Weekly Oricon Chart: Albums/Singles/Music-DVDs

Oricon was on holiday for new year, and has finally updated the rankings yesterday so here it is!

Popular vocal and dance group, EXILE and EXILE ATSUSHI topped the albums chart last week with the release of EXILE's 9th studio album and ATSUSHI's first solo album, "EXILE JAPAN/Solo" (released on 1st January 2012). This is the 14th time they have topped the albums chart since their second album, "Styles Of Beyond" (released in February 2003).

In the singles chart, popular Johnnys soloist, Akanishi Jin achieved his second consecutive no.1 single with "Seasons." His previous single, "Eternal" also topped the singles chart when released in March last year.

Meanwhile, popular idol group, AKB48 topped the music-DVDs chart with "AKB48 Yossha ~Ikuzo~! in Seibu Dome Special BOX." Another four titles were also released simultaneously, making it five titles overall in the TOP100 weekly. AKB48 have now surpassed MAX's record at having the most DVDs in the TOP100 at the same time (MAX had four) in 11 years and 3 months. Other female artists with the most record of DVDs in the TOP100 simultaneously with three DVDs are Moritaka Chisato, Hamasaki Ayumi, and SPEED.

Posting the top 30 albums/singles and the top 10 music-DVDs. The second column in the top 10 refers to sales in 2012. New release in bold.

The long new year holiday in Japan gave us some wonky Oricon charts, but EXILE look like they might be able to double their previous album's second week sales. For SJJD, their Re:Package album is stacked onto GIRLS' GENERATION's sales instead of counted as a separate album, that's why you're seeing it selling so much. Single-wise, NYC and Yuma were supposed to release their single on January 4th but it ended up being in stores a few days earlier (it had 4 days to chart). As it turns out, the single's second week sales is looking to match up to this week's sales.
