Tejima Yu apologizes for lying about her real age

Talent Tejima Yu came clean about her real age on TBS variety program “Sunday Japon” on July 29th. She’s been reporting her age as 27 when she is actually 29 and will be turning 30 on August 27th. She apologized on the program saying, “I’m extremely sorry.

She also revealed the reason for her misrepresenting her age. She was told by her management agency at that time that a gravure idol will only be popular if she’s in her teens. She was 21 at the time, so on her own accord, she asked to have her reported age reduced  by 2 years and had her gravure debut at a reported age of 19.

After the broadcast Tejima posted an entry on her blog that reads, “Viewers of Sunday Japon, thank you very much. I came out … you must have been surprised. Sorry for giving everyone a shock . Starting afresh, I will work hard from here on so please support me!

But other celebs have lied about their age...

Fans banned from taking uchiwa to Tackey concerts?

Fans have been left shocked by a move to ban uchiwas from Hideaki Takizawa’s summer concerts, reports Cyzowoman.

A must-have item at Johnny’s concerts is an uchiwa.  Fans can use uchiwa bought from a merchandise shop to show Johnny’s talents who they are a fan of, while homemade uchiwa give fans the chance to put in private messages such as “blow me a kiss” or “give me the peace sign”.

It has been reported fans going to Tackey’s SUMMER LOVE CONCERT 2012 show in Tokyo on July 26 got an email a week before, asking them to support Tackey with “only pompoms and penlights, please”.  Some fans had called the ticket office to ask whether it meant uchiwa were banned, and were told an “uchiwa ban” had not been stated.  But one fan painted a different picture.

“When I got to the concert venue, they were checking bags, and they asked anyone with an uchiwa to store it away.  Some fans managed to get through the checkpoint with their uchiwa, but when they took them out inside the hall, a staff member told them off.  There were arguments going on here and there, it was awkward at one point,” said one fan at the concert.

Kanjani8 dress up for movie premiere in Tokyo and Osaka

Two cities in one day and two different colour-coordinated outfits, Kanjani8 celebrated the start of their movie in style on July 28, reports Nikkan Sports and Daily Sports Online.

Eightranger” started in cinemas in Japan over the weekend, and Kanjani8 appeared for the premiere in Tokyo dressed in yukata.

“To make it easier, each of our obi-belts are the same colour as our own image colour,” Subaru Shibutani said.

But then the group traveled to Osaka on the same day to take part in their hometown’s premiere of the movie in the evening, this time dressed in their Eightranger costumes.  It has been reported it is the first time all seven members had been in Osaka to promote the movie.  Ryuhei Maruyama was not scheduled to appear in the Osaka event, but managed to at the last minute.

It has been reported fans in Umeda, Osaka were screaming and crying.

The movie is based on a concert performance the group have been doing for a number of years.

“I feel so happy knowing that we’ve been able to make Eightranger into something that we could give to all of you,” Shingo Murakami said.

The group itself celebrates eight years together this year, after starting as a Johnny’s group filled with members from the Kansai region, who have now gained popularity both as a group and as soloists.

“I’m really happy to be here to celebrate the first day of our movie, a movie about Osaka’s Eightrangers, which will now be shown across the country,” Ryo Nishikido said.

The group’s co-star, 62-year-old Hiroshi Tachi, also wears an Eightranger suit in the movie, and Yu Yokoyama had said he looks very cool.

“I hope I can wear that outfit when I’m Tachi-san’s age,” he said.
