press conference where she shared her goal of performing at this year’s ‘Kohaku Uta Gassen‘, “I hope to aim for it this year, so I want to push forward like this.”
Ieiri moved to Tokyo from Fukuoka at the age of 16, and she started to compare herself to the people around her. “Shine” was created when she regained her confidence after a friend’s reminder, “You have music.”
The singer called out, “I want people who have lost sight of their individuality and dreams to listen to it.” “Shine” is currently being used as the theme song to Amami Yuki’s starring drama, ‘Kaeru no Oujo-sama‘.
Ieiri claimed that she was nervous before the live saying, “In the tent, I sat on the floor while grasping my legs and concentrated for about 3 minutes.” However, after her performance, she reflected, “It turned out to be a powerful live.”
She also seemed excited to hold free lives in other places in Japan, “After reading the messages I receive, there are times I wonder ‘what kind of people write them?‘, so I’m happy that I get to meet them directly.”
