Seven Oops coming to the U.S.A!!

Their music has a certain similarity to the world-view of girl comics, and they’re favored by young generation fans. Making their musical debut in 2011 they scored the theme song for the film ‘High School Debut’ with their first single ‘Fallin Love.’ Since then their music has been featured in a variety of shows including Fuji Sankei Group’s morning news program ‘FCI Morning Eye’, broadcasted all over the United States (with the song ‘Nijiiro’), the anime series ‘Naruto Shippuden’ (with the song ‘Lovers’). Their latest single (‘Sayonara Memory’) being used as the ending theme for ‘Naruto Shippuden’ and their single “Bye Bye” also was used as the theme song for TV animation “Kimi to Boku”. The band is increasing its fans globally with these animation tie-ins. Last year, they performed in Jakarta for the first time in overseas

With their music available in 19 countries on iTunes and Amazon and their first full-length album ‘Dokidoki’ out now in Japan 7!! has quickly become a burgeoning force in the Japanese music scene. Ayumi Hamasaki To Appear On Bistro SMAP For First Time In 11 Years

To celebrate 15 years in the industry, Ayumi Hamasaki is set to appear on Bistro SMAP, the popular corner of SMAPxSMAP...Starring, SMAP. The airing date coincides exactly on the day of her debut: April 8th and will be the her first appearance on Bistro SMAP since 2002, where she ordered Japanese-style food.

During the show, Bistro Owner Nakai gets some insight into Ayu's private life, especially at home. "At home there's a lot of staff that just go freely in and out." The conversation then took an amusing turn when Ayu mentioned some more personal matters, "In my own home, my fingernails...I don't even know where to cut them..." "Eh?!? You don't even know?" stated Nakai in his usual false disbelief. The discussion continues along the lines of what housework Ayu does herself, with the actual state of things becoming clear when the show airs. Ayu added that she rarely goes outside much and promised to go out more.

The discussion progressed to each others concerts and to "finger SUMA", the game that was played on her last appearance. People in the industry have commented that despite her long career, peoples' eyes will still be fixed on the screen for Ayu, because of her wide appeal.

As it was her 15th Anniversary, Ayu had many words for her fans. "On the 8th of April, I debuted 15 years ago. I've made it this far because of my fans' support. Thank you very much. This year I will sing all my songs, especially the nostalgic ones, for my 15th Anniversary tour. For this year I want to think of various ways to have fun with my fans, so please look forward to it. From now and on-wards, I want to continue singing in my own way, so please continue to support me."

Hundreds of Japanese Raise Their Middle Finger to Right-Wing Anti-Korean Protesters in Tokyo

Despite the enormous popularity of K-Pop, Korean food and beauty products, relations between Japan and South Korea have been strained for quite some time. In recent months, however, right wing groups have become increasingly vocal, with anti-Korean protests occurring more and more frequently, especially in areas where many Koreans congregate and live.

On 31 March in Shin-Ōkubo — a town situated just a couple of minutes away from Shinjuku on Tokyo’s Yamanote line and the location of a large Korean ethnic neighbourhood — hundreds of anti-Korean protesters marched through the streets carrying signs reading “Go back to Korea!” and labeling Koreans in Japan “cockroaches”. Thankfully, equally large numbers of liberally-minded Japanese also showed up to protest the protest.

“You are the shame of this country!” “You’re the ones who need to go home!” “Get back to the Internet where you belong!”

First teaser for the upcoming "Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de" movie

t94_bor

On Monday, the official website for Masato Hijikata’s upcoming movie Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de (lit. The After-Dinner Mysteries) was relaunched with a new 30-second teaser trailer.

The film is a continuation of a 10-episode TV drama which aired on Fuji TV in fall 2011. Based on a best-selling novel by Tokuya Higashigawa, the drama starred Keiko Kitagawa as a wealthy heiress named Reiko Hosho who hid her status to work as a rookie police officer by day. Sho Sakurai of the popular boy band Arashi played her perfectionist butler Kageyama who offered helpful advice delivered with his own unique brand of brutal honesty.

The movie was shot primarily on the “SuperStar Virgo”, the largest luxury liner in Asia. The plot unfolds as Reiko boards her family’s luxury cruise ship, the “Princess Reiko”, along with Kageyama and embarks on a vacation to Singapore. While on-board, a murder occurs and the two of them get involved in the case.

“Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de” will be released by Toho in Japan on August 3, 2013.

David Hayter: To hear another Snake ‘makes me a little ill’

Hayter-Snake-Ill

David Hayter, who lends his voice to Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series, is discontent with his not playing Snake in the recently announced Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

“To hear anyone else’s voice coming from Snake’s battered throat, makes me a little ill, to be honest,” he said on Twitter. “If it were my choice, I would do this role forever.”

Hayter previously said he was never contacted by Konami about the new title. Series creator Hideo Kojima said this is because “it’s a new type of Metal Gear game,” and that newness should be “reflected in the voice actor,” as well.

“I didn’t want anybody to think that I was intentionally abandoning them,” Hayter added. “And know that I will miss this job, and this character, very much.

“But the truth is—it’s not my choice. Any and all casting decisions are the sole purview of Hideo Kojima, and Konami itself. And that’s fair.”

Men with ‘yellow fever’ get a taste of their own medicine

You give me fever: In 'They're All So Beautiful' the racial politics of non-Asians being attracted to Asians, and the stereotypes that entails, are explored through interviews with those on both sides of the fetish.

Lafcadio Hearn called the Japanese woman a creature “shaped for the service of gods and men.” John Lennon divorced his English wife and took to eating stinky natto (fermented soybeans) to be with Yoko Ono. Major League baseball legend Pete Rose is famed for hooking up with a much younger Korean Playboy model while separated (but not legally divorced) from his wife of 20 years. There’s no need for serious digging; just scrape the surface of history and there are plenty of examples of Caucasian men who showed the symptoms of a phenomenon known as “yellow fever.”
