Akanishi Jin finally makes his American dreams come true

Akanishi Jin and Jason Derulo


On October 9, singer Akanishi Jin (27) announced that he would make his American debut with the American digital release of his new song 「TEST DRIVE Featuring JASON DERULO」on November 8.

Akanishi excitedly commented, "Having travelled across the United States, I'm excited to be given this chance to work in America. I'm looking forward to sharing my music with more people than before".

The new song will be released under the name "Jin Akanishi". The song is an up-tempo, R&B duet with popular young artist Jason Derulo (22) who reached number 1 on the US charts in 2009.

The meaning of the song title「TEST DRIVE」is "Why don't you give me a try? (go out together)". Derulo commented, "Jin is an easy guy to get along with. I really enjoyed recording with him".

The American release of his song will be by digital download release rather than by CD release. It has been decided that a mini-album including three different songs will be released on CD in Japan on December 7. His American album is planned to release next year and it is said that he is currently in the middle of recording.

Tbh, I heard the sample and it doesn't sound too bad. It reminds me of Franz Ferdinand - "Do You Want To" used at the end of the Paradise Kiss anime.

I thought it was going to flop, but now I'm not so sure it'll be a complete failure..

God I fucking hate Jason Derulo. He would have been better off collaborating with Drake. Hell even Verbal got him, Weezy and Nicki Minaj for his album.

I was totally surprised that Jason is 22. I would think he's around the same age as Jin...

I wonder how Jin felt being "mentored" by someone younger than him... >.> Japanese ppl are more aware of age differences

Am I the only who thinks that if this doesn't work for Jin, JE will never let us have anything nice?
Don't get me wrong, I really like Akanishi's ballads but his upbeat, R&B stuff doesn't do much for me.

I'm really looking forward to what other boys they would send over here.

But Japanese groups going overseas is always some kind of... non-permantent thing, I think. Truth be told I doubt they'll reach the same status as in Japan but I think that is what JE will be aiming for though. But well, they can totally prrof me wrong, of course ^.~

Anyways, Am I the only one who laughs every time a Jason Derulo record starts, he has to effin sing his own name... Lmao. That's the only way I can differentiate him with the other R&B singers nowadays.
