On the night of the 16th, the 5 member jpop group SMAP held their first overseas concert in Beijing's workers stadium to a large audience.
This concert had a serious undertone as it promotes cultural exchange between Japan and Chinese youths. SMAP had met with various Chinese officials and were even at the Great Hall of the People earlier that day. Several government officials also attended the concert including the Chinese ambassador to Japan.
On a lighter note, SMAP used some Chinese and Chinese slang throughout the concert and the fans were pleasantly surprised. They also sang two songs, 'Sekai hitotsu dake no hana' and 'Yozora no mukou' in Chinese, as well as a Chinese classic 'Yue liang dai biao wo de xin' (the moon represents my heart)
Model/actress Lin Chi-ling who had worked with Kimura Takuya in the drama Moon Lovers was a special guest during their MC. In the MC, members Katori Shingo and Kusanagi Tsuyoshi mentioned that during their first visit to China they climbed the great wall of China together. And not only did it strengthen their friendship but also their love. (which earned a lot of screams from fangirls lol)
