Bagel Head Trend: Japanese Claim Western Media ‘Distorts’ and ‘Glorifies’ a Nonexistent Fashion Fad


Bagel head - a "supposedly" new popular fashion trend in Japan which Western social media sites have glorified thanks to the National Geographic "Taboo" episode that studies and scrutinizes the bizarre beauty saline-injection. But according to many Japanese social media sites, such Western reports on "bagel heads" completely distort and fabricate a "wacky Japanese fashion trend" which doesn't even truly exist. According to the popular subculture blogger and television host La Carmina, many Japanese people didn't even know about "bagel head" until reports from overseas began hitting the net.

Gouriki Ayame attends opening ceremony of new ‘Tiffany & Co.’ store


On September 28, actress Gouriki Ayame attended the opening ceremony of a new ‘Tiffany & Co.‘ jewelry store inside the SOGO Chiba department store in Chiba.

For the event, Gouriki wore jewelry worth 13,000,000 Yen (167,531 USD). She expressed, “I’m very nervous, but it makes me feel one step closer to becoming an adult woman.

She was also asked questions related to the recent marriage of her senior Ueto Aya. She replied, “Of course, I’d like to wear a wedding ring someday, but I still have a long way to go at work. I have to polish myself and become a reliable woman (before thinking about getting married).

The young actress just turned twenty at the end of August, so wearing a lot of jewelry is still a new experience for her. She bashfully revealed that she doesn’t usually wear extravagant jewelry. She said, “It’s one of my dreams to buy jewelry myself for the first time after becoming an adult woman. Receiving jewelry from a man as a gift would make me very happy as well.

The new ‘Tiffany & Co.’ store is the 55th one in Japan and the biggest in Chiba. The interior design is made of white marble and a few highlights in ‘Tiffany Blue’. It’s also separated in three different areas for fine jewelry, bridal jewelry, and casual fashion jewelry. For a limited time, they are also displaying a special yellow diamond necklace worth around 340,000,000 Yen (4.4 million USD).

Do As Infinity’s Van Tomiko announces her marriage


It’s been reported that Do As Infinity’s vocalist Van Tomiko (33) has gotten married in mid-September. This surprise announcement was made during the encore of the unit’s live concert at Shibuya AX on September 29th.

According to sources, Van’s husband is a non-celebrity man who is 4 years her junior. He’s described as an “ikemen with a fresh and neat impression“. The two immediately started dating after meeting last summer. They submitted their marriage papers at the ward office in mid-September.

During the concert, Van stated, “I wanted to make my marriage announcement first to my fans who have always supported me.” She also commented, “He’s a kind and faithful person who supports me with a broad mind. While understanding and helping each other, I want to spend my life with him. It would make me happy if you would watch over us warmly.

This day marked Do As Infinity’s “13th birthday”. They performed a total of 23 songs including tracks off of their upcoming 10th album, “Do As Infinity X” (October 10th release).

Nanao shows off her beautiful legs in her 1st photo book


In preparation for her 24th birthday, model Nanao (23) has announced that her first photo book “Nanao Chouzetsu Bikyaku Shashinshu 1028_24” (Gentosha) will go on sale on October 28, her birthday.

Nanao stands at 172 cm (~5′7″) with measurements B80 (~31.5″) W57 (~22″) H83 (~32″), and the cover of the photo book shows a forward bending pose that emphasizes all 85 cm (~33″) of her hips and legs. Additionally, the book is full of sexy shots, and Nanao was confident as she promoted her photo book, stating, “I have not exposed myself this much before.  Please enjoy all of my present self.”

On the same day, “GINGER Tokubetsuhenshuu Nanao Stylebook” (Gentosha), which reveals Nanao’s style secrets, will also go on sale. In addition, at 5PM on October 28, Nanao will appear at a book signing event at the Fukuya bookstore in Shinjuku.

Production Announcement for “Johnny’s World”

Johnny’s original production “Johnny’s World” will begin its run this Nov. 10th at Imperial Theater in Tokyo. A press conference and announcement was held yesterday at Metropolitan, Tokyo where members of Hey! Say! JUMP, Sexy Zone and A.B.C-Z attended.

The said show is Johnny’s Entertainment President, Johnny Kitagawa, way of celebrating as a record holder in “Guinness Book of World Records” for “most concert produced” and “most no. 1 singles produced“. It was only last year when Kitagawa was awarded by Guinness on the same stage where the play will happen.

The press interview were attended by Hey!Say!JUMP‘s Yamada Ryosuke, Chinen Yuri, Yaotome Hikaru and Yabu Kota. Sexy Zone’s Nakajima Kento and Sato Shori. Lastly, A.B.C-Z‘s Hashimoto Ryosuke, Totsuka Shota, and Kawai Fumito.

“I’d like to devote myself to this so I won’t shame my senior’s names,” Yamada Ryosuke commented. “Even though this is a culmination of Johnny’s talents, I would also like to show how much we [as ourselves] have evolved,” Yaotome Hikaru added.

Sato Shiori, the youngest from the attendants, was very enthusiastic about the play, “Everything has been a challenge for us during our first time, but now we want to do something that everyone hasn’t done yet,” he said.

Doing guest appearance are KinKi Kids‘ Koichi Domoto, KAT-TUN‘s Kamenashi Kazuya, and Hideaki Takizawa, who will act as “chairperson” as he has experienced performing at Imperial Theater. Reporters asked if they have anything to say to their senpais that will act as guest, Fumito Kawai have a message for Takizawa, “Takizawa-kun, I want to know how can I exude such an aura, I’ll ask you from here since even if I call you, you don’t answer (the phone) so easily.”

Johnny’s World will start its run on Nov 10th at Imperial Theater.

What does a Former 1st Lady & Socialite thinks of “Dream Boys”?

Indonesia‘s former 1st Lady and Japanese socialite Dewi Sukarno (born as Naoko Nemoto and adopted the name Ratna Sari Dewi Soekarno after she married former Indonesian President) blogged about watching “Dream Boys” at Imperial Theater.

Dewi, who once guested in an episode of Cartoon KAT-TUN (ep. 72) and even played Mountain Line with Nakamaru while wearing a dress befitting for Marie Antoinette, must have felt an affinity for KAT-TUN for watching Dream Boys. After all, I think that socialites would rather see Noriyuki Higashiyama‘s “Kings Speech” than Dream Boys.
