Korean male singer, Kim Hyun Joong
has grabbed the top spot in the singles chart with his 2nd single, "HEAT."
The first week sales is higher than his debut Japanese single, "KISS KISS/LUCKY Guy" which was released in January this year. This is his first time at number one. Kim is only the 5th foreign male soloist to have topped the chart since Jerry Wallace with "Man's World" (July 1970), Daniel Boone with "Beautiful Sunday" (March 1976), Elton John with "Candle In The Wind" (September 1997), and fellow Korean soloist Jang Geun Suk with "Let me cry" (April last year). As for first week's sales, this single is only 3rd highest for foreign male soloist after XIAH Junsu's "XIAH (Intoxication)" with 195k (May 2010) and Elton John with 184k. The lyrics for this single is written by B'z's Inaba Koshi, making it 12 years since his lyrics for J-FRIENDS' "Next 100 Years" to top the chart besides his works for B'z. The same goes to B'z's Tak Matsumoto who wrote the music for this single, as it has been 6 years and 3 months for his works other than B'z since KAT-TUN's "Real Face."
In the albums chart, popular singer Amuro Namie
's 9th original studio album, "Uncontrolled"
has achieved the 2nd consecutive week at no.1. This is her new album in 2 years. This is also the first time this year for a female artist to top the albums chart for 2 weeks in a row. The last time she managed 2 consecutive weeks at the top was with last year's collaboration album, "Checkmate!", a year and 2 months ago. As for original studio album, the last time was with "PLAY" (June 2007), 5 years ago.
Meanwhile, 5-member Johnny's group, A.B.C-Z
have achieved their 2nd consecutive no.1 music-DVD with "ABC Za Star Gekijou."
They are only the 3rd male group to achieve no.1 music-DVD for 2nd consecutive time since debut after KinKi Kids and KAT-TUN. It has been 7 years and 2 months since KAT-TUN did it. This DVD consists of 2 parts; part 1 is the group's original musical, "We are the Five Stars!", while part 2 is their live performances. A.B.C-Z also took the no.1 spot in the music-BD chart by selling 7,029 copies of this work's Blu-Ray version. The overall first week total for DVD+BD is 19,068 copies.Posting the top 30 albums/singles and the top 10 music-DVDs. The second column in the top 10 refers to sales in 2012. New release in bold
