Ishihara Satomi & Seto Koji to star in new horror movie ‘Sadako 3D’

It’s been announced that actress Ishihara Satomi will star in a new horror movie from Kadokawa Shoten Pictures, Inc., titled ‘Sadako 3D‘.  As some of you may know, “Sadako” is one of the most well-known scary characters from the Japanese series ‘Ring‘.

There have been four movies in the ‘Ring’ series. The original movie, ‘Ring’ (starring Matsushima Nanako in 1998), ‘Rasen’ (starring Sato Koichi in 1998), ‘Ring 2′ (starring Nakatani Miki in 1999), and prequel ‘Ring 0 Birthday’ (starring Nakama Yukie in 2000).  This upcoming film will also be based on the original story by Suzuki Koji who is the author of the series.

‘Sadako 3D’ will feature a high school teacher named Ayukawa Akane (played by Ishihara) who will be the key for the return of ‘Sadako’. Ishihara commented, “Since great special effects and CG are used in the film, I’m looking forward to seeing the completion of the movie. I’m sure it will be a new type of horror movie that you see beauty in the fear.”

It was also announced that Seto Koji will co-star with Ishihara, as her boyfriend, web designer, Ando Takanori.  Seto said, “I can’t wait to see how scary it will be to watch ‘Sadako’ coming out from big screen when it’s scary enough to see it coming out from the TV screen. The movie became a new type of horror movie that keeps the taste of Japanese horrors, which give you the fear slowly, as well as the grotesqueness of Hollywood horrors.”

Filming for the movie finished on December 16th, 2011. ‘Sadako 3D’ is set for release on May 12th, 2012.
