On January 6th, a launch event was held in FujiTV Odaiba, Tokyo to commemorate the release of SMAP member Nakai Masahiro (40) photo album collection in plain clothes, “Shifuku-darake no Nakai Masahiro zōkan-gō ~ kagayaite ~ Part 2″.
In the said event Nakai got to interact with 1100 fans and talk about his CD Solo Debut, “I’ve been saying this for the past 25 years but the office does not make any move for me. If I make it, I’m sure I’ll appear in Kohaku”, causing laughter among the audience. His photobook has sold 330,000 units, he declares his goal is to sell just as much copies of his debut single.
In last years NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, SMAP reached the higher ratings among all performances with 49.4% and they’ve been holding onto this title for 3 years, Nakai commented, “I’m honestly really happy”. During Kohaku rehearsals he was constantly pointed out because of his pitch issues by Kusanagi Tsuyoshi (38), “Within myself it’s perfect. I’m not worried about anything”.

On AKB48’s official blog, it was announced that Masuda Yuka who ended her activities as an AKB48 member last December, withdrew from the group’s sub-unit DiVA as well.
DiVA is a dance & vocal unit that was originally formed with AKB48 members Akimoto Sayaka, Miyazawa Sae, Umeda Ayaka, and Masuda. Later, they added 6 more members to the unit. Masuda was treated as a member of DiVA even after her withdrawal from AKB48, however, on the blog post that was made on January 7th, they officially announced that she’s withdrawn from DiVA as well.
On January 6th, 18-member group Tokyo Cheer② Party held their first hall concert at Nakano ZERO, Tokyo, where it was announced that they would be making a major debut under Victor Entertainment this summer.
When the MC made the surprise announcement, the group’s leader Sawa Miho burst into tears, hugging her fellow members. The audience of 500 also blessed them with many “Congratulations!” cheers.
Sawa said, “This is the year to make things happen. We would like to win through this idol warring era!”
Tokyo Cheer② Party was formed back in 2010, and they have released 4 singles and 1 album.

In celebration of the milestone, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu wants to do something special for her fans who have helped her become a national icon.
"I want to do a free concert or something. I'll talk to the company president about it," she tweeted.

Amuro Namie’s nationwide tour, ‘namie amuro 5-dai Dome TOUR 2012 ~20th Anniversary Best~“, will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 27th.
To commemorate her 20th anniversary, Amuro held 8 concerts in 5 locations (Fukuoka, Osaka, Sapporo, Nagoya, and Tokyo) for a total of 340,000 people. The set list was chosen by roughly 800,000 votes from her fans.
The DVD and Blu-ray will feature 30 songs Amuro performed during the tour. The limited editions will come with an additional 2 live albums.
