Yoji Shinkawa's Metal Gear Solid Famitsu Cover

Metal Gear series art director Yoji Shinkawa created a special drawing for Famitsu's big 25th anniversary feature on the franchise this week. Take a look at the cover here, courtesy of Famitsu.com.

Speaking with Enterbrain's CEO in Famitsu's feature, Shinkawa said that he decided to put Solid Snake and Cyborg Ninja on the cover because he feel they represent the MGS series.

This feature is where we first learned of MGS4's Trophy patch update. The magazine does not provide an exact release date for the patch. The upcoming budget version of MGS4, which includes the patch by default, is going to be rolled out to shops some time in August, so current speculation is that the downloadable patch will be available around that time.

Toda Erika & Ayano Go’s relationship still going strong? Her father said it won't last long!

On July 12th, tabloids ‘Josei Seven‘ and ‘FRIDAY‘ both published articles about actress Toda Erika (23) and actor Ayano Go (30) heading to Kobe by train.

The couple got off the train at Shinkobe Station. Why Kobe? It’s the home town of Toda and so the initial thoughts were that she might be planning to introduce him to her parents, but ‘FRIDAY’ stated that Toda herself denied those allegations. ‘Josei Seven’ also weren’t able to spot them heading to her parents, but that didn’t stop them from contacting her father.

It seems like Toda came together with Ayano this time. Did they come to greet you?” They asked him. However, he answered, “No, they didn’t come here. She’s here to visit her grandmother who is hospitalized at a hospital in Kobe. Of course he didn’t go there with her!

The reporter then asked whether he had already met Ayano before and he explained, “I think it was the year before last, around the end of the year. I had to go to Tokyo for work and that’s when she introduced him to me.” Back then Ayano wasn’t really receiving a lot of casting offers and therefore lacked a bit of self-confidence when meeting her father. He continued,As her father, I have to admit that he isn’t the best choice. I’m sure it won’t last long… Marriage is out of the question.

Toda’s previous alleged relationship with Kanjani8’s Murakami Shingo (30) was brought up by the reporter about which her father commented, “Erika just can’t stay silent when she’s in a serious relationship. She already introduced me to both Murakami and Matsuyama Kenichi (27). Now they were some nice guys. (laughs)

It seems like her father was more fond of her previous boyfriends than Ayano. He added, “Erika’s relationships have always lasted around two years. It will be two years again soon (laughs)… just kidding.

Meanwhile the agencies of the two actors didn’t bother to comment on private matters.

Korean male singer, Kim Hyun Joong has grabbed the top spot in the singles chart with his 2nd single, "HEAT." The first week sales is higher than his debut Japanese single, "KISS KISS/LUCKY Guy" which was released in January this year. This is his first time at number one. Kim is only the 5th foreign male soloist to have topped the chart since Jerry Wallace with "Man's World" (July 1970), Daniel Boone with "Beautiful Sunday" (March 1976), Elton John with "Candle In The Wind" (September 1997), and fellow Korean soloist Jang Geun Suk with "Let me cry" (April last year). As for first week's sales, this single is only 3rd highest for foreign male soloist after XIAH Junsu's "XIAH (Intoxication)" with 195k (May 2010) and Elton John with 184k. The lyrics for this single is written by B'z's Inaba Koshi, making it 12 years since his lyrics for J-FRIENDS' "Next 100 Years" to top the chart besides his works for B'z. The same goes to B'z's Tak Matsumoto who wrote the music for this single, as it has been 6 years and 3 months for his works other than B'z since KAT-TUN's "Real Face."

In the albums chart, popular singer Amuro Namie's 9th original studio album, "Uncontrolled" has achieved the 2nd consecutive week at no.1. This is her new album in 2 years. This is also the first time this year for a female artist to top the albums chart for 2 weeks in a row. The last time she managed 2 consecutive weeks at the top was with last year's collaboration album, "Checkmate!", a year and 2 months ago. As for original studio album, the last time was with "PLAY" (June 2007), 5 years ago.

Meanwhile, 5-member Johnny's group, A.B.C-Z have achieved their 2nd consecutive no.1 music-DVD with "ABC Za Star Gekijou." They are only the 3rd male group to achieve no.1 music-DVD for 2nd consecutive time since debut after KinKi Kids and KAT-TUN. It has been 7 years and 2 months since KAT-TUN did it. This DVD consists of 2 parts; part 1 is the group's original musical, "We are the Five Stars!", while part 2 is their live performances. A.B.C-Z also took the no.1 spot in the music-BD chart by selling 7,029 copies of this work's Blu-Ray version. The overall first week total for DVD+BD is 19,068 copies.

Posting the top 30 albums/singles and the top 10 music-DVDs. The second column in the top 10 refers to sales in 2012. New release in bold.
